The Sunday Sale: Save on this Classic-Meets-Modern Flint and Tinder Polo from Huckberry

I’m all about versatile men’s style essentials that deliver the unexpected in evermore different, fresh ways. Of course, in my experience, you can count on Huckberry to design and ship classic menswear with a modern twist, like one of the best polos for men — one that wears, fits and feels more like a T-shirt than the stuffy polo shirts of days gone by.

For starters, this polo is on sale via the always well-stocked Huckberry Sale section for a whopping 40 percent, a steal of a deal that’s too good to pass up. And beyond that, your new favorite polo simply has serious chops, the kind that make it a modern update to a timeless sporting silhouette.

The Flint and Tinder Cotton Hemp Polo starts, of course, with a soft, breezy cotton-blend fabric, one reinforced with hemp for durability and sustainability.

Beyond that, this ultra-soft, stylish polo comes in a range of classic colors (although the Natural option is a personal favorite for a summer-friendly change of pace). It also boasts a tailored-yet-smart fit and a crisp two-button placket. If you’re looking for one of the best men’s polos to wear untucked, easily, with smart chinos at the office or with your favorite linen-blend shorts at a summer BBQ, you might have met your match.

Plus, the use of hemp makes this polo anti-microbial — although in my book, this casually cool polo shirt is such a standout deal at Huckberry, you very well might want more than one in your rotation, especially via this weekend’s sale price. Go forth, opt for an unexpected twist on the polo, and reap the (stylish) rewards, my friends.

Style Pick of the Week: Buck Mason USA-Made Classic Tees – The Best American-Made Tee

Best USA-made T-shirt for men.

Is it possible to improve upon classic style essentials, especially something as essential and all-American as the T-shirt? The good folks at Buck Mason think so, and that’s part of the Los Angeles-based brand’s ongoing effort to make some of the best USA-made T-shirts.

The process started last year with the opening (or rather, re-opening) of the historic Mohnton Mill in Mohnton, PA. The good news for fans of Buck Mason, myself very much included? The effort carries on with a full lineup of the best American-made men’s T-shirts on the market, including the Buck Mason Toughknit Classic Tee.

Buck Mason men's T-shirts review.

Although seemingly simple and subtle on the surface, the Buck Mason Toughknit Classic Tee is as good as it gets, with mid-weight cotton construction that hails from USA-grown cotton. It’s a reminder that the best things take time, and that includes growing the proper fibers to lend themselves to one of the best men’s T-shirts.

Buck Mason men's T-shirt review.

The fit is also classic but flattering, and it features a straight hem (unlike other Buck Mason men’s T-shirts, some of which feature a curved hem finish).

Buck Mason notes the Buck Mason Toughknit Classic Tee boasts a “subtle texture and easy drape,” which are two further examples of how something as simple as the T-shirt can get all the details correct. Of course, this variety isn’t the only USA-made Buck Mason T-shirt, and the brand knows the legacy it’s carrying on with the latest and greatest American factory.

As the company says, “The t-shirt was born and bred in the USA, from the laborers and service members who wore them first to the cultural icons who made them a part of our everyday lives.” It’s an admirable approach to crafting an utterly classic piece, so the next time you find yourself interested in revamping your wardrobe of casual basics, know that the Buck Mason Toughknit Classic Tee has quality built into every stitch.

The Friday Read: A Scranton Music Festival Weekend in Northeast Pennsylvania

Good Things Are Happening Music Festival.

Thanks, my friends, for joining us for another edition of The Friday Read, where we cover a bit of everything written by yours truly — from gear to spirits to menswear — to sort out your weekend in style. Today’s post is a bit more of the same, just with a slightly different spin.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I get the chance to hit the road consistently via my many freelance writing pursuits, from spirits to style, music, watches and more. In fact, this CoolMaterial.com review of my favorite Hamilton timepiece hails from one of my more recent freelance trips. But onto business!

This weekend’s jaunt is more on the personal side, although it does touch on my love of music, all the while featuring several talented friends in the industry. Naturally, I also cover indie music over at Atwood Magazine, so you can expect some thoughts in short order on, well, what we’re about to get into below!

Yes indeed, tomorrow I’ll be venturing out to the home of my blonde-haired sweetheart Mary – Scranton, PA! – for the Good Things Are Happening music festival, a bastion of indie rock put on by my friend and talented indie musician James Barrett (himself a Scranton native!).

