I don’t know about you, but just when it seems like I’ve sorted out my summer footwear rotation, I find another pair of stylish men’s shoes worth adding to my rotation. In that case, that’d be leather loafers from the good folks at Huckberry — a pair made by family-owned factory Astorflex no less.
Perhaps you know Astorflex from the craft they’ve perfected, making some of the best chukka boots, but consider these sleek Astorflex leather loafers a worthwhile addition to your wardrobe as summer rolls on.
And yes, in my book, there’s still more than enough time to step into (and properly style) these Astorflex Travel Loafers, which boast handmade construction, a durable rubber heel for added grip, and a low profile you can dress up or dress down.
In my experience, I’ve found these unlined leather loafers wear incredibly easily right out of the box, they pack up nicely in my favorite weekender bag, and they only get better and more supple with age. And yes, as an added bonus, your new favorite pair of leather loafers are now 40 percent off at Huckberry. Go forth with style in mind the rest of summer, my friends.
We talk often here on this Brooklyn men’s style blog about the classics, about the best menswear essentials and standing the test of time. And from their relatively preppy roots to their place in the modern-day menswear pantheon, the best leather loafers for men simply deliver the perfect blend of effortless cool and versatility, one that knocks it out of the park in nearly every way possible.
Of course, the Sebago Dan Loafers fit the bill handsomely in that regard, and it’s even better news that you can score a pair for yourself now at Huckberry. How about that, my friends?
As the famed retailer (a personal favorite and a trusted brand for men) says, these loafers are “a direct descendant of the brand’s first model (and named after one of the brand’s founders),” and that sort of heritage and style simply works quite well, in my book.
The Sebago Dan Loafers are as crisp when paired with cuffed light wash denim as they are with some of the best chinos for men, and it doesn’t hurt that they come in a rich leather at a fairly affordable price ($250, for everyone keeping score at home).
For the rest of summer’s dog days, and then some, opt for an eternally cool pair of stylish leather loafers from a brand (and a retailer) you can assuredly trust. The classics remain the classics for a reason, and some of the best leather loafers for men certainly fit the bill.
I like to talk a lot on this men’s style blog about the best polo shirts for men, but there’s one in particular that’s a cut above the rest, and it’s got a very distinctive seal of approval. The polo shirt in question is the Sunspel Riviera Polo, a standout polo shirt in its own right that took center stage in a big way in the 2006 James Bond classic “Casino Royale.”
As famously worn by Daniel Craig in his first outing as the super spy, the polo shirt epitomized (then and now) casual luxury — a polo shirt as at home in the Bahamas as it is on a balmy day back in Great Britain, where Sunspel polo shirts (and much more) are still crafted with pride.
It’s a step up from other shirts in both price and its general feel and quality — in my experience with the Sunspel Riviera Polo, it wears as easily as a T-shirt, yet delivers polished looks the likes of which 007 himself would certainly approve. James Bond wears his with tan chino pants in the film, and although we can’t all be built like 007, James Bond’s favorite polo boasts a tailored fit and a crisp navy color.
And to this day, the Sunspel Riviera Polo boasts soft long-staple Supima cotton construction for a breathable weave. Better still in the nearly two decades since its first onscreen appearance on the shoulders of Bond, James Bond is the fact that it’s now available in a whopping 21 colors — each boasting that signature fit and construction.
Assuredly, this stylish polo shirt for men is pricey, given its intensively detailed construction and its approval from the world’s favorite secret agent — yet in my experience, the Sunspel Riviera Polo is worth every penny. Want to steal a small taste of 007’s style? The Sunspel Riviera Polo is your best bet for now.
You might be of the mind that you’ve exhausted all your options when it comes to finding a pair of the best sneakers for men to buy in 2025 and 2026, but I’m here to tell you that’s certainly not the case with today’s standout deal. And in fact, you’re able to get an ideal mix of quality and style from GREATS, the Brooklyn-based sneaker upstart with a standout history of hitting the mark on both fronts.
Better still is today’s deal: A chance to secure a pair of retro-style men’s sneakers at a real double whammy of a price. The GREATS Greenpoint Runners build off the New York City brand’s penchant for iconic styles made with durable materials — all the while in on-trend silhouettes. And better still is the deal you’re getting on these crisp, classic sneakers: Try ’em on for 50 percent off via the GREATS Outlet now.
I’ve been a fan of GREATS for close to a decade now, be it trying out timeless sneakers for early fall or looking back on one of my very first GREATS sneaker reviews years ago. Thankfully, the GREATS Greenpoint Runners harken back to the brand’s early days in terms of consistent quality, classic-yet-modern style and a cool-as-can-be silhouette.
