The Thursday Buy: This Is Your New Everyday Flannel Shirt from Huckberry and Flint and Tinder

Flint and Tinder flannel shirt review.

In my experience, a guy’s wardrobe of men’s style essentials needs rugged, cozy yet versatile options aplenty across the brisk months of autumn, and that certainly holds true even if you find yourself splitting time between home and the office.

For fall weekends galore, for those casual days at home and for nearly every time in between (See: Weekend coffee outings and whiskey bar visits), a reliable flannel shirt can work wonders when it comes to classic, flattering style. The even better news, as you might expect, is that Flint and Tinder has just the one you need now.

Heck, depending on the sort of office you work in, you might even be able to get away with wearing one of the best flannel shirts from Huckberry, like the ever-reliable Flint and Tinder Midweight Flannel Shirt shown above (I’m wearing one right now as I type this).

We’ve talked lately about versatile buttondown shirts from Flint and Tinder, the sort that more closely resemble an Oxford shirt (like the F&T Architect Shirt), but this particular number is a bit more casually rugged — and no less essential when it comes to your wardrobe.

In my book, the Flint and Tinder Midweight Flannel Shirt checks the proper boxes as far as a modern update to the traditional flannel shirt is concerned. Those boxes include the right fabric, which in this case is a 7.6oz., custom-developed 100 percent cotton flannel — not as dressy as an Oxford shirt, not as heavy as a burly Flint and Tinder shirt jacket.

Raglan-stitched sleeves give you room to move and room to layer — useful as you gear up for fall road trips, and even more useful if you’d like to rock the Flint and Tinder Midweight Flannel Shirt atop a base layer, like a henley. Crucially, this handsome flannel shirt comes in an oversized-yet-timeless, bold plaid in three distinct variations, and the brushed flannel exterior should prove ultra-soft and supremely comfortable.

It’s the kind of rugged, hard-wearing choice that makes every guy look casually cool in laidback style situations — even if your office for the day happens to be your favorite coffee shop. Join the club and join me in wearing one of the best men’s flannel shirts for fall — the season is upon us, after all.

See Now, Buy Now: Get This Rugged Heritage Jacket from Flint and Tinder As Soon as Possible

Flint and Tinder wool jacket review.

These days, as brisk weather persists and leaves crunch underfoot, rugged style remains the name of the game. And folks, that’s where Huckberry continues to deliver with yet another standout style from its Flint and Tinder line.

We’ve talked plenty as of late about the best men’s jackets and boots for fall (and beyond) from the famed retailer, and the Flint and Tinder Heritage Wool Jacket is a return to form in every way possible.

Or rather, it carries on the brand’s legacy of bringing forward classic styles — like the time-honored heavyweight wool jacket — into the present. The Flint and Tinder Heritage Wool Jacket takes its cues from old-school work jackets, the kind your grandfather might have worn on a frigid fall or winter day, and boasts all the design cues needed to really get down to business.

Those touches include wool snap chest pockets (including a double pocket on the left side), along with sturdy double stitch construction at key stress points. Yes indeed, the Flint and Tinder Heritage Wool Jacket is everything you need in a warmer wool jacket — it’s a durable step up from the famed Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket, no doubt about it.

And with its handsome plaid colorway and classic good looks, it’s a timeless piece that wouldn’t look out of place on, say, Robert Redford decades ago. If that’s the kind of style and utility your wardrobe could use, you’re certainly in luck when it comes to the Flint and Tinder Heritage Wool Jacket. Cheers, my friends.

See Now, Buy Now: Flint and Tinder’s Latest Quilted Jacket is Made for Shoulder Season

Flint and Tinder men's jackets.

Ahh, yes: Shoulder season. The term given as a nickname for fall or autumn by those who love layering up with the finest menswear essentials, outerwear and more. And it’s as fine a term as any to give to the best time in the menswear pantheon, as the crisp temperatures of fall lend themselves quite nicely to throwing on, say, the new Flint and Tinder Jackson Quilted Jacket.

Already known for crafting some of the hardest-wearing, toughest outerwear on the market via Huckberry, Flint and Tinder goes in a slightly different direction with its latest release.

The Flint and Tinder Jackson Quilted Jacket riffs on both the puffer jacket and the shirt jacket in its hybrid style, which Huckberry says “combines classic style with modern functionality.” If looks are to be believed, the company is once again right on the money.

