See Now, Buy Now: Mott and Bow is Making The Perfect Everyday Cashmere Sweater

Sometimes, great style is rather simple — it could be as simple as buying one of the best men’s sweaters, the kind that adds quiet, subtle luxury to your wardrobe. And it’s even better if that sweater comes from the makers of your favorite jeans.

After all, a crisp, sleek sweater is the perfect pairing with a pair of the best blue jeans — it’s a simple look that works well at the office, out on a date or during a coffee meeting, for instance. And yes, the sweater in question comes from Mott and Bow, NYC-based makers of some of the best jeans for men.

The Mott and Bow Bergen Cashmere Sweater boasts a super-soft midweight cashmere fabric for an impossibly comfortable fit and feel, and again, it bears repeating that it wears especially well with your favorite jeans from Mott and Bow. It’s a comfortable, warm style solution, but one that needn’t be overly expensive (we’re talking about cashmere here, after all). Consider that mission accomplished handily.

It’s also available in an array of versatile, highly wearable colors, be it Charcoal Heather, Camel Heather or Navy, so you can pick up multiple options for multiple days of the week. In the interest of keeping it simple, I’ll bring down the curtain on today’s post. You know what you have to do: Upgrade your next #OOTD with one of the best sweaters for men.

The Tuesday Steal: These Rugged FRYE Bowery Hiking Boots Are Nearly 70 Percent Off

FRYE men's boots review

My friends, that headline might sound too good to be true, but trust me when I say it’s certainly not — these rugged, stylish hiking boots from FRYE really are just about 70 percent off, marked down to under $130 from an original price of nearly $400. It’s an astonishing deal on some of the best boots for men, if you ask me, and I already can’t get enough of FRYE men’s boots.

Perhaps you’re well-acquainted with the fact that the brand makes some of the best boots for men, with an emphasis on heritage production in the United States. I’ve been a fan for years, and love their use of rich leathers, high-quality construction and throwback-minded, classic styles (like these alpine-inspired hiking boots).

If you’re not familiar as of yet though, consider this as fine a time as any to truly hop on board by shopping the FRYE Bowery Hiker Boots.

What gives these rugged-meets refined hiking boots a leg up on the competition? The rich Cognac leather is a big boost in terms of style points, while Goodyear-welted construction makes them resoleable and infinitely wearable (and durable, for that matter). The FRYE Bowery Hiker Boots also boast timeless details like functional D-ring lacing, and lest we forget, the leather on these hiking boots is waterproof for added utility.

And it bears repeating that the price tag on these next-level hiking boots is out of this world: Accordingly, sizes are moving quickly, so do your footwear rotation a favor and add these unstoppable, heritage-quality boots to your rotation.

See Now, Buy Now: The Mott and Bow Leisure Pants are the Perfect Blend of Comfort and Style

Mott and Bow men's pants review.

In these increasingly casual times, whether you work from home or split time in the office (or back out on the road), comfort is king, as is style. And yes, the two can certainly go hand in hand, which you should well know if you read the blog on the regular (thanks for stopping by!).

It’s more than possible to nail both parts of the equation, especially if you shop one of the best denim brands for men — that’d be my friends at Mott and Bow, of course. But we’re not quite here to talk about some of the best men’s jeans (although I’ve got plenty of Mott and Bow reviews that cover that particular category).

No sir, we’re here instead to talk about that critical blend of comfort and style, yet in a distinctly unique package. The Mott and Bow Leisure Pants, as I’ve found in recent weeks, really hit the nail on the head when it comes to a nice blend of office-ready and real-world polish, mixed with the New York City denim upstart’s famous commitment to comfort and style.

Mott and Bow Leisure Pants review.

How does the brand do it? It’s simple, really: They start with a blend of 98 percent cotton and two percent spandex, specifically a medium-weight cotton canvas fabric with a 20 percent comfort stretch rating. That gives the Mott and Bow Leisure Pants the ability to move with you, and the features rival your favorite, most comfortable sweatpants — yet, with the polished look of stylish men’s chinos.

