See Now, Buy Now: The Proof Rover Pants Are My New Favorite Pants — Here’s Why

The perfect pants to carry you into fall — I nearly guarantee it.

So, the headline really says it all today if you want a new pair of the best pants for men. The Proof Rover Pants, as sold by the ever-stylish team at Huckberry, are my new favorite pants. And what’s more, they’re some of the best men’s pants on the market, period. As the weather starts to turn slightly chillier, you’re going to need some rugged, go-anywhere trousers — and again, the Proof Rover Pants are those pants. Get the picture? Good — now, let’s dive in. You’ve seen these before on the blog, particularly in my guide to dressing for early fall, but they’re back again today — for good reason. With the cut of chinos and the styling potential of slim denim, plus the rugged appeal & functionality of tough chore pants, the Proof Rover Pants just get the job done: At the office with an Oxford shirt and a classic navy blazer, on the weekend with a rugged long-sleeve henley, and as you travel on an upstate day trip with a tough field jacket in tow. How does that work exactly? It’s simple, and it starts with the exceptional fabric and comfort — two reasons I can’t seem to stop wearing my Proof Rover Pants.

The tough styling potential and functionality you’ll need all fall.

They’ve got the classic five-pocket design of denim, and yet the tailored cut of chinos — and we haven’t even discussed the exceptional fabric used to craft the Proof Rover Pants. It’s a specially engineered fabric made with cotton, Sorbek and lycra for durability, a hint of stretch & ease of movement. Throw in the fact that these rugged work pants feature a gusseted crotch and darted knee seams, and you’ve got a pair of pants that you can actually wear to, y’know, tackle yard work … or simply tackle another IPA at your favorite brewery.

The rivet points on the Proof Rover Pants are also sturdy and tough, while the fabric is custom pigment-dyed — that means these slim fall trousers are going to break in like your favorite pair of jeans, month after month … after month. And what’s more, they retail for under $100 at Huckberry, a heck of a deal when you consider how much you can wear ’em (every day of the week??). And one last point: I just might have to get a pair of Proof Rover Pants in every color, seeing as the rich options (from Midnight Navy to Khaki) are as versatile as can be. Hopefully, that captures why I love the Proof Rover Pants so much — and why you might feel the same way. Cheers!

Style Pick of the Week: Astorflex Bootflex Boots

Step right into fall with these richly crafted, rugged leather boots.

Are you sick of hearing about Astorflex boots yet? Hopefully not: The brand is a longtime favorite of your humble menswear writer, and they simply make some of the best men’s boots for fall (and beyond, for that matter). With all of that being said, the above criteria makes the Astorflex Bootflex Boots the perfect leather boots for fall — and a natural fit for a late September Style Pick of the Week as we really get into the best season for menswear. What makes Astorflex boots so special? That’s a prime question indeed, my friends. As you’ve read in the past, it all starts with the right approach in terms of design and construction. In the case of the Astorflex Bootflex Boots, that means they’re made with premium European leather aged in oak barrels for 30 days — just the right amount of time to get that perfectly lived-in look and feel, right out of the box. All-natural ingredients soften the leather even further before it’s finished off with top-notch construction via a perfectly casual natural rubber sole. These are, again, some of the best men’s boots you can buy, with a difference that’s noticeable from the second you try them on.

SHOP: The Astorflex Bootflex Boots

Easily wearable with your favorite pair of dark denim — and plenty of other fall style suggestions.

Now, let’s say you feel you’ve already got enough leather boots in your arsenal … well, A) You can never have enough leather boots and B) You surely don’t have a pair akin to the Astorflex Bootflex Boots in terms of style and versatility. The crepe rubber sole means these aren’t cut out for all types of terrain, but for traversing a new city on a fall weekend getaway or heading out to your favorite brewery? Wear the Astorflex Bootflex Boots, accented with slim dark denim and a thermal henley, or try them with olive chinos and a classic chambray shirt. These tough leather boots will also age beautifully the more you wear them, and the unlined leather lining means they’ll provide all-day comfort with seriously minimal break-in time. Weekend tailgate? Early brunch? A day at the office (navy blazer in tow)? The Astorflex Bootflex Boots are here for you. And the price is ultimately what could be the kicker — finding stylish leather boots under $200 is a quest all its own, yet Astorflex delivers on that front handsomely. Happy fall, my friends.

