See Now, Buy Now: Flint and Tinder’s Stretch Selvedge Denim is Perfect for Effortless Summer Style

It’s a dilemma you might tend to run into one way or another: If you love wearing a pair of the best men’s jeans consistently through the breezy days of spring (and especially in the crisp fall and winter months), well, what’s a guy to do when the thermostat rises — but the need to look sharp in your trusty blue jeans keeps hanging around? That’s where a pair of the best light wash jeans enters the fray, at least in my experience.

Often crafted from denim that’s lighter in weight and expertly faded — again, for a lighter feel and finish — light wash jeans are the smart man’s summer style solution when only the best men’s denim will do.

And folks, that’s where the latest edition of the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Denim comes into play. Dubbed an ‘HB Classic’ by the good folks at Huckberry, the latest and greatest round of the best jeans for men arrives just in time for standout summer style.

In my experience, you can craft a full ensemble for everything from BBQs to brewery visits to breezy coastal days solely using wares from the adventure-meets-Americana retailer, and that goes double for the best jeans for men – remember, they’re made in a lighter, more fresh design for spring and summer, of course.

The Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Denim boast nothing but the best of the best in terms of fabric weight and fabrication, starting with a soft, stretchy 11.7 oz. selvedge denim that Huckberry deems “ideal for year-round wear.” But when it comes to the spring and summer months, that fabric weight is particularly vital.

At least in my experience, when paired with a breezy cotton pocket T-shirt, a camp collar shirt or a short-sleeve henley, the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Denim really shine through, particularly when it comes the summer-friendly light blue colorway, ideal for pairing with tan suede chukka boots, white canvas sneakers or even espadrille sandals.

As with everything Huckberry, the details are on point when it comes to the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Denim, including the use of durable copper rivets and a heritage-inspired back hip leather logo patch. If the details make the difference in the best summer style essentials, which they certainly do, then the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Denim have all the bases covered, and then some. Unlock your new favorite summer denim right now at Huckberry.

See Now, Buy Now: Flint and Tinder Is Now Making the Perfect Oxford Shirt for Year-Round Wear

Best Oxford shirts for men.

When one considers any well-curated roster of men’s style essentials, there are certain must-haves that tend to spring to mind right away: Casual selections like an essential men’s pocket tee or classic blue jeans, plus pieces that just plain old work in nearly any style scenario. That’s where one of the best men’s Oxford shirts enters the equation, regardless of the time of year or the dress code at hand.

And as you well know if you read this very Brooklyn style blog, the good folks at Huckberry tend to cover plenty of bases as far as those men’s style essentials are concerned. Of course, that very much includes your new go-to buttondown shirt, the type of selection you can wear just about any time you please.

The Flint and Tinder Classic Oxford Shirt is billed by Huckberry as a “timeless Oxford shirt,” one that’s been the epitome of “classic, smart-casual style since day one” — the prep roots of the Oxford shirt, plus its role in American style culture (thanks to brands like Brooks Brothers) are nearly indisputable. And that leads us to a modern spin on a classic from Flint and Tinder, the sort of move in which Huckberry excels.

Helpfully, the Flint and Tinder Classic Oxford Shirt gets the details right — big and small — including the use of soft garment-washed fabric for comfort right out of the box. It also comes in a timeless roster of easily wearable colors and patterns, like crisp White, traditional Light Blue and even a sharp, fresh Blue University Stripe option.

A touch of helpful stretch lends mobility and easygoing appeal to the Flint and Tinder Classic Oxford Shirt, while the rest of the details — again, an area in which Huckberry excels — are ideal for versatile style. Take the rounded chest pocket and rounded button cuffs — the handsome Flint and Tinder Classic Oxford Shirt checks all the right boxes, at least in my experience.

