Here’s the thing, folks: Thanksgiving 2017 will soon be upon us, if you can believe it. And whether you’re hopping in the car for a crosstown drive or hopping a flight to see the family dressed in fall travel style, there’s a basic-yet-stylish #OOTD template you can take with you wherever you go. And mark my words, there ways to look laidback yet on-point, as we always talk about here at The Style Guide. Let’s say Thanksgiving is a more casual affair for your family than Christmas — that’s where today’s #OOTD is going to come in handy. For a long afternoon or evening of eating, drinking, parade-watching and pigskin-tossing, you want men’s style essentials that look great and help you move and … well, nap after all that food (and beer, let’s be honest). In short, that’s why we’ve got reliable pieces like a stylish sweatshirt, a classic Oxford shirt and stylish chinos on tap. At the very least, the slim chinos and classic men’s Oxford are going to serve as reliable building blocks for your holiday weekend — you can add or subtract a classic fall blazer, for example, as you see fit. Either way, fall style essentials should certainly be in play. So, that’s where we are this Thanksgiving — reliable, casual and stylish. What are your Thanksgiving plans? Let me know on Twitter. Enjoy!

The Sweatshirt: Flint and Tinder 10-Year Pullover in Forest, $89 — This Flint and Tinder pullover is assuredly very casual, even for a stylish hooded sweatshirt. It’s perfect for lounging around and playing backyard football, but you can swap in a tan herringbone blazer or a stylish V-neck sweater for a more polished look.
The Oxford: Taylor Stitch The Jack Shirt in Charcoal Everyday Oxford, $98 — A reliable move on any holiday, this classic Oxford shirt from Taylor Stitch is foolproof — just don’t spill any cranberry sauce on it.
The Socks: American Trench Fair Isle Socks in Merino and Cashmere, $33 — Hey, don’t skimp on stylish socks — particularly if you’re going to be padding around someone else’s house. These American Trench socks are a smooth (if pricey) move.
The Watch: Jack Mason Aviator Watch in Light Brown/Black, $205 — For essential Thanksgiving style, you’re going to want a casual leather watch that’s classically designed and durably constructed. Jack Mason has your back.
The Easy Travel Bag: Filson Tablet Briefcase in Navy, $275— Alright, this Filson Tablet Briefcase is moreso for those of us who are hitting the road. Use it as a small carry-on, or use it to haul handy everyday carry essentials — and maybe an extra bottle of craft beer — to and from dinner.
I can smell that turkey cooking now — can’t you? Starting any holiday oufit with the right pieces is going to put you in a great spot, and that’ll allow you to layer up in casual style with that Flint and Tinder pullover. Elsewhere, the Jack Shirt from Taylor Stitch is an everyday go-to, and perfectly acceptable to wear on Thanksgiving. The same goes for the Taylor Stitch Democratic Chinos, featuring a tailored fit that’s not too tight — so, you know, you can grab that second (or third) helping. Certainly, you could finish this outfit off in casual fashion with classic men’s sneakers … or you can go a little bit sharper with rugged leather chukka boots. Your accessories should, as always, stay sharp. That goes for the Jack Mason Aviator Watch, the pleasingly rugged Sturdy Brothers Everyday Belt and the handy, durable Filson Tablet Briefcase — always be prepared with what you need to keep you, your significant other or your children entertained on a road trip, ehh? Oh, and socks … put on stylish socks without holes in ’em, like the American Trench Fair Isle Socks as seen above. No matter where you go, I’m wishing you a happy, fun and ultimately, thankful Thanksgiving. Can’t get enough of The Style Guide? See Now, Buy Now: Corridor NYC’s Indigo Overshirt is Your New Go-To Layer

