Style Pick of the Week: RRL Slim Fit Selvedge Denim – A Rugged Pair of Men’s Jeans for Fall

Best selvedge denim for men.

It can sometimes feel overwhelming sorting out all the men’s style essentials you feel you might need on hand for fall. Seeing as the current season is arguably the best for menswear — from the layering potential to the return of the best boots for men and other cold-weather favorites — you’ve got a lot of ground to cover.

Huckberry Denim Shop 2023.

Let’s check off one box today though in fine fashion: A pair of the best men’s jeans, the sort that can grow with you through the season ahead and beyond. The sort of stylish men’s jeans that perhaps hung in your closet for summer, yet are now ready to take centerstage. Yes indeed, I’m talking about a pair of the best jeans for men as found in the new Huckberry Denim Shop (keep on scrolling, my friends).

Naturally, the Huckberry Denim Shop isn’t the only place worth shopping broadly today as you look for a new pair of jeans to add to your rotation. Let’s up the ante a bit and go a touch more premium and rugged than perhaps you might be used to wearing.

After all, you want jeans that are built to last, especially in these more casual times — jeans that can add rugged appeal to weekend getaways and fall bonfires, and perhaps even at the office. Allow me to introduce you to the RRL Slim Fit Selvedge Jeans from Huckberry’s denim offering.

For the uninitiated, RRL is the truly Americana-inspired, vintage-leaning, ultra-rugged offshoot of Ralph Lauren and Polo Ralph Lauren; if it’s durable denim, faded shirting and super-cozy sweaters you seek (among others), RRL has you covered. And that goes for these hard-working, seriously cool jeans, too.

RRL men's selvedge jeans.

The RRL Slim Fit Selvedge Jeans stand out from the already-excellent Huckberry crop of jeans for more than a few reasons, starting with the use of 12.4 oz. Japanese selvedge denim. That denim (at least in the pair shown here) features a mix of bronze and olive yarns that should break in nicely over time, although you can also find the RRL Slim Fit Selvedge Jeans in a range of other dark, dusty and indigo shades.

Regularly priced anywhere from $295 (like the Olive pair seen here!) to $459, these handsome jeans also feature USA-sourced rivets and hardware, to go along with USA-made production. And in virtually any shade, you can style the RRL Slim Fit Selvedge Jeans with everything from a henley and a waxed trucker jacket to your favorite Oxford shirt and a pair of the best fall boots for a business casual look.

The best part is, they’ll get better with each and every wear, and that’s one less thing to worry about as you plan out your next fall #OOTD.

The Friday Read: David Beckham, American Apparel and New Mott & Bow Denim

I’m closing out this week on The Style Guide (and heading into next week) thinking ever so slightly of the impending arrival of spring. Doesn’t it seem like we were just talking wool blazers and fall sweaters? It’s pretty wild how the style cycle turns — even now, spring arrivals are hitting shelves (to that end, look for a spring style wish list next week). What top picks do you have your eye on for the coming season? Those new purchases seem to go hand-in-hand will looking toward spring travel, too. Rest assured that future posts will definitely cover off on those types of topics. For now, it’s the close of NYC Beer Week here in the city — somewhat unsurprisingly, there’s almost been too many great events to choose from around New York! So that’s definitely something I’m looking forward to this weekend. And as you look ahead to (maybe) cracking open a cold one yourself,  I’d recommend you kick back and catch up on what you should be shopping and reading this weekend.

  • David Beckham’s work with British brand Kent & Curwen just took another turn — get to know the label’s new creative director here, and get excited for the forthcoming, likely excellent, product.
  • This is from last week, but still worth a share — the fine team at Get Kempt developed what it’s calling the Sartorial Bill of Rights.
  • This story seems to be everywhere (or it certainly has been everywhere) in different forms in the past few years — HighSnobiety looks at the rise and fall of American Apparel.
  • Long Read of the Week: I just came across this feature as I was writing this post, and was sufficiently sidetracked. It might be from last fall, but Valet took an excellent look into “Ralph Lauren University,” interviewing several of the top-notch designers and creative folks who also worked for Ralph Lauren before launching into successful careers in their own right. It’s fascinating and includes plenty of big names, from John Varvatos to Todd Snyder!
  • Lastly — looking to get away out West, and in need of some great gear?

Still on the hunt for what’s new in the men’s style world? Keep looking below.

How is October treating you so far? Well, I hope? I had quite the (unexpectedly) busy week this week as a result of the annual College Music Journal Showcase that’s rolling through Brooklyn and Manhattan. I’ve been lucky enough to both see and spend some time with excellent Brooklyn-based band Mainland (openers for Atlas Genius earlier this fall) as part of my day job — increasingly, becoming a night job — repping Timberland Boots. These guys are worth a listen if you dig The Strokes and bands of that nature, and they’ll be rocking Timberland gear in the coming months to boot! I also had the chance to connect with the team behind Elohim, also fans of Timberland as luck would have it. She churns out great vibes and a super-cool audio-visual experience — look it up! To cap off a busy week, it’s also the weekend of the famed and much-hyped Michigan-Michigan State football game — should be quite exciting all-around. But enough about all that for now. Get a look at the best of the week in men’s style and beyond, below.

  • As you work more transitional style into your fall wardrobe, this piece could be worth a read — GQ breaks down the dressier long-sleeve polo you should incorporate into your closet.
  • Get Kempt toasts the man of the hour on his birthday, Mr. Ralph Lauren.
  • My friends at VOUCH Mag cover off on the three travel journals you should own to bolster your style game in transport.
  • Unbelievable Read of the Week: Switching things up from the regular Long Read this week, a writer at Noisey regales the Internet with the tale of how he tried sell  a bag of air — yes, air — from Williamsburg for $20,000 on eBay.