The Flint and Tinder Jackson Quilted Jacket boasts all the hallmarks of one of the best shirt jackets for men, from the easy-access snap front to the oversized snap button chest pockets. Even its side pockets snap shut for added everyday carry storage, and the nylon exterior is water-resistant for an added shot of performance.

As to be expected in its name, the Flint and Tinder Jackson Quilted Jacket is built out with 80-gram recycled polyester fill for warmth that’s also easy to move around in — or layer atop another rugged Flint and Tinder buttondown, for instance.

Helpfully in matters of style, the Flint and Tinder Jackson Quilted Jacket comes in a series of rich seasonal colors, like Dark Forest or Brick. Each would pair up easily with an natural-colored henley and indigo jeans, or else with a plaid flannel buttondown and Flint and Tinder’s famed 365 Pants.

It’s a quick, easy-on, easy-off layer with a refined shirt collar design that elevates the traditional puffer jacket in stylish, rugged fashion, and those touches make the new Flint and Tinder Jackson Quilted Jacket a must-buy for the weeks and months ahead.

The Friday Read: A Pennsylvania Cabin Weekend & New Fall Menswear From Huckberry

Flint and Tinder Fall 2024 menswear.

We’re back in action on a Friday in a big way here at your favorite Brooklyn style blog, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s a prime Northeast fall weekend after all, the kind that makes you want to break out as many fall style essentials as your wardrobe and your seasonal #OOTD can handle.

And it’s the kind of weekend well-suited for the rugged, utterly classic yet modern stylings of Flint and Tinder, everyone’s favorite in-house brand from the fine folks at Huckberry.

The Flint and Tinder Fall 2024 Collection just dropped, and it features a slew of seriously cool, durable icons, like the Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket — and so much more beyond that, of course. We just talked on the blog, of course, about a standout new waxed jacket from Flint and Tinder, and that piece is just one of the many stars of this collection.

It’s packed with the sort of menswear I positively can’t get enough of, and I’ll be bringing my trusty Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket on a fitting fall weekend excursion of my own, as luck would have it. I’m off into the wilderness of northeast Pennsylvania for a true log cabin getaway weekend with my love Mary, and I’m bringing plenty of rugged Huckberry menswear with me.

On the agenda? Bonfires, whiskey, day hikes and leisurely cabin mornings, just as the good folks at Huckberry (and a good few many of my other favorite brands) would have it. For this occasion, I’ll be off the grid, but you can expect some posts here and there on my Instagram. To say I can’t wait for some relaxation and a true chance to test out fall style favorites is an understatement.

And of course, a weekend duo of two fall menswear posts awaits you here at home. Thanks for following along, thanks for reading and here’s to the best season for men’s style!

The Tuesday Steal: Get Huckberry’s Latest Waxed Jacket for Under $200 Right Now

Flint and Tinder James Jacket review.

Rugged appeal and value are the name of the game this fall, at least as far as I’m concerned when it comes to the latest and greatest set of fall style essentials from my friends at Huckberry.

It’s a tricky combination to get precisely correct, but the long-running retailer — one of my favorite menswear companies — continues to knock it out of the ballpark (hey there, World Series), especially with its Flint and Tinder menswear lineup.

And that lineup just got a new member, one that’s fairly priced, built to last and crafted with expert care for rugged fall style. That’d be the Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket, yet another standout edition to your lineup of durable gear for the season at hand.

It’s billed as the younger brother of the iconic Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket, another style worthy of consideration as you build out stellar, versatile and seasonally minded style selections.

With a lighter weight than its trucker jacket counterpart, plus metal snap buttons for a more sporty look, the Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket uses an 100% BCI Halley Stevensons Dry Finish Waxed Cotton Canvas that’s then lined with jaspe cotton. Of course, that material comes in classic F&T colors like Field Tan and Forest.

Those touches give the Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket a more pliable, year-round feel, one that still works wonders when layered up properly for fall. Waist welt pockets offer storage for your everyday carry essentials, and a chest pocket gives it a more crisp look and feel.

The Flint and Tinder James Waxed Snap Jacket is the type of hard-wearing coat you can wear on the trail or out in the field, or else layered up handsomely with a thermal henley alongside expertly faded jeans — brewery beer in hand, of course. For unmatched versatility and standout style, turn to the latest from Flint and Tinder, my friends.

The Sunday Sale: These Flint and Tinder Work Pants are Up for Grabs at a Discount in Time For Fall

At times, you’ve got to keep your ear to the ground — or a weather eye on the horizon — to find a discount on the best men’s style essentials, the sort of pieces you can actually wear immediately in a given season.