The Mott and Bow Leisure Pants feature a faux fly and side slant pockets (again, like your favorite pair of chinos), yet the difference maker is the stretch elastic drawstring waistband. If you wear one of your favorite winter sweaters or one of the best men’s flannel shirts though, no one will be any the wiser as to the perfect mix of style and comfort you’ve achieved.

Plus, crisp color options like Khaki, Dark Gray and Navy have as many style points and as much versatility as your favorite chinos. When comfort and style are top of mind, you’ve just secured your new go-to pants.

The Sunday Sale: Save Up to 30 Percent On the Best Menswear, Gear and More at the Bespoke Post Winter Sale

It’s like I often say here on the blog: Ramping up your wardrobe with the best menswear essentials sometimes just comes down to opportunity and knowing when to strike while the iron’s hot. And that’s no more crucial than in the depths of winter, when it can be easy to get into a style rut. One way to refresh your wardrobe and have some fun in the process?

Well, shopping the Bespoke Post Winter Sale, a rare opportunity to save as much as 30 percent on men’s style must-haves from Bespoke Post brands like Line of Trade (makers of the rugged trucker jacket shown at the top of the page). Perhaps you’ve already done your fair share of shopping menswear deals at Bespoke Post on pieces like one of the best denim shirts, and here’s yet another way to ramp things up.

Of course, there’s a plethora of other brands to shop as well within the Bespoke Post Winter Sale, like Taylor Stitch and Topo Designs, for starters. Style Pick of the Week: Flint and Tinder Stretch Ripstop Waxed Field Jacket – Your New Go-To Outdoor Jacket

My friends, suffice to say, the team at Huckberry has done it again. The rugged-meets-refined, endlessly versatile retailer — based in Austin and San Francisco — already excels at making timeless menswear essentials that work for plenty of situations in and out of the field, on and off the trail and beyond.

And the latest Flint and Tinder waxed jacket is another entry in that storied modern lineage, with the kind of rugged good looks and top-notch performance destined to take any wardrobe from good to great.

Of course, the Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket is already the company’s best-selling product for a reason, with unmatched style, durable appeal and a dash of performance in inclement weather. How to top that style?

Easy: Go back to the drawing board and return with another one of the best waxed jackets for men, rather improbably. The Flint and Tinder Stretch Ripstop Waxed Field Jacket, as Huckberry says, is the latest badass addition to its lineup, with specs that are as unbeatable as its iconic field jacket design.

The beauty of the Flint and Tinder Stretch Ripstop Waxed Field Jacket starts with the fact that it’s inspired by other iconic field jackets, and then done up in Huckberry’s trademark tough-as-nails fabric (in this case, a waxed canvas exterior featuring a hint of stretch).

It’s then finished with a cozy 4oz. flannel lining for added warmth, not unlike the famed Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket. Custom hardware and snap pockets finish things off with crucial EDC storage space in mind, too. In my book, the newest Flint and Tinder jacket checks all the right boxes. Suffice to say, if you already have one, you’re going to love this new addition to the Huckberry lineup — I can nearly guarantee it. Happy shopping and we’ll see you out there, my friends.

The Friday Read: A Brooklyn Birthday Weekend

My friends, as always, thanks for joining me for my weekly recap as we cruise through another winter week in New York City. It’s been yet another busy, momentous stretch of days, and the month has certainly flown by already.

I’ve trekked to Puerto Rico with Ron Del Barrilito rum, and I headed West earlier this month with luxury audio brand Rockford Fosgate to ride off-road and cruise on the water, all the while listening to the brand’s luxury sound systems. Of course, I enjoyed myself some cold beer along the way (and wrapped up last year in fine fashion in Florida, as shown above).