There’s James above, rocking out last year at the festival he himself tirelessly organizes! James has become a dear friend of mine through our shared love of indie rockers The National, whom we’ve seen twice together in concert — talk about banner nights all around!

You could say that worlds are colliding, what with James’ music, my own personal connection to the area (Hi, Mary!) and of course, a very solid dose of music festival style incoming. I trekked Northeast to Boston in April to see The Killers play at the stellar Boston Calling music festival, so you might say I’m no stranger to festival style as of late (like the rugged, durable stretch jeans found below).

And this time, I plan to take on a sunny (yet likely muddy!) Scranton day wearing a few of my favorite style essentials from Huckberry — including rugged boots and my trusty denim jacket, of course. What’s on your packing list when you hit the road to a music festival?

The forecast calls for sunny skies, so here’s hoping it holds out — and here’s to another standout weekend of craft beer, great tunes, friendship and, dare I say, love! What are you spinning as of late? Let me know in the comments below, and stay tuned for more menswear and music content incoming via my Instagram. Cheers, my friends!

The Thursday Buy: These Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans are Your New Go-To Pair

Best selvedge jeans for men.

There are plenty of men’s style essentials I simply can’t get enough of in my daily rotation, particularly from Flint and Tinder and the good folks at Huckberry. That list includes a pair of the best men’s jeans, which Huckberry just seems to keep getting better at crafting, and it doesn’t hurt that Flint and Tinder already has the chops as far as crafting rugged style staples is concerned (See: Your favorite waxed trucker jacket, for starters).

Best selvedge jeans for men.

And the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans are yet another fitting entry into a well-curated lineup of daily style must-haves, with the specs to run with the best of ’em. Available in both Slim and Straight fits — either of which should prove flattering and versatile — your new favorite blue jeans come in a year-round selvedge denim weight that’s been amped up with a hint of stretch.

The Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans also boast classic selvedge detailing, in addition to a durable weave and design that, as Huckberry says, makes you realize that it’s “no wonder denim enthusiasts call it a favorite.” That goes for my personal experience with some of the best selvedge jeans for men, and I also can’t help but appreciate the vintage-inspired wash (among a trio of options in which you can find the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans).

Details like durable, tough hardware — a Flint and Tinder staple — and a custom suede Flint and Tinder back patch round out these stylish men’s jeans quite nicely, as well. And when paired with your favorite henley and a tough-as-nails waxed trucker jacket, the Flint and Tinder Stretch Selvedge Jeans very nearly take the cake as some of the best jeans for men on the market. Try ’em on for size and see for yourself.

See Now, Buy Now: Billy Reid’s Chino Shorts are the Refined-Yet-Casual Shorts Your Summer Needs

Best chino shorts for men.

As I always tend to say here on your favorite men’s style blog, the classics are the classics for a reason, and Billy Reid just tends to get that correct in every way possible. That certainly goes for a pair of the best chino shorts from the award-winning menswear designer, and the subtly stylish Billy Reid Chino Shorts get the job done — and then some.

Billy Reid calls these crisply designed shorts a “wardrobe staple that is anything but ordinary,” and I’d tend to agree with that sentiment. The fabrication and construction are next-level in terms of quality, which is also a nod to their $158 price tag — call them a worthwhile investment from one of your favorite menswear brands.

A blend of garment-dyed cotton and helpful stretch are just part of the laundry list of well-made features to love, including half-moon interior stitching and bar-tacked pockets. The details make the difference when it comes to the best shorts for men, as Billy Reid knows all too well.

Genuine horn buttons and durable hardware amp these shorts up in the right way, as does the fit, which is both slim and yet classic. Are you sold on adding this new, modern-yet-classic set of shorts to your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments below, and cheers to a stylish summer, my friends.

The Tuesday Steal: Save Big on this Rugged Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt from Huckberry

In the search for the best men’s style essentials, pieces that really, truly live up to their name can be hard to find, at least at a discount that saves you some hard-earned cash. Take the Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt, a personal favorite of mine and a tried-and-true piece from one of my favorite brands. You’re in luck if you’re on the hunt for a durable, rugged shirt, one you can wear on situations both more workwear-oriented and more casual.

And that’s because it’s on sale right now via the vaunted Huckberry Sale section, and it’s got the chops to serve as an all-purpose shirt — be that for a weekend coffee date, a casual day at the office or a night under the stars out on the trail. Yes indeed, in my experience, the Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt can do all of that and more, and it all comes down to durable fabrication and construction.

Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt review.

With the Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt, the brand has hit a nice middle ground between traditional workwear and classic buttondown shirting, using 100 percent organic cotton construction in a tough crosshatch weave. It doesn’t hurt that the shirt is reinforced with added stitching at key stress points, including at the buttonholes and seams.

And of course, the Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt boasts stylish fabric, to boot: It’s made with a sun bleached indigo check design for casually cool style, whether worn with dark tan chinos, olive linen trousers or even expertly faded blue jeans and tough leather work boots.

Thanks to the brand’s easy-to-follow chest sizing, you can even wear this hard-working shirt on its own atop a pocket tee or buttoned up for a casual brewery beer outing (another advantage to many pieces of gear within the Huckberry Sale section). For utility that really lives up to its name, plus some serious style points along the way, opt for this must-have shirt — at a 30 percent discount! — via Huckberry, my friends.

See Now, Buy Now: Cap Off Any Summer #OOTD With the Famed Huckberry Explorer Hat

Huckberry Explorer's Cap

It can be difficult, sometimes, for an accessory to cement itself as something of a modern style classic, or at least, a cult favorite. And yet, when it comes to Huckberry and the famed retailer’s lineup of the best accessories for men, you might say that the Huckberry Explorer’s Cap hits the mark quite nicely indeed.

In my experience, it’s as well-made, durable and stylish as any men’s hat on the market, with the right mix of old-school-meets-modern good looks.

Huckberry Explorer's Cap review.

And of course, since it’s made by Huckberry, you can rest easy knowing there’s quality in every stitch. I don’t say that lightly: I’ve had a selection of Huckberry Explorer’s Cap (previously made with Ebbets Field Flannels) in my rotation for years (about seven, to be exact!). Suffice to say, this cap has been a staple of many a summer #OOTD of mine in all that time.

In fact, the Huckberry Explorer’s Cap (possibly your new favorite ballcap) is back and better than ever, starting with its construction: It’s made this time from broken-in brushed bull denim, a tough yet supple material that’ll get better with age.

Each Huckberry Explorer’s Cap also now comes outfitted with a moisture-wicking sweatband, not to mention the classic touches that have adorned earlier versions of the style, like a leather strapback with an adjustable brass buckle.

It’s the small details that make the difference when it comes to the best ballcaps for men, the Huckberry Explorer’s Cap very much included. In my opinion, I appreciate the cool, retro-looking “H” front logo, not to mention Huckberry’s signature “See You Out There” tagline across the back opening.

For good measure, the Huckberry Explorer’s Cap is also available in three versatile, sharp color combinations, including a new navy-and-yellow offering. In search of a rugged, casual yet versatile way to top off your next summer weekend ensemble? You’ve got just the new ballcap, courtesy of our friends at Huckberry.

The Sunday Sale: This Go-Anywhere Marine Layer Buttondown Is Now More than 30 Percent Off

Best buttondown shirts for men.

In my experience, building out a menswear wardrobe is a process that takes time, patience and a sense of knowing what works for you. That’s why I lean on staples like the best Oxford shirts, classic blue jeans, canvas sneakers and rugged chukka boots… you get the picture. And if ever the chance arises to save big while filling out your rotation of stylish menswear essentials, that’s even better.

That brings us to today’s weekend closeout, a stylish set of savings on an even more stylish buttondown shirt from the good folks at Huckberry and Marine Layer.

For a limited time only, you can score a true go-anywhere buttondown shirt — a casually cool shirt fit for a laidback day at the office or a backyard BBQ, no less — at a steal of a deal via the Huckberry Sale section.

Best buttondown shirts for men.

Yes, my friends: The Marine Layer Classic Stretch Selvage Shirt is now more than 30 percent off, with the crisp design and classic good looks to stand in for your favorite Oxford shirt in a way that’s just a bit more rugged and visually appealing.

Slub yarns give the shirt a broken-in look and feel, while the texture itself is just a bit more casual than one of the best Oxford shirts (and yes, Huckberry stocks those sorts of shirts, too). And unlike a classic Oxford shirt, this shirt features a spread collar, so it’s a touch more easygoing while still flattering your face. And when marked down to below $100, it’s a nice addition to your shirting rotation, one that you needn’t think too hard about wearing.