It’s also the perfect length to wear tucked in with stretch chinos or untucked with Huckberry’s chino shorts — it doesn’t get much more essential and essentially cool than that, does it, my friends? When you want everyday style you can trust, and a shirt that’s priced affordably for the office or for laidback weekend wear, opt for a fresh spin on a classic — like the Flint and Tinder Classic Oxford Shirt, starting right now and rolling into the rest of spring and summer.

Style Pick of the Week: Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts – Your New Favorite Summer Shorts

Best summer shorts for men.

The intersection of comfort and style can be a tricky balance to strike, but I’ve found that, in my experience, the good folks at Huckberry do quite a bit that goes a long way, especially when it comes to the famed Americana retailer’s Flint and Tinder lineup of menswear.

And comfort plus style is certainly the name of the game when it comes to the best men’s shorts to wear all spring and summer long — take the Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts as shown above, in fact. The Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts carry on the legacy of the 365 lineup of versatile-as-can-be, comfortable-as-can-be men’s style essentials from the in-house brand — its 365 fabric is ultra-soft, smooth and made to move, using 98 percent cotton and just a hint of stretch.

Throw in the fact that the Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts feature a true drawstring waist for stretch and movement, and you just might have found the most comfortable shorts on the market this spring summer.

Like other pairs of the best shorts men, they feature an agreeable 7-inch inseam that should work nicely on most builds, and classic side-slant pockets give the Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts a touch of dressy appeal — dressy enough to wear with leather loafers and your favorite polo or patterned buttondown shirt, that is.

In my experience, the build of the Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts should prove effortlessly cool and comfortable, from BBQs to weekend brunch, rooftop happy hours and coastal getaways aplenty — that’s how shorts should be worn after all, isn’t it? The Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts also come in a selection of neutral, easy-to-style colors, not unlike the endlessly wearable Flint and Tinder 365 Pants.

Although subtle and laidback on the surface, the versatility of these handsome chino shorts is nearly unmatched — try a pair on for size (at least one pair, that is!), and let me know in the comments if you’ve found your new favorite shorts this season. Cheers to style, comfort and the season ahead, my friends.

The Friday Read: The Ultimate Western Weekend with Oskar Blues Brewery & Dale’s Pale Ale

Dale's Pale Ale.

Over the years, I’ve had the great fortune to try some of the best American craft beer on the market — in Brooklyn, in my home state of Michigan and across the country (and the globe — did you know there’s a booming craft beer scene in Madrid!?).

If you follow me on Instagram (or keep up with this blog), you know I’ve got a passion for all things spirits and suds, and I’ve even had the chance to cover the best new microbrews at sites like Maxim.com. In fact, you might say craft beer was my first love, at least before I dove into the world of fine American bourbon — and all that goes with it, of course.

Yes indeed, way back when I was covering the best gear for spring and summer at GearMoose, I also found that the same things I treasured — an expertly cut pair of denim or a well-fitting chambray shirt, for instance — also made for a nice uniform of sorts to wear to… a craft brewery!

It’s the little things that make the difference, and so I find myself once again with the chance to pursue my passions, cover the gear (and beer!) I love, and travel the country (and the world!) while doing so.

And that’s why, live from Denver, I’ve made yet another trek out West with iconic craft brewery Oskar Blues Brewery, makers of the excellent (and groundbreaking) Dale’s Pale Ale as well as a host of other deliciously crushable beers that tend to pair well with outdoor pursuits aplenty.

In fact, in a fun turn of events, the brewery is the official beer of U.S.A. Curling! And with next year’s Winter Olympics on the horizon, Denver is hosting the USA Curling Mixed Fours National Championship — I’ve seen curling on TV, you’ve seen curling on TV but the chance to check it out in person (all while also touring the iconic Oskar Blues Brewery) is too good (and too fun!) to pass up.

Now, Dale’s Pale Ale — a longtime favorite I first discovered when I moved to NYC more than a decade ago, as luck would have it — is far from the only beer Oskar Blues makes, but it’s among the finest and most accessible, with rich malt character and delicate hop spice. It’s a change of pace from the wine I recently sipped in the French Riviera (more on that below), but one I welcome as a return to form — who can turn down a fresh beer right off the canning line?