And at under $100, the GREATS Greenpoint Runners are some of the most affordable designer-quality sneakers on the market, made with premium leather, soft suede and durable nylon for good measure. This particular colorway pairs with anything in your wardrobe — from light wash denim now to tobacco-hued chinos in early fall — and again, you can’t beat some of the best sneakers for men at 50 percent off.
In my experience, sometimes, you don’t know how valuable some casual men’s basics can be until you’ve gone without them. For instance: On a cool summer night around a bonfire or during a beach sunset stroll, ever been caught without an extra layer? I’m not talking about a heavyweight flannel shirt or a thick hoodie — I’m talking about something like one of the best long-sleeve tees to throw on atop your favorite pair of lounge shorts, especially one from our friends at Huckberry.
It’s an underrated style essential that’s served me well on many a summer beach vacation, especially as cooler weather beckons through the end of late summer. And today, well, you’re in good hands, since Huckberry’s new Trumbull line of American-made basics delivers one of the best long-sleeve tees for men.
It’s an indisputable workhorse, a well-made tee in its own right and a casually cool menswear move to end the season. Heavyweight cotton construction (garment-washed for softness) gives the Trumbull Vintage Wash Long-Sleeve Tee a lived-in feel, just like the kind of tee you’d unearth from a lakehouse closet on a crisp night.
And yet, this stylish men’s long-sleeve tee sits ready and waiting in your T-shirt drawer or your favorite weekender bag without missing a beat — since, well, you’ve hopefully already added it to your cart in a trio of stylish colors.
With its durable made-in-Detroit construction, its relaxed fit (ideal for layering atop a short-sleeve tee with room to move), and its vintage-style look, it’s a perfectly neutral basic you can even layer beneath a trucker jacket alongside blue jeans.
But for transitional style — especially in coastal settings where you need a warmer layer alongside your go-to shorts — I’d say the Trumbull Vintage Wash Long-Sleeve Tee is a surefire bet as far as laidback summer style goes. Try this one on and report back in the comments if you’re a fan. Cheers and thanks for reading!
I’m all about versatile men’s style essentials that deliver the unexpected in evermore different, fresh ways. Of course, in my experience, you can count on Huckberry to design and ship classic menswear with a modern twist, like one of the best polos for men — one that wears, fits and feels more like a T-shirt than the stuffy polo shirts of days gone by.
For starters, this polo is on sale via the always well-stocked Huckberry Sale section for a whopping 40 percent, a steal of a deal that’s too good to pass up. And beyond that, your new favorite polo simply has serious chops, the kind that make it a modern update to a timeless sporting silhouette.
The Flint and Tinder Cotton Hemp Polo starts, of course, with a soft, breezy cotton-blend fabric, one reinforced with hemp for durability and sustainability.
Beyond that, this ultra-soft, stylish polo comes in a range of classic colors (although the Natural option is a personal favorite for a summer-friendly change of pace). It also boasts a tailored-yet-smart fit and a crisp two-button placket. If you’re looking for one of the best men’s polos to wear untucked, easily, with smart chinos at the office or with your favorite linen-blend shorts at a summer BBQ, you might have met your match.
Plus, the use of hemp makes this polo anti-microbial — although in my book, this casually cool polo shirt is such a standout deal at Huckberry, you very well might want more than one in your rotation, especially via this weekend’s sale price. Go forth, opt for an unexpected twist on the polo, and reap the (stylish) rewards, my friends.
Is it possible to improve upon classic style essentials, especially something as essential and all-American as the T-shirt? The good folks at Buck Mason think so, and that’s part of the Los Angeles-based brand’s ongoing effort to make some of the best USA-made T-shirts.
The process started last year with the opening (or rather, re-opening) of the historic Mohnton Mill in Mohnton, PA. The good news for fans of Buck Mason, myself very much included? The effort carries on with a full lineup of the best American-made men’s T-shirts on the market, including the Buck Mason Toughknit Classic Tee.
Although seemingly simple and subtle on the surface, the Buck Mason Toughknit Classic Tee is as good as it gets, with mid-weight cotton construction that hails from USA-grown cotton. It’s a reminder that the best things take time, and that includes growing the proper fibers to lend themselves to one of the best men’s T-shirts.
The fit is also classic but flattering, and it features a straight hem (unlike other Buck Mason men’s T-shirts, some of which feature a curved hem finish).
Buck Mason notes the Buck Mason Toughknit Classic Tee boasts a “subtle texture and easy drape,” which are two further examples of how something as simple as the T-shirt can get all the details correct. Of course, this variety isn’t the only USA-made Buck Mason T-shirt, and the brand knows the legacy it’s carrying on with the latest and greatest American factory.