Team it with your favorite light wash jeans, wear it with a modern pair of the Flint and Tinder 365 Shorts and grab your go-to canvas sneakers — this shirt can do just about anything you ask of it, all the while saving you some dough in the process. That sounds like a shirt worth buying, in my experience. Have at it, my friends, and thanks for reading!

Style Pick of the Week: Mack Weldon Swim Trunks – An Expertly Crafted Pair for Your Next Getaway

Unfortunately, we’re not quite out of the woods yet as far as the high heat of summer is concerned, and perhaps that means it’s time to evaluate the status of your swimwear. A refresh is never a bad thing to consider, especially if you’ve been hanging onto an older pair of swim trunks that’s been put through the ringer these past few weeks and months.

That’s why I trust Mack Weldon to deliver some of the best of the best when it comes to men’s accessories (and more, of course).

In my experience, the best men’s swim trunks can lend themselves quite handily to a stylish swim, as well as a more comfortable, dare I say better, dip in the pool or ocean. I’m already a major fan of Mack Weldon men’s shirts for their comfort, durability and breathability (plus a dialed-in, yet not overly tight, fit). And luckily for all of us, Mack Weldon swim trunks are a supremely safe, solid bet in terms of performance and beach-ready good looks.

I’ve tried out Mack Weldon swim trunks over the years, and have been impressed by the lightweight, supple yet strong fabric (a four-way stretch blend that’s proprietary to Mack Weldon). The fabric on these Mack Weldon swim trunks dries quickly and doesn’t weigh you down, while the micro-mesh liner is comfortable and supportive, rather than cumbersome.

I’ve also found that these Mack Weldon swim trunks get the fit just right — the 6″ inseam is a touch sporty, with a fit that hugs my legs without proving too tight or constricting. One of my favorite features about Mack Weldon swim trunks, though? The seam-sealed side and back zipper pockets, ideal for holding small everyday carry essentials on the go.

For good measure, my new favorite pair of Mack Weldon swim trunks come in a vibrant range of colors and styles, all the better to suit every sense of taste. And right now, these performance-ready swim trunks are even marked down to just about $61 — that deal is an excellent one given their quality and value. In my opinion, a set of Mack Weldon swim trunks belong in your getaway bag the next time you pack up to catch some surf, sand and sun.

The Friday Read: A Summer Weekend in Nashville at The Joseph Hotel

Folks, welcome to another Friday on The Style Guide, and another dispatch from the road as part of my many freelance writing pursuits. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that I cover much more than the best menswear, including fine luxury spirits, travel, watches and audio gear. And in the case of my latest freelance jaunt (past trips this year have included stints in Ireland and Germany!), worlds are colliding, so to speak.

I’m currently on the road in rollicking Nashville, which just so happens to be home to a heck of a lot more than just honky-tonks and rock venues (although it’s a mecca for those, too). I’m here on behalf of The Joseph Hotel, a luxe, contemporary art-filled space known for its immaculate Four Walls craft cocktail bar.

The luxurious bar is the site of the action this weekend, as it’s playing host to a momentous mixology pop-up. Four Walls is turning into a collaborative flagship for London’s famed Lyaness for a limited time, and the cocktails on offer should be very opulent indeed.

Four Walls Bar at The Joseph.

As if it wasn’t exciting enough to sample some of the world’s most carefully crafted libations, each cocktail draws on a distinctly Nashville source of inspiration: The Frist Art Museum’s current gallery exhibition, Lee Alexander McQueen & Ann Ray: Rendez-Vous.

Myself and my fellow travel and spirits journalists will taste our way through the Four Walls menu, experience the Frist Art Museum gallery in all its engaging creativity, and of course, take in other iconic Nashville destinations, like the Gibson Garage.

It’s the Music City meeting mixology meeting modern art, and I positively can’t wait for another round. I’ve traveled to the Music City in the past and also loved checking out menswear hot spots like denim and Americana atelier Imogene + Willie, always a personal favorite brand when it comes to the best men’s jeans and more.

Best chambray shirt for men.

There’s no shortage of exciting sights, sounds and sips in Nashville any way you slice it, especially at a seriously cool hotel like The Joseph. To keep up with all the action this weekend, head to my Instagram, and in the meantime, you can expect two stylish summer dispatches hitting the blog this weekend, including tomorrow’s Style Pick of the Week. As always, thanks for reading, thanks for following along and THANK YOU for supporting my work! Cheers!