The Friday Read: A Florida Vacation, the Best Lightweight Jackets and A New Pumpkin Ale

The perfect bag for a weekend getaway — like the one I’m about to enjoy, in fact.

We’ll kick off today’s Friday Read by talking about one of the best duffel bags for fall travel; that’d be the WP Standard Canvas Travel Tote. Why is that so important on this fine fall Friday? Well, I’m packing up one of my favorite weekender bags as we speak — to hit the road to sunny Florida! I was originally supposed to take this trip across Labor Day weekend (as seen in this post here), but the potential for Hurricane Dorian thwarted those plans. So now, it’s time for a do-over, as it were! On tap this weekend? Quite literally, visits to a Fort Myers favorite (Point Ybel Brewing), plus the recently opened Coastal Dayz Brewery, to go along with some beach time, some BBQ (my dad’s famous homemade ribs!) and plenty of relaxation. As per usual, you can follow along on my Instagram! It’s my first time in Florida this year, wildly enough, and I always relish the chance to visit family and take in the beautiful weather. I’ll also be looking forward to getting some final wear out of my favorite gear for summer, seeing as we’re on the verge of *gasp* October. If you happen to be hitting the road for fall, again, get a load of the WP Standard Canvas Travel Tote, one of the best weekender bags you can buy right now. And in the meantime? The below Friday Read should help you start the weekend off quite nicely.

  • Let’s stick with GearMoose for a second, shall we? And again, although my mind isn’t exactly on the best pumpkin beer for the season as I head to Florida, it’s tough to pass up the Montauk Pumpkin Ale, is it not? It’s the ideal beer to enjoy on a crisp fall afternoon (preferably at a tailgate).
  • Is there anything better than realizing the time is finally right to wear your favorite fall jacket? As in, one of the best waxed jackets on the market? From Filson to Taylor Stitch, I rounded up some of my favorites for The Manual. Enjoy the season, my friends!

We’ll keep it fairly brief for today’s Friday Read — but not before I direct you back toward my guide on how to wear black jeans this season. Class ’em up casually with a chambray shirt (in addition to the picks in this #OOTD) or keep it rugged and versatile with your favorite leather boots. Again, stylish black jeans are your secret fall style weapon. OK, that’s all as we close out this last September weekend. Cheers!

See Now, Buy Now: The Rhodes Felix Chukka Boots are the Best Chukka Boots To Buy This Fall

The best men’s chukka boots for your hard-earned cash this season? They very well might be.

So, is it high praise to call a pair of rugged chukka boots the best pair of chukka boots out there? Indeed, it is — but the very good news for you, my friend, is that the Rhodes Felix Chukka Boots really are the best men’s chukka boots for your time and money. Again, that’s high praise, but rest assured, these stylish leather chukka boots (as sold by Huckberry, naturally) are up to the task. Available in rich calf leather options like Tan Nubuck and handsome iterations like Oak Suede, these classic leather chukka boots are as good as it gets, from the silhouette (sleek yet not too dressy), to the functionality (grippy and durable, thanks to the studded rubber outsole).

SHOP: The Rhodes Felix Chukka Boots

Sleek, stylish, versatile chukka boots you won’t be able to get enough of — I guarantee it.

And as with all manner of stylish gear from Huckberry, the hits keep coming — in spades, at that. The Rhodes Felix Chukka Boots deliver the goods through resoleable Blake stitching on the sole, which means you’ll have them for years. What’s more, the option to customize them with dressier flat waxed cotton laces means that these are even the kind of chukka boots you can wear with a suit this fall (and beyond, naturally). But lest you think these are only the kind of boots to wear through fall and then stow come winter time, think again. The handy, functional Texon insole delivers insulation when you need it — keep these classic chukka boots on hand to wear with everything from slim dark denim and a thermal henley to a rugged flannel shirt and classic tan chinos when snow starts to hit. Yes indeed, you’ve really never seen a pair of chukka boots like the Rhodes Felix Chukka Boots — that’s a fact.