That is to say, while some retailers shop past seasonal wares (say, selling spring gear in the fall), some retailers, like Huckberry, offer up discounts on goods that can be put to good use right away — like a pair of the best work pants for men, as shown above from Flint and Tinder.

We’re diving into the pair in question during today’s Sunday Sale with plenty of time to spare in terms of rugged fall style and wearability, and the fact that these durable men’s work pants are nearly 50 percent off is a nice added bonus indeed.

Look closely, and you’ll see that the Flint and Tinder Ripstop Mill Pants are based on an archival pair of U.S. Army pants, and outfitted with plenty of helpful bells and whistles.

Best work pants for men this fall.

Those include a cotton-linen ripstop blend for intense durability and yet a lightweight appeal — until temperatures drop drastically, these pants should prove an ample substitute at times for heavier canvas work pants.

They’re also double-lined in the knees, and Huckberry doubled down by reinforcing the pockets and key stress pants. The fit should provide ample room to move — no matter your fall pursuits — and the style points are there for rugged off-duty pursuits, like brewery beers or apple orchard strolls.

A pair of work pants in a rich earthen shade, the kind that are stylish enough to wear in your downtime and hard-wearing enough to pass muster for outdoor fall projects? Sign me up, and be sure to add this pair to your cart while they’re still up for grabs in the Huckberry Sale section, my friends.

Style Pick of the Week: Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt – A New Fall Style Staple

Flint and Tinder men's shirt review.

In my humble opinion, the best menswear staples are sometimes the ones you don’t have to think too hard about — the kind of pieces that look great just about anywhere, while serving as a versatile wardrobe backbone. And one of the best men’s shirts qualifies, especially if it hails from the new Flint and Tinder Fall Collection as designed, stocked and sold by my friends at Huckberry.

Simplicity certainly makes the difference, and what might look subtle on the surface can actually end up being a heroic, useful style move — like the Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt, for one. It’s today’s Style Pick for a reason, with plentiful wearability and some small yet much-appreciated features that elevate it from the typical buttondown shirt.

Best men's buttondown shirts for fall.

The Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt checks off all the proper boxes when it comes to an everyday buttondown: It boasts classic Oxford shirt construction, right down to the buttondown collar and chest pocket. Those details mean you can wear it untucked with mid-wash blue jeans or tucked in alongside, say, the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants and your favorite pair of leather boots at the office.

But your new favorite buttondown shirt also has some points of distinction going for it, starting with the use of hearty Donegal fabric with a textured look and feel. That fabric also gives the Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt more wearability in the colder months of fall and winter — your average linen buttondown shirt for summer, this is not.

It’s even reinforced with elbow patches for a workwear-inspired touch, and a bi-swing fit in the back provides greater ease of movement, whether at the drafting table or the coffee shop. Available in four crisp, stylish Donegal fabric colors, the handsome Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt is ready to step in at a moment’s notice this fall, whether worn on its own or layered underneath one of the best fall cardigans.

That’s how I’d wear it, and if you feel the same, drop me a line in the comments below. Happy shopping and we’ll See You Out There, my friends.

Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel

When opportunity arises to dress in fine fall fashion with some of the best new menswear, I’d urge you to jump on it ASAP. That’s certainly the case with today’s featured style selection, one that hails from Huckberry and famed in-house brand Flint and Tinder.

You see, the Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel lives up to its name and then some, joining a rotation of some of the most rugged menswear around (and that’s really saying something when it comes to Huckberry). It’s about as versatile a flannel shirt as it gets, with the ability to function handsomely as a rugged shirt jacket, as a mid-layer beneath a field jacket, or as a stylish flannel shirt you can rock all on its own.

A selection of rich plaid colors bolster its wearability all through the fall season, especially when it comes to, well, cabin weekend getaways and the like. Again, the Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel lives up to its name, particularly with its rugged build and seasonally friendly style and performance.

Corozo nut buttons and chest patch pockets are standout details that should prove especially handy when wearing this stylish flannel as a true shirt jacket, something I’d certainly recommend.

When it comes to appealing fall style and timeless durability, plus plain old-fashioned good looks, the Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel hits the mark in every way possible. Don’t trek upstate without it in your weekender bag, my friends.

The Thursday Buy: The Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt Is an Expert Early Fall Layer to Try Now

Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt.

