The Tuesday Steal: Flint and Tinder’s Stylish Hemp Buttondown Just Went On Sale – Try It Out Here

It’s something we’ve talked about plenty here on the blog: How can a guy stay stylish and cool in the heat, all the while tackling the demands (and pleasures!) of summer fun? If your wardrobe of summer menswear essentials is a toolbox, then the right fabrics and designs are crucial.

That’s where a textured, breathable and sustainable fabric like hemp comes into play, and you can trust the good folks at Huckberry to take hemp and turn it into a pleasingly breezy, stylish men’s buttondown shirt through the endlessly wearable Flint and Tinder lineup.

The Flint and Tinder Classic Hemp Buttondown answers the question, “What if you took one of the best Oxford shirts for men and then made it even lighter and more laidback?” and it does all of that while dropping down below $80 on sale — how’s that for a new addition to your rotation of the best summer shirts?

Best Oxford shirts for men.

Unlike thicker buttondown shirts from the fan favorite in-house Huckberry brand, the Flint and Tinder Classic Hemp Buttondown works in a touch of hemp (10 percent, to be exact), alongside organic cotton, which is especially fresh and summer-friendly in a handsome Navy Micro Stripe design. It uses lightly contrasting stitching at the pocket, but the Flint and Tinder Classic Hemp Buttondown does away with the buttondown collar for a more easygoing look and feel (just see how Huckberry styled it above).

The Flint and Tinder Classic Hemp Buttondown also boasts a classic fit, so you can wear it buttoned up over an undershirt (perhaps paired with a knit tie and Relwen Flyweight Flex Blazer), or else rock it more as a lightweight overshirt (again, see how Huckberry has styled this shirt above).

With its breezy build and versatile fit, this new twist on the buttondown shirt could also serve as an overshirt of sorts alongside swim trunks at the beach, or else with chino shorts and leather loafers for an evening summer stroll (Aperol Spritz sold separately).

For now, the Flint and Tinder Classic Hemp Buttondown is marked down 20 percent, and available in a variety of sizes — it looks like you just sorted out your next must-have summer shirt, my friends.

The Friday Read: A Trek to Amsterdam with Heineken & The Best Summer Travel Gear

In this freelance life (or the #FreelanceLife, as I like to call it), incredible opportunities come across my inbox and my line of sight on the daily. That includes the chance to pursue my passions, to write about the best menswear from brands like Huckberry on this very blog, to test out new watches, audio gear and everyday carry essentials, and to try the finest spirits and the best summer beers on the market — among other pursuits, of course.

And helpfully as I cover a wide array of pursuits for sites like Maxim and CoolMaterial.com, I frequently get the chance to hit the road, go far afield and uncover stories behind iconic brands, distilleries and breweries.

It’s a thrilling opportunity, and one that takes me now over to the iconic city of Amsterdam — celebrating its 750th anniversary as a city! — plus famed worldwide brewer Heineken. There’s plenty on tap, including fresh Heineken beer, a tour of the city’s canals, a visit to Heineken’s new R&D center, and a tour of the brewery itself — naturally, you can keep up with all of the fun over on my Instagram. Cheers, my friends!

Of course, for trips like these, I know the right gear goes a long way, especially when it comes to plenty of time on foot exploring a new city and an iconic brewery like Heineken. I trust favorite retailers like Huckberry for ultra-soft cotton tees and (if needed), the famed Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket for spring and summer rains (and more).

I also value comfortable stretch denim and denim shirting from Buck Mason, and lately, I’ve been wearing Ariat Chelsea boots for some rugged-meets-refined appeal.

As to those boots, they’re as easy to dress up with stretch chinos as they are to dress down with rolled blue jeans and another staple piece, Filson’s Frontier Short-sleeve Henley.

In addition to durable travel gear, I’ve also been favoring stretch pants from Public Rec, especially ones with the design of five-pocket pants and the stretch of tapered joggers.

And not to be outdone or overlooked, let’s talk the best watches for travel: Lately, my Shinola Bronze Monster has found place of pride on my wrist (and in my duffel bag). Speaking of duffel bags and the best men’s travel bags: I tend to trust my ever-helpful Halfday Travel bag, with a garment bag interior and multiple pockets for shoes, men’s basics and more.

It hits all the right notes in terms of easy transport on the go — very much including occasions when I need to bring my Relwen Flyweight Flex Blazer, as with this trip and formal nights out in Amsterdam.

My Halfday travel bag has more than served me well on past jaunts, including an April trek to Tequila Ocho, a trek into the Italian Dolomites with audio brand Sonos and even a recent family wedding in Knoxville. To say it’s an efficient travel bag to zip from point A to point B is an understatement, and it also more than reliably holds my trusty toiletries bag from Herschel Supply.