But enough about beer — for now, at least. I’ll be outfitting myself with rugged style favorites best suited for a brewery tour, like Flint and Tinder menswear from Huckberry. Those aren’t the only menswear selections I’ve brought with me out West, of course, as you know if you (repeat after me) follow me on Instagram.

Sturdy Blundstone boots and a great field watch are also top of mind. In the meantime, it’s the best of all worlds in my neck of the woods: Fresh beer, rugged menswear and a glimpse of fresh air and blue sky in lovely Denver. Again, keep up with me on social media to follow along with all the fun, and keep it locked here for two stylish spring blog posts headed your way on Saturday and Sunday. As ever, thank you for reading!

See Now, Buy Now: Flint and Tinder’s American Heavyweight Pocket Tee is a Casual, Everyday Must-Have for Spring and Summer

Best T-shirts for men to buy now.

There are certain steps in the process to building a wardrobe filled with men’s style essentials that can represent a bit of a turning point, at least in my experience. Finding a pair of stylish leather boots or a perfectly fitted pair of jeans is a milestone in any season, for instance.

But when you invest in the best when it comes to your more casual, everyday basics — like finding one of the best men’s T-shirts — well, that’s when you’ve truly rounded a corner heading into a new season. In fact, as we often talk about here on the blog, you’ll find upgrades like that in every category within the friendly confines of Huckberry’s well-stocked digital outlet (to say the very least).

And when you buy less, but buy better, when you invest in your basics and discover a never-before-seen level of quality, reliability and dependability, that’s when your wardrobe of spring style must-haves gets even better.

The Flint and Tinder American Heavyweight Pocket T-shirt definitely qualifies in that regard, and learning more about one of the best American-made T-shirts is a wise way to start a new spring week. The hard-working, well-made Flint and Tinder American Heavyweight Pocket T-shirt checks plenty of the proper boxes when it comes to ramping up your T-shirt drawer.

In fact, in my experience, your new favorite T-shirt goes well beyond just serving as an undershirt or a base layer (although this handsome pocket T-shirt is definitely more than ready to add style and substance to any #OOTD featuring a stylish lightweight jacket).

The Flint and Tinder American Heavyweight Pocket T-shirt starts with a substantial yet soft 8.5oz. cotton construction, which is made all the better by garment-washing and dying for added softness. In a plethora of helpful, stylish colors, your new favorite pocket tee should fit tailored in a flattering manner, rather than baggy or oversized (which seems to be the trend these days among T-shirts). When in doubt, take your normal T-shirt size in any shade of the stylish, versatile Flint and Tinder American Heavyweight Pocket T-shirt.

Fear not, because in any color — and whether worn on its own or beneath a waxed trucker jacket — this American-made T-shirt is the sort of casual, everyday style upgrade that’ll offer a noticeable difference from the jump.

With the Flint and Tinder American Heavyweight Pocket T-shirt, that extends from its rugged good looks to its clean fit and exceptional fabric — each of which makes it worth the higher asking price compared to other T-shirts on the market. The next time you reach for a new casual tee in a laidback style scenario, make sure it’s the Flint and Tinder American Heavyweight Pocket T-shirt.

The Sunday Sale: This Flint and Tinder Quilted Chore Coat is a Menswear Bargain for Spring Layering

If you’ve been on the hunt for the best spring style essentials, perhaps you feel like you’ve unlocked a sort of menswear formula of sorts. Rugged quality, longevity and style points should be top of mind in that formula, particularly as you take on spring wind and rain, and a dependable jacket goes a long way. A dependable jacket from the likes of Huckberry, you might say?

Yes indeed, one with a reliable silhouette — the build of the humble chore coat — and the right fabrication to back up can make a big difference as you layer up this season, and if you’ve read this Brooklyn style blog over the years, you know the drill.