Those two freelance pursuits are a great reminder of why I do what I do in terms of variety, the ability to learn and the ability to pursue such unique stories from my home base in New York. And whether it’s writing about a stylish Todd Snyder sweater here on this blog, covering a classic Bulova watch for Maxim or writing about a record-setting Irish whiskey, it’s a pursuit I intend to keep at for years to come. It’s also a great reminder in terms of perspective — particularly as I roll into my birthday weekend!

You can keep up with all the fun on my Instagram of course, but until the day hits on Sunday, I’ll be wearing stylish Huckberry gear as shown above, as well as using Saturday to put in more time on my blog and other freelance writing projects. And of course, two regular weekend style posts will follow in the days ahead. In the meantime: Cheers, thanks for reading and thanks for supporting what I do day in and day out!

The Thursday Buy: This Todd Snyder Lambswool Sweater Is a Rugged and Refined Winter Classic

Todd Snyder men's sweaters.

Most of the time, my favorite men’s style essentials are the pieces that evoke utterly classic, timeless style — the sort of items your father or grandfather might have counted on and worn reliably, be it a stylish pair of jeans, a rugged waxed trucker jacket or the cozy men’s winter sweater from Todd Snyder shown above. Some things never really go out of style, and that includes a thick-knit sweater you can wear consistently on brisk winter days.

And this Todd Snyder sweater is a gem of an offering, with a classically rugged cable knit design that calls to mind old-school fisherman sweaters and frigid winter mornings in front of the fire. The Todd Snyder Lambswool Cable Crewneck (available in a rich Cream color, a sleek black or a crisp Navy option) gets the details right, boasting a classic fit you can layer over your favorite Oxford shirt alongside faded blue jeans or burgundy corduroy pants in equal measure.

The 100 percent Lambswool construction should also prove warm and sturdy, minus the itch of other similar fibers. And since it’s Todd Snyder we’re talking about here, you can count on quality for your investment. How’s that for checking all the proper boxes as you search for your new favorite winter sweater? Call it a winner in my book, my friends. Happy winter shopping!

See Now, Buy Now: The Mott and Bow Mercer Jeans Are Your Perfect Everyday Jeans

Mott and Bow denim for men.

It’s always nice, when building your rotation of menswear essentials, to have heavy hitters you can reliably count on in the clutch. And certainly, a pair of the best men’s jeans fits the bill — as wearable with your favorite T-shirt or a winter henley as with a soft-shouldered blazer at the office, they’re a must-have almost any day of the week. If you read the blog on the regular, you know that Mott and Bow delivers that reliability and consistency, which is why we’re here today.

You see, the Mott and Bow Mercer Jeans just about fit the bill to a tee, especially as you look to shake up your style a bit (but not too much!) in the doldrums of winter. The Mott and Bow Mercer Jeans get all the proper hallmarks correct, from the right fit (in either a Slim or Straight cut) to the rich range of game-changing color options to suit every style.

That makes them some of the best jeans to wear at the office on casual Fridays, or out and about on the weekends. And again, it’s those color options that match up quite nicely with the brand’s stretch cotton denim blend for endless versatility. How’s that for a reliable winter wardrobe shake-up? I’ll leave you to it — good luck out there, my friends.

The Tuesday Steal: Save 30 Percent On This Innovative Relwen Jacket at Huckberry

Best men's puffer jacket for winter.

If you’re anything like me, perhaps you value both tried-and-true functionality as well as grab-and-go appeal when shopping for one of the best winter jackets for men. What do I mean by that? I mean that when it comes to layering up for winter with menswear essentials, it’s best to opt for picks that you don’t have to worry too much about — picks like the Relwen Windzip Jacket, which keeps you cozy in rugged style without too much fuss.

Relwen men's jackets at Huckberry.

On the surface, this subtly stylish men’s jacket mimics a classic puffer jacket, but here’s where Relwen (a favorite brand from Huckberry) separates itself from the pack. The fit and design is less bulky than other puffer jackets, all without sacrificing any warmth, which is a major bonus in my book.