The list of the best travel gear goes on and on, but once you find picks that you love and that serve you well, it makes packing and traveling in style a relative breeze (as does TSA Precheck, of course).

What sort of travel gear do you bring on your own adventures? And what’s next on your personal summer getaway to-do list? Be sure to follow along with all the fun — and my gear picks, and my watch picks — over on my Instagram as I scour Amsterdam for the very best of the best. As ever, expect two weekend style posts covering the best summer gear and menswear from retailers like Huckberry

The Tuesday Steal: Get These Rugged Naglev Boots from Huckberry for Your Next Summer Trip Off the Grid

The next time you get the chance to gear up and get out there, to really go off trail or even off the grid, you should assuredly be lacing up a pair of the best hiking boots. In my experience, there are pairs that rise above the rest, even in a crowded menswear market, and when one of those pairs — specifically the hard-wearing Naglev Combat Waterproof Boots — goes on sale, that’s all the better.

You’re in luck today, and if you’re open to striking while the iron is hot, so to speak, then Huckberry’s latest and greatest footwear find is yours for the taking. The Naglev Combat Waterproof Boots are a fan favorite as sold by the rugged Americana and gear retailer, to say the least. They often tend to sell out, but some of the best men’s boots are still in stock and marked down (for now) in a variety of sizes. What makes these tough-as-nails boots so special? Let’s dive in, shall we?

They’re built with impressive specs and a sleek, modern combat boot design geared to go just about anywhere you can dream up. And seeing as they’re now on sale for about 35 percent off, I’d wager there’s never been a better time to upgrade your summer hiking boots rotation. The hard-working Naglev Combat Waterproof Boots feature plenty of bells and whistles, starting with a Kevlar outer shell that’s complemented by a wool inner boot for a snug fit and further protection from the elements.

Integrated speed lacing makes for a secure fit and an easy wearing experience when it comes to the Naglev Combat Waterproof Boots, while a grooved natural rubber outsole delivers maximum traction on dicey terrain. The combat boot length of the aptly named Naglev Combat Waterproof Boots provides further coverage and ankle support, and the vegetable-tanned leather and coconut fiber inner footbed molds to your foot over time for a supremely comfortable wearing experience.

They feature a sleek, streamlined look, the kind you can even wear with canvas pants when you’re not on the trail. The Naglev Combat Waterproof Boots are rounded out with an elastic ankle band for a fit that just won’t quit — support is surely the name of the game with what just might be your new favorite boots.

The next time adventure calls, lace up the hard-working, built-to-last Naglev Combat Waterproof Boots, and rest assured they’ll deliver the performance you need — no matter how far afield you venture.

Best travel pants for men.

As we close out another summer weekend, perhaps the best travel gear is top of mind for you — both the gear you’re packing and the gear you’re wearing to get from point A to point B (and beyond). And for nearly any adventure summer sends your way, I’ve personally found that the Proof Rover EDC Pants are more than suited for the job, and they’re a prime purchase as we round the corner into summer.

In fact, they just might become your new favorite travel pants, and that’s saying something. It should also come as no surprise that they were dreamed up and designed by Huckberry: The Proof lineup of menswear is geared for days and days of adventure, especially its merino T-shirts.

The even better news? These rugged, versatile adventure pants for men are on sale right now, and more than suited for whatever’s next on your calendar: Day hikes, camping trips, bonfires and city exploration on foot are made all the more agreeable by the use of durable yet lightweight cotton-blend fabric.

That fabric is reinforced with REPREVE fabric (spun from recycled water bottles), but the Proof Rover EDC Pants really shine through when considering every part of your daily carry: Eight pockets — yes, eight pockets — make the Proof Rover EDC Pants extremely useful on and off the trail.

Those pockets include side slant pockets, an inner zipper pocket at the hip, thigh pockets (like streamlined cargo pants) and a variety of back and thigh pockets — all geared to hold pens, pocket knives, multi-tools, keys, your wallet and much more.

Plus, these rugged travel pants are marked down nearly 50 percent in the Huckberry Sale section — talk about a standout deal to get you geared up for summer the right way, ehh?

With a tailored slim fit, the Proof Rover EDC Pants are also pigment-dyed and built to break in like raw denim, another thoughtful design detail dreamed up by Huckberry. WIth plentiful pockets, rugged yet versatile fabric, a streamlined and the ability to go from the trail to the town and back, these on-sale pants from Huckberry might just prove a new summer essential.