In fact, you might find just what you’re looking for in the Flint and Tinder Quilted Chore Coat, a casually cool, durable outerwear addition that just so happens to be on sale at Huckberry this fine Sunday. The famed Americana retailer is well-known for its standout Flint and Tinder line, which takes cues from workwear of days gone by, including the humble trucker jacket, the flannel workshirt and now, a fresh take on the chore coat.

Reliable technical specifications lead the way with the latest inspired offering from Huckberry, including warm (but not bulky) PrimaLoft insulation and a sturdy DWR-finished waxed exterior. Snap buttons keep out wind and rain while making for an easygoing (yet functional) wearing experience with the Flint and Tinder Quilted Chore Coat.

It’s cut longer than the brand’s legendary trucker jackets, ideal for keeping out spring’s worst weather, while the fold-up collar of the Flint and Tinder Quilted Chore Coat also offers ample protection from the elements.

And because this is the Sunday Sale feature, after all, you’d do well to know the Flint and Tinder Quilted Chore Coat is marked down $50 (to $148 from $198). Throw in a versatile color on offer in a crisp, wear-with-nearly-anything Navy, and you’re looking at perhaps your new favorite casual spring men’s jacket.

Four pockets (one interior, three exterior) provide helpful storage space for your everyday carry essentials, and you can adjust the snap cuffs on the Flint and Tinder Quilted Chore Coat as needed for extra protection this spring.

The Tuesday Steal: This On-Sale Flint and Tinder Jacket is Perfectly Rugged for Spring Weather

Flint and Tinder waxed jacket review.

There’s a happy medium to strike as you sort through your array of men’s style essentials, especially for spring: Blustery weather can strike at any moment, and proper preparation (and style) calls for building an outfit with a rugged performance jacket in mind. There’s also a line to walk between performance (the kind of jacket you’d wear to go hiking or camping), and more casual everyday style (the kind of jacket you’d wear with crisp jeans and chukka boots).

My friends at Huckberry — and your friends at Huckberry, of course — have a way in terms of finding the expert middle ground between toughness, form and function, and it’s all on display rather handsomely with the new, on-sale Flint and Tinder York Quilted Jacket (we’re talking about the Tuesday Steal, after all).

The Flint and Tinder York Quilted Jacket carries on the brand’s penchant for sturdy, strong yet supple waxed jackets, each more carefully crafted than the last. This particular option (marked down below $180 from nearly $300) turns the typical Flint and Tinder formula — classic trucker jackets and field jackets — on its head by opting instead for a streamlined puffer jacket design.

The same trademark weatherproof treatment remains top of mind, as Huckberry worked with famed British producer Halley Stevenson on a custom Halley Stevensons Dry Finish Waxed Cotton Canvas fabric in a tough 8.6 oz weight. That means the Flint and Tinder York Quilted Jacket is a touch heavier than the 7oz. waxed sailcloth of the iconic Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket, which just so happens to be another fine spring wardrobe addition.

And while the body of this jacket is lined with 100 percent nylon for strength and an easy-on, easy-off touch, recycled polyester and PrimaLoft fill out key stress points (like the collar) for additional warmth without a ton of weight.

The hard-wearing Flint and Tinder York Quilted Jacket even comes in Huckberry’s signature Field Tan color, or a versatile shade of Dark Olive. Sizes are going quickly now that it’s prime time to rock this casually cool, functionally minded take on the puffer jacket. Think of it like your old-school quilted puffer, yet amped up with the sort of style and utility only Huckberry can provide. You can’t go wrong with spring savings and style on the Flint and Tinder York Quilted Jacket, my friends.

The Thursday Buy: This Flint and Tinder Western Shirt Puts a Modern Spin on a Rugged Classic

Best Western shirts for men.