Oh, and because this is the Tuesday Steal, here’s the real kicker: One of the best men’s winter jackets right now is 30 percent off, so hop to it. You’ll find it within the always well-stocked Huckberry Sale section, of course.

And the specs on the he stretchy nylon and spandex exterior resists wind and rain, while the down alternative filling also keeps you warm without adding bulk. You’ve also got the option of a sleek zipper front or a snap-button wind flap front for mobility and a customizable fit on your new favorite casual winter jacket. A large chest pocket delivers crucial EDC storage space.

Naturally, you’re getting all of this from the Relwen Windzip Jacket with style points in mind: The Charcoal color shown here should wear plenty well with nearly everything in your wardrobe, from tan chinos to expertly faded denim. The next time you’re in search of utility, style and a nice deal on one of the best men’s winter jackets, add the Relwen Windzip Jacket to your shopping cart ASAP.

See Now, Buy Now: The Flint and Tinder 365 Pant Is Your New Go-Anywhere Pant

Flint and Tinder 365 Pants review.

We’re scarcely three weeks into the new year, so it certainly bears repeating that yes indeed, consistency can be key in defining your wardrobe of men’s style essentials in the weeks and months ahead, and that certainly goes for the stylish men’s pants that start off your next look.

Slow and steady wins the race, as does having a selection of the best daily menswear you can turn to during just about any time of day or night, any scenario. For that, enter a retailer like Huckberry, and consider yourself set. But wait, there’s more!

As for your Brooklyn style writer, I frequently head over to Huckberry to select from a lineup that values versatility, rugged appeal, timeless style and quality construction in spades. That’s particularly true among the retailer’s selection of Huckberry Bestsellers, which brings us to the crux of today’s post as you (like me!) focus on endless reliability and utility in your wardrobe.

Flint and Tinder 365 Pants.

As you build an #OOTD from the ground up, it comes down to fit, and for my money’s worth, the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants deliver an expertly crafted fit, stylish colors and unbeatable style points. Perhaps you’re already well-acquainted with Huckberry’s in-house brand, best known for unstoppably rugged selections like the Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket, but the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants take things up a notch in terms of style readiness and polished appeal.

Editor’s note: Thank you to Huckberry for providing the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants for this review. Thanks for supporting brands that support The Style Guide!

Best everyday pants for men.

With the cut of a five-pocket jean and the looks (and fabric) of a chino, the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants quite literally fit well for any scenario you can dream, be it a day at the office — paired with your favorite blazer — or a refined date night at a hip speakeasy. The list certainly goes on from there.

You’ve no doubt read about these essential pants before on the blog in my Flint and Tinder review, but a reminder is always welcome in my book. And let’s circle back to fit, as I’ve found when wearing my new favorite pants over these past few weeks.

Huckberry has options to suit every guy, and that includes my personal preference — the Athletic Tapered fit to suit my larger build. There are also plentiful colors and sizes in other fit options, including the Flint and Tinder Slim 365 Pants or the always-useful Flint and Tinder Straight-Leg 365 Pants. In fact, I tested out the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants in two wear-with-anything colors, including Desert Brown, and both the Straight-Leg and Athletic Tapered cuts.

With more room through the seat and thigh, but a clean taper down to the ankle, the Athletic Tapered version proved wearable with stylish leather chukka boots, round-toe work boots and even my trusty Blundstone boots. Plus, the fabric on the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants has proven soft and supple, yet highly durable, right out of the box — no break-in time required for the garment-dyed, 98 percent cotton + 2 percent spandex blend.

That dependability has made them a go-to for visiting my favorite watering holes around Brooklyn, trekking through Prospect Park and downing a cold beer or two at my favorite brewery, to name but a few favorite pursuits I can get up to while wearing my Flint and Tinder 365 Pants.

Cheers, my friends.