The Friday Read: A Trek to Rabbit Hole Distillery & Huckberry Summer Menswear Classics

We’re launching into another action-packed Brooklyn summer weekend and getting back down to business after plenty of time on the road — join me, won’t you?

As you might have seen if you follow me on Instagram, and if you keep up with my many freelance writing pursuits, I spent the better part of last week in Louisville, Kentucky, the heart of American bourbon country and a place I’ve trekked to quite frequently this last handful of years as I cover spirits, gear and more for outlets like Maxim.

Of course, it goes without saying that this Brooklyn style blog keeps me plenty busy as well, as I scour the market for the best menswear essentials from tried-and-true brands — several of which I get to review and write about as I crisscross the country! More on that in the weeks ahead as my summer travel schedule ramps up.

The occasion for the trip was a rather special one – as tends to be the case when I head to the heartland of stellar bourbon, and one I’d had on my bucket list for some time now. I had the chance to visit Rabbit Hole Distillery alongside a group of fellow spirits pros and writers, not to mention distillery founder and bourbon innovator Kaveh Zamanian.

It’s among the finest whiskey I’ve had in some time (particularly the Boxergrain expression), although I’d also count Maker’s Mark Star Hill Farms — as seen below! — as another winning selection in my quest to taste the best bourbon on the planet.

He founded Rabbit Hole a little more than a decade ago after a career as a therapist, a fascinating pivot that lends itself nicely to experimentation and a sense of attention to detail. After humble beginnings building the distillery from the ground up, Rabbit Hole now makes some of the most innovative American whiskey out there, with an equally innovative distillery design to match (it’s situated in NuLu, a buzzed-about and up-and-coming neighborhood with plenty of character).

The distillery, now owned by Pernod Ricard, uses extremely distinct malting processes and mash bills to produce several whiskies exclusive to its distillery, situated not far from the excellent Hotel Genevieve — for now, let me say that if you find yourself in Bourbon Country, U.S.A, put Rabbit Hole Distillery at the top of your list to visit.

As luck would have it, these spirits-focused trips — and even the many events I attended this past week as part of annual spirits extravaganza Bar Convent Brooklyn — are the perfect opportunity to test out the best summer menswear from companies like Huckberry.

Luckily, durable denim, rugged leather boots and breezy summer shirting prove mighty helpful when going from a distillery tour to a dinner at one of The ‘Ville’s finest establishments (allow me to recommend Bob’s Steak and Chop House at the Omni Hotel, plus Southern-meets-Japanese fusion establishment Enso).

What sort of gear do you bring to hit the road? Hopefully, this style blog proves helpful in those many pursuits, but as ever, you can expect two weekend style posts in the days ahead. Beating the heat in style, whether in Kentucky or back in Brooklyn, is the name of the game, my friends. In fact, might I suggest this stylish Billy Reid linen shirt or else a travel-ready Huckberry blazer to cement your next summer #OOTD?

You can expect more where that came from in the days and weeks ahead — as ever, stay stylish, thanks for reading, thanks for following along and imbibing with me! Here’s to a Brooklyn summer weekend — cheers, my friends.

See Now, Buy Now: These Comfortable Linen Drawstring Shorts from Flint and Tinder are Ideal for Summer

Best summer shorts for men.

When the high heat of summer hits, which it certainly will, there are times you need to go as casual and (literally) cool as possible, all the while still looking put together and (dare I say) fashionable. The very key to your off-duty wardrobe lies in a pair of the best shorts for men, but we’re swerving from the path of the best chino shorts ever so slightly.

While chino shorts with a hint of stretch work well for everything from BBQs to coastal beach shindigs, you very well might want to lighten things up even further — and that, my friends, is where Huckberry and our fellow style mavens at Flint and Tinder come in very handy.

How is it possible to lighten things up even more from chino shorts? The answer lies in the Flint and Tinder Cotton Linen Drawstring Shorts, an effortlessly cool pair of shorts with the comfort of lounge shorts and the good looks of your go-to pair of everyday shorts.

You see, the Flint and Tinder Cotton Linen Drawstring Shorts make it possible to stay even cooler than a regular pair of shorts, and that’s invaluable when the weather merely calls for, say, a lightweight T-shirt and boat shoes. They feature the welt and back pockets of crisp chino shorts in terms of design, but use an expertly garment-dyed 70 percent cotton, 30 percent linen blend to keep you cool from day to night.

The tailored fit of your new favorite casual shorts should hit nicely above the knee in polished fashion (and know that besides the Flint and Tinder Cotton Linen Drawstring Shorts, Huckberry also sells shorts with 8 and 9-inch inseams for the taller fellas among us).