As you build out your spring style rotation and look to bolster your wardrobe with stylish menswear aplenty, perhaps you find yourself exploring a mix of both old and new styles, picks that seem familiar but also feel fresh. While the denim shirt is a tried-and-true style classic, all things Western are having a serious moment right now (thank you, Yellowstone!).

So while a stylish denim shirt seems familiar, picking up a new twist on the style — one of the best Western shirts for men from the good folks at Huckberry — seems to be a wise move heading into the breezy climes of spring, does it not?

It feels classic yet contemporary, and the latest and greatest edition of the Flint and Tinder Bone Button Western Shirt certainly checks the right boxes in terms of durability, rugged appeal, crisp style and even versatility. Let’s take a closer look at perhaps your new favorite shirt, shall we?

Part of a refreshed rotation of stylish men’s shirts at Huckberry for spring, this on-trend take on the Western shirt still keeps the classic details front and center, despite its more eye-catching pattern.

With strong USA-made construction featuring 8oz. 100 percent cotton – light enough to wear on its own on hot days, sturdy enough to wear over a T-shirt or henley when it’s more breezy – I’d say the Flint and Tinder Bone Button Western Shirt is about as versatile as it gets in terms of casual shirting. In fact, you can even style this handsome Western shirt in slightly elevated fashion, as Huckberry showcases by teaming it with a Western-style blazer.

And recall what we said about those classic touches being front and center: The Flint and Tinder Bone Button Western Shirt boasts burnt cow bone button snaps, plus two angled chest pockets in timeless Western shirt fashion.

Huckberry notes this shirt features durable stitching for good measure, and it comes in the company’s standard range of sizes — nicely tailored, but not overly tight nor too relaxed. When it comes to a slight style swerve from the norm, this tasteful Western shirt could be just what the (style) doctor ordered — and that’s a winner in my book for expert spring men’s fashion, folks.

See Now, Buy Now: This New Flint and Tinder Denim Jacket is a Casually Rugged Outerwear Essential

Best denim jackets for spring.

There are certain men’s style must-haves I find myself reaching for throughout a specific season that tend to prove their worth time and time again: For those who dress more formally, that might be a classic blazer or an essential pair of chinos, and for those who value casually rugged fashion (guilty as charged!), that might be one of the best denim jackets for spring from the good folks at Huckberry.

The right denim jacket — like the Flint and Tinder Type II Denim Jacket shown above — can go a long way towards proper transitional style, particularly when worn casually over your favorite T-shirt or a rugged henley (just look to a modern style icon like Ryan Gosling for inspiration on how to wear a denim jacket — more on that in a moment).

The best denim jackets are neither too heavy or stuffy, nor too light — the denim trucker jacket was originally designed to be worn on the open road, and Huckberry’s Flint and Tinder line delivers a faithful homage to the iconic Type II style worn decades ago.

What does that mean for your wardrobe of spring style essentials? It means that a sturdy selvedge denim jacket — finished with stretch for comfort — can provide some comfort against chill spring breezes while easing you back into slightly warmer weather.

It also means that details like two button chest pockets can provide critical everyday carry storage space — of course, Huckberry men’s jackets are built for most anything, this one very much included. The Flint and Tinder Type II Denim Jacket also comes in a pleasing light wash for spring, the kind of shade of denim that lightens things up from the dark, substantial hues of fall and winter.

Best light wash denim jacket for spring.

The double-pleat design on the Flint and Tinder Type II Denim Jacket mimics the original version of the jacket released back in 1953, while Huckberry wisely finished off your new favorite denim jacket with a locker loop at the neck (all the better for hanging this jacket up on a hook after a long day in the field). There’s even a leather patch logo for a subtly stylish finish — and yet another mark of quality craftsmanship that sets the Flint and Tinder Type II Denim Jacket apart from even the best men’s denim jackets on the market.

With the proper details, the correct fit and the versatility that comes from an updated version of an icon, this durable new denim jacket seems destined to become a spring style classic in your wardrobe (and in mine).