As the company says, “The t-shirt was born and bred in the USA, from the laborers and service members who wore them first to the cultural icons who made them a part of our everyday lives.” It’s an admirable approach to crafting an utterly classic piece, so the next time you find yourself interested in revamping your wardrobe of casual basics, know that the Buck Mason Toughknit Classic Tee has quality built into every stitch.
Thanks, my friends, for joining us for another edition of The Friday Read, where we cover a bit of everything written by yours truly — from gear to spirits to menswear — to sort out your weekend in style. Today’s post is a bit more of the same, just with a slightly different spin.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I get the chance to hit the road consistently via my many freelance writing pursuits, from spirits to style, music, watches and more. In fact, this CoolMaterial.com review of my favorite Hamilton timepiece hails from one of my more recent freelance trips. But onto business!
This weekend’s jaunt is more on the personal side, although it does touch on my love of music, all the while featuring several talented friends in the industry. Naturally, I also cover indie music over at Atwood Magazine, so you can expect some thoughts in short order on, well, what we’re about to get into below!
Yes indeed, tomorrow I’ll be venturing out to the home of my blonde-haired sweetheart Mary – Scranton, PA! – for the Good Things Are Happening music festival, a bastion of indie rock put on by my friend and talented indie musician James Barrett (himself a Scranton native!).
There’s James above, rocking out last year at the festival he himself tirelessly organizes! James has become a dear friend of mine through our shared love of indie rockers The National, whom we’ve seen twice together in concert — talk about banner nights all around!
You could say that worlds are colliding, what with James’ music, my own personal connection to the area (Hi, Mary!) and of course, a very solid dose of music festival style incoming. I trekked Northeast to Boston in April to see The Killers play at the stellar Boston Calling music festival, so you might say I’m no stranger to festival style as of late (like the rugged, durable stretch jeans found below).
And this time, I plan to take on a sunny (yet likely muddy!) Scranton day wearing a few of my favorite style essentials from Huckberry — including rugged boots and my trusty denim jacket, of course. What’s on your packing list when you hit the road to a music festival?
The forecast calls for sunny skies, so here’s hoping it holds out — and here’s to another standout weekend of craft beer, great tunes, friendship and, dare I say, love! What are you spinning as of late? Let me know in the comments below, and stay tuned for more menswear and music content incoming via my Instagram. Cheers, my friends!
There are plenty of men’s style essentials I simply can’t get enough of in my daily rotation, particularly from Flint and Tinder and the good folks at Huckberry. That list includes a pair of the best men’s jeans, which Huckberry just seems to keep getting better at crafting, and it doesn’t hurt that Flint and Tinder already has the chops as far as crafting rugged style staples is concerned (See: Your favorite waxed trucker jacket, for starters).
And the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans are yet another fitting entry into a well-curated lineup of daily style must-haves, with the specs to run with the best of ’em. Available in both Slim and Straight fits — either of which should prove flattering and versatile — your new favorite blue jeans come in a year-round selvedge denim weight that’s been amped up with a hint of stretch.
The Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans also boast classic selvedge detailing, in addition to a durable weave and design that, as Huckberry says, makes you realize that it’s “no wonder denim enthusiasts call it a favorite.” That goes for my personal experience with some of the best selvedge jeans for men, and I also can’t help but appreciate the vintage-inspired wash (among a trio of options in which you can find the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans).
Details like durable, tough hardware — a Flint and Tinder staple — and a custom suede Flint and Tinder back patch round out these stylish men’s jeans quite nicely, as well. And when paired with your favorite henley and a tough-as-nails waxed trucker jacket, the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans very nearly take the cake as some of the best jeans for men on the market. Try ’em on for size and see for yourself.
As I always tend to say here on your favorite men’s style blog, the classics are the classics for a reason, and Billy Reid just tends to get that correct in every way possible. That certainly goes for a pair of the best chino shorts from the award-winning menswear designer, and the subtly stylish Billy Reid Chino Shorts get the job done — and then some.
Billy Reid calls these crisply designed shorts a “wardrobe staple that is anything but ordinary,” and I’d tend to agree with that sentiment. The fabrication and construction are next-level in terms of quality, which is also a nod to their $158 price tag — call them a worthwhile investment from one of your favorite menswear brands.
A blend of garment-dyed cotton and helpful stretch are just part of the laundry list of well-made features to love, including half-moon interior stitching and bar-tacked pockets. The details make the difference when it comes to the best shorts for men, as Billy Reid knows all too well.
Genuine horn buttons and durable hardware amp these shorts up in the right way, as does the fit, which is both slim and yet classic. Are you sold on adding this new, modern-yet-classic set of shorts to your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments below, and cheers to a stylish summer, my friends.