Available in versatile colors like Navy and Olive — which you pair with practically everything in your wardrobe, the handsome and laidback-yet-stylish Flint and Tinder Cotton Linen Drawstring Shorts also come in a pleasing Indigo Stripe color to add a touch of flair to a charcoal polo and brown leather loafers (try it on for size and let me know how it all works out).

And since this is Huckberry we’re talking about here, the Flint and Tinder Cotton Linen Drawstring Shorts are priced more than fairly at below $90.

How’s that for a proper pair of summer shorts? When you need casual comfort and go-anywhere style for leisurely summer shindigs aplenty, opt for the easygoing-yet-fashionable Flint and Tinder Cotton Linen Drawstring Shorts, my friends.

Style Pick of the Week: Flint and Tinder Sawtooth Short-Sleeve Western Shirt – A Perfectly Rugged Summer Menswear Move

Flint and Tinder review.

It’s like we talk about often here on this Brooklyn style blog: A guy’s wardrobe of summer style essentials deserves options, variety and of course, great looks aplenty. That’s why it always pays off to be prepared, even when the occasion leans more casual.

And while breezy polos and linen shirting are always a wise choice, sometimes, a dash of flair is appreciated — a nod to current trends like the best Western shirts for men comes in handy, as does the entire array of Huckberry gear and menswear for summer.

And that leads us quite handily to the Flint and Tinder Sawtooth Western Shirt, a reliable and modern spin on an old favorite that checks plenty of boxes as far as the best summer shirts for men are concerned. The casually rugged effortlessly cool Flint and Tinder Sawtooth Western Shirt takes its cues from the style of West Texas (a key point of inspiration for the Austin-based brand’s Spring and Summer 2025 Collection), and your own off-duty wardrobe is all the better for it.

The Flint and Tinder Sawtooth Western Shirt uses soft yet strong 100 percent cotton in its build, and handily comes in an array of vibrant, West Texas-inspired colors and patterns. The effortlessly rugged Western detailing comes in mighty handy with this handsome short-sleeve shirt, including notched chest pockets and bone button flaps.

Of course, it’s also finished with a Western-style back yoke, all the better to get the details right as you throw on the Flint and Tinder Sawtooth Western Shirt with tan chino shorts, olive linen trousers or, of course, a pair of expertly faded light wash jeans for men.

The Flint and Tinder Sawtooth Western Shirt also comes in an eye-catching embroidered chambray design, which should readily team up with faded black denim or tobacco-hued chinos.

It’s a shirt with all the right details, one that does the talking in a quietly stylish, casually rugged way — the perfect sort of stylish men’s summer shirt to wear to a BBQ or a day of brewery hopping, or even a night around the bonfire. When you want detailing, design and timeless appeal you can trust, opt for the effortless cool of your new favorite summer short-sleeve shirt.

The Tuesday Steal: This Lightweight Huckberry Blazer is On Sale, and It’s Perfect for the Summer Months

Best lightweight blazers for men.

It’s not the first time we’ll talk about it on this Brooklyn style blog, nor is it the last, but looking your best in the heat can be a fine line to walk. The right gear for the job takes a lighter course of action than the same men’s style essentials you’d rock in the fall and winter, and that holds especially true as far as the tailoring you wear is concerned.

Take one of the best lightweight blazers for men — a true must-have as the thermostat climbs and your social calendar fills up. And as a matter of fact, the Wills Garment-Dyed Blazer fits the bill mighty nicely in terms of fabrication, design and style points.

As we always say here at this Brooklyn men’s style blog, well, if you can find a deal on one as the season itself heats up — a deal on something like the Wills Garment-Dyed Blazer shown above — then that’s all the better. It’s part of a selection of the best men’s blazers sold by Huckberry, and to be quite frank, it doesn’t get much better than that.

According to famed retailer Huckberry, the blazer is “your secret to easywearing warm-weather style,” with the ability to put in work at the boardroom, at a summer wedding, at a rooftop happy hour and beyond. Right now, the Wills Garment-Dyed Blazer is marked down about 20 percent, and forgoes the typical padding and structure of a blazer in favor of a cotton-elastane blend and a soft-shouldered, natural finish.

That makes the Wills Garment-Dyed Blazer an easy choice for casual yet effortlessly cool style — wear your new favorite blazer over a lightweight T-shirt, an Oxford shirt or even a more traditional stretch dress shirt for polished looks and cool comfort.

Available in Navy, the Wills Garment-Dyed Blazer also boasts casual, classic patch pockets and a two-button build, plus a center rear vent — yet another classic sportcoat touch from the style masters at Huckberry.