When certain dates on the calendar start to creep ever closer, like the official first day of fall, I like to start readying my wardrobe as soon as humanly possible. Certain pieces, like my array of short-sleeve shirts for summer, are swapped out in favor of more rugged picks like one of the best chambray shirts, and that process usually includes a healthy dose of Huckberry menswear.

So it goes with the latest and greatest from Flint and Tinder, the brand-new Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt — it’s another finely crafted, mighty tempting selection from the in-house brand at Huckberry, and it just might become your newest go-to layer this season.

Already the purveyor of one of the best waxed trucker jackets on the market, plus perfectly complementary faded jeans, stylish stretch chinos and more, the good folks at Flint and Tinder always seem to hit the mark when it comes to rugged, classic and easygoing-yet-useful pieces.

Naturally, this corduroy overshirt fits the bill quite nicely, with a garment-dyed wide wale corduroy construction that should prove ultra-soft right out of the box.

Best shirt jackets for men.

Double flap chest pockets and a straight hem — more like a chore coat than a traditional shirt jacket – give the Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt an air of utility, while rich color options deliver style points aplenty. It also doesn’t hurt that the new Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt retails for just under $100, a fair price given the quality I’ve come to expect from Flint and Tinder.

The rich Harvest Gold color of the Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt might prove an especially apt seasonal choice, particularly alongside faded blue jeans. And when layered atop a henley or a thermal shirt, the pleasingly rugged, casually cool Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt is well-suited for fall bonfires, cozy cabin mornings and layering beneath a trusted field jacket. As the seasons shift, make sure the handsome Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt is in your wardrobe and ready to go, my friends.

The Friday Read: An El Tesoro Tequila Trip & The Best Waxed Jackets from Huckberry

It’s hard to believe it’s Friday, and it’s even more difficult for me to believe that I’m back in the States after a whirlwind week that touched on a bit of everything as it relates to my many freelance writing pursuits. In covering everything from menswear to watches, I attended New York Fashion Week last week and saw new watches from Breitling and new (old) vintage menswear from L.L. Bean, as you might have seen on my Instagram.

And then from there, it was time to get down to the real business seen at the top of the page: A lightning-fast, 48-hour trip South of the Border earlier this week with none other than El Tesoro Tequila. It was part of a trip to sample expressions new and old at the famed La Alteña Distillery in the highlands outside of Guadalajara, and it was well worth the short turnaround time.

It was also well worth adding another arrow to my quiver, so to speak, in terms of covering spirits for sites like Maxim.com (in addition to the fine menswear you see on this site and at my other bylines).

The absolutely gorgeous agave fields proved a stunning highlight, as did a distillery tour that included sampling tequila right from the still (a high ABV mixed with a dangerously delicious taste and old-world craft). We also sampled some stellar El Tesoro flagship expressions and enjoyed an excellent, stone oven-fired traditional Mexican lunch. Most notably for yours truly: The chance to sample a top-secret, as-yet-to-be-announced release that uses, let’s say, some distinctive aging processes.

In fact, it builds on the El Tesoro legacy as the oldest traditionally made tequila in the world, and again, it was well worth the short yet highly informative, highly delicious visit. Look for much more on my trip to Mexico in the weeks ahead!

Best waxed trucker jacket for men.

Now, let’s shift gears here from some of the best tequila on the market to some of the best fall menswear, as I find the two go hand in hand quite nicely these days. That holds especially true if you’re shopping just about any new collection from the good folks at Huckberry, very much including the new Huckberry Waxed Jacket Outpost.

Huckberry waxed jackets review.

A full lineup of versatile, rugged and nearly too-good-to-be-true waxed jackets is dropping every week as we roll into fall, and if you haven’t yet experienced the joy of the wear-with-just-about-anything Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket, there’s positively never been a better time.

In fact, I trust Huckberry menswear to help me crisscross the continent and the globe, as I wore my tough-as-nails Proof Rover Pants out into the agave fields (watch my Instagram soon for a recap post, of course). In my experience, the brand’s gear is as reliable as it gets, whether you opt for a classic Huckberry ballcap or something more sturdy and yet refined, like its Rhodes Footwear lineup of boots.

Either way –with excellent El Tesoro Tequila or hard-working Huckberry menswear — you can’t go wrong any way you slice it this fine early (early) fall weekend. Check back tomorrow for the first of two regularly scheduled fall weekend style posts, and let’s raise a glass in fine fashion, my friends. Salud!
