The Friday Read: A Luxury Getaway to St. Tropez & The Best Spring Menswear from Huckberry

AREV St. Tropez Resort.

It seems that many times these days, as I pursue my many freelance writing ventures, I’m often struck by the opportunities that come across my inbox (and the opportunities that land on my plate and in my rocks glass, as well). And yet another one of those ventures kicks off as we speak: As part of my many writing pursuits at Maxim.com — covering spirits, menswear, high-end audio and travel, from Morocco to Mexico and back — I’m once again hopping on a flight across the pond.

I visited the Italian Dolomites with luxury audio brand Sonos just about three weeks ago, and remarkably, I’m once again in European Union — this time, the venture takes me to the elegant, luxurious and recently launched AREV St. Tropez Resort in pursuit of a story on the hotel’s debut and its return to old-world luxury in one of the most refined places on the planet. A tantalizing prospect, yes?

I’ve written travel stories covering the likes of a palace-turned-resort in Morocco, as well as a tranquil upstate New York winter getaway, and this new adventure is about as grand as it gets, all things considered. Plans for the trip include time to experience the property’s many amenities (Fine dining! Exquisite cocktails!) as well as a beachside hike and a trip through the legendary markets of Saint-Tropez.

Fittingly, this astounding luxury experience should prove the perfect testing ground for some new spring menswear finds that I’m packing in my trusty Halfday Travel bag.

That durable duffle bag, if you’ll recall, doubles as a garment bag, boasts inner shoe compartments and should prove both TSA-approved and yet more than ready to haul some new Huckberry spring menswear (along with a new pair of Orlebar Brown shorts and a stylish knit polo).

What’s on your packing list for your next trip? I tend to find that the classics — especially selections like the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants or a pair of rugged Rhodes Footwear Chelsea boots — tend to do well most anywhere, particularly during the blustery climes of spring in France.

Naturally, you can follow along with my trip over on my Instagram, where I’ll still be showcasing spring style favorites like this new Buck Mason cotton sweater — this time, not in the confines of a Brooklyn indie rock show, but instead in the luxe trappings of an astonishingly cool French resort. To say I’m grateful is an understatement! As ever, you can keep it tuned here this weekend for two spring style posts in the meantime — and with that, let’s explore the French Riviera, shall we? Cheers and as ever, thanks for reading!