And given the fact that it’s available in sizes ranging from S-XXL at the moment, I’d say there’s no reason not to scoop up the Wills Garment-Dyed Blazer at a standout deal in time for warm-weather style.

Pair it with Huckberry stretch chinos, pair it with light wash jeans, pair the Wills Garment-Dyed Blazer with just about anything you please (other than shorts — leave that to Angus Young). Cheers to the season at hand and the best lightweight men’s blazers, folks.

Style Pick of the Week: Oris Divers Date Watch – A Seriously Rugged Watch for Outdoor Adventures This Summer

In my book, the best gear for men from head to toe exudes rugged toughness, style and versatility, from your choice of chambray shirt to your selection of dark blue denim, brown leather boots and of course, the watch you wear on your wrist.

In the smartphone age, wearing one of the best men’s watches is a more deliberate style move, an investment in something that can elevate any look — and provide critical functionality in places your smartphone can’t. The Oris Divers Date Watch shown above, as sold by my good friends at Huckberry, certainly delivers in that regard.

And while I love, say, Shinola men’s watches — as you might have seen in Shinola reviews on this very blog — the very best everyday carry gear for men also requires a deeper look, another point of view:

There are options aplenty out there when it comes to the best dive watches for men, like the handsome Oris Divers Date Watch shown above. Yessir, it’s a certified winner in matters of both looks and performance, with the specs to prove it.

For the unfamiliar, Oris is a somewhat overlooked heritage watch brand deeply rooted in the art and science of the best dive watches for men. The Oris Divers Date Watch speaks to that legacy quite handily, and stylishly, at that. In fact, Oris released its first-ever dive watch back in 1965, and this durable and subtly fashionable diver nods to those roots in the best way possible.

Best dive watches for men.

You see, the Oris Divers Date Watch gets distinctly 1960s touches like compressed bezel numerals and a monochromatic color scheme not unlike much more expensive dive watches (looking at you, Rolex).

Sized in relatively throwback fashion at 39mm in terms of dial size, a Swiss-made 733-1 automatic mechanical movement powers this watch with a 41-hour power reserve (designed to keep the watch ticking and on track even if you don’t wear it for a period of time).

Its rugged yet slightly dressy stainless steel build is accented by 200 meters of real-world water resistance, meaning you can easily wear this watch into the water and its depths without missing a beat. Of course, the timepiece also comes with a sporty black rubber strap for even more variety and versatility.

Yet, the classic profile of the tough-as-nails Oris Divers Date Watch also lends itself to styling in luxurious fashion with a knit polo, stretch chinos and brown leather loafers. Take my word from it: If Huckberry approves of its performance, then a timepiece like the sturdy Oris Divers Date Watch belongs in your wrist game rotation ASAP this summer.

Style Pick of the Week: Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts – Your New Favorite Summer Shorts

Best summer shorts for men.

The intersection of comfort and style can be a tricky balance to strike, but I’ve found that, in my experience, the good folks at Huckberry do quite a bit that goes a long way, especially when it comes to the famed Americana retailer’s Flint and Tinder lineup of menswear.

And comfort plus style is certainly the name of the game when it comes to the best men’s shorts to wear all spring and summer long — take the Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts as shown above, in fact. The Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts carry on the legacy of the 365 lineup of versatile-as-can-be, comfortable-as-can-be men’s style essentials from the in-house brand — its 365 fabric is ultra-soft, smooth and made to move, using 98 percent cotton and just a hint of stretch.

Throw in the fact that the Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts feature a true drawstring waist for stretch and movement, and you just might have found the most comfortable shorts on the market this spring summer.

Like other pairs of the best shorts men, they feature an agreeable 7-inch inseam that should work nicely on most builds, and classic side-slant pockets give the Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts a touch of dressy appeal — dressy enough to wear with leather loafers and your favorite polo or patterned buttondown shirt, that is.

In my experience, the build of the Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts should prove effortlessly cool and comfortable, from BBQs to weekend brunch, rooftop happy hours and coastal getaways aplenty — that’s how shorts should be worn after all, isn’t it? The Flint and Tinder 365 Drawstring Shorts also come in a selection of neutral, easy-to-style colors, not unlike the endlessly wearable Flint and Tinder 365 Pants.

Although subtle and laidback on the surface, the versatility of these handsome chino shorts is nearly unmatched — try a pair on for size (at least one pair, that is!), and let me know in the comments if you’ve found your new favorite shorts this season. Cheers to style, comfort and the season ahead, my friends.