The perfect fall layer? Very nearly. Easy to wear with a classic henley, a chambray shirt, some slim denim … you’re all good to go.
Follow me, Style Guide readers — today, we’re taking you through Corridor NYC and specifically, the brand’s stellar, stylish and rugged Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt. Previously seen in one of our fall style editions of The List — featuring rugged style essentials galore, the Corridor NYC Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt is a one-of-a-kind layering piece that’s perfect for what lies ahead this season (and beyond, of course). Corridor NYC has deep roots in the city, with a focus on production in Manhattan itself — that’s pretty cool, and it helps make the Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt a unique offering in terms of construction. For instance: The clay-colored corozo buttons are even hand-dyed in the Big Apple. Make no mistake though, this isn’t a beefy jacket that you can’t move around in; in fact, it’s perhaps the opposite. The Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt is also made from — you guessed it — indigo-dyed canvas that’s enzyme-washed for softness. If you wanted a jacket to layer over a rugged henley, the Corridor NYC Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt should be your next purchase. And if you want a jacket that can do a little bit more than your average overshirt? The Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt is the way to go.
The reliable fit — easy to layer over a classic chambray shirt, and just as easy to slide on under your favorite topcoat — also makes the Corridor NYC Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt a winning pick-up. You simply don’t see too many classically styled, American-made jackets like this one anymore. It complements the rest of the Corridor NYC outerwear offering, too — need a piece to layer under one of the brand’s Waxed M-65 Jackets? The Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt is the way to go, my friends. It’ll work just as well now as it well in the chilly early days of spring, especially when you throw it on over one of the best men’s T-shirts as you sprint out grab a coffee (OK, maybe “sprint” is the wrong word there). At any rate, the Corridor NYC Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt can do a heck of a lot when it comes to reliable style. Wear it with your favorite dark blue denim and a pair of classic leather boots for fall and winter style that’s essential & remarkably easy to wear … well, anywhere. Let me know in the comments if the Corridor NYC Duck-Dyed Indigo Overshirt is going to be making its way into your shopping cart!

The Friday Read: Kinross Cashmere, Fall Layering and Daylight Savings Time
Hello again and welcome to the weekend, Style Guide readers. It’s time to wrap up the week in style with The Friday Read, your look at all the essential #menswear news to know … plus, a few other fun pieces. Are you keeping up with our near-continual coverage of men’s fall style essentials? It’s certainly the right time to be on the lookout for wardrobe upgrades, from the best leather boots for fall to the right way to wear a vest this season. Yes indeed, fall in New York City calls to mind rugged menswear, but it also reminds me of my home in Michigan — seeing the colors change here in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park calls to mind beautiful strolls through the campus of my alma mater, Michigan State University. It’s not quite the same here out East, but it’s close enough. What’s on your fall weekend agenda? After a busy few weeks of traveling, I’m excited to have a second straight weekend in Brooklyn — I’m planning on exploring the neighborhood of Red Hook, what with cool spots like vintage menswear haven Wooden Sleepers. In the meantime, you can expect a new Style Pick of the Week tomorrow — have a great weekend, folks!
- Let’s talk stylish menswear — and a heck of a stylish giveaway — from a few brands we know and love, including perennial Style Guide favorites Grayers and SeaVees! The two brands are running a whopping $2,500 menswear giveaway through Sunday, November 12th. What’s on tap? Oh, man. The SeaVees x Grayers Tailgate Givewaway features full outfits from Grayers, two pairs of SeaVees sneakers and of course, other tailgating gear (like a Yeti cooler). What have you got to lose? Enter the giveaway here — and check out my own personal tips on how to dress for your next tailgate, while we’re talking sports and style.
- We’ve talked recently about the best men’s cardigans to buy now — ’tis the season, indeed. Well, get your credit card handy and add to your shopping list as soon as you can, because Kinross Cashmere is making one stylish handsome, refined cardigan to add to your list. That is to say, the brand’s entire line of cashmere and cashmere-blend sweaters is perfect … but I love the Contrast Double Rib Button Front Cardigan the best. Shop away!
- As always, Esquire.com is here with more interesting writing for your reading pleasure. The site is digging into why Daylight Savings Time is … actually not all that beneficial. Huh. An interesting read, certainly,
- Want to switch up your black tie look? Considerably, that is to say? Here, it’s covered — the Jack Sharp by Snoop Dogg X Collection by Michael Strahan Jacket is fun, holiday-friendly, affordable and … well, vouched for by Snopp Dogg. Super smooth, nicely tailored and just a bit tongue-in-cheek. A fun little holiday party move, ehh? (If you’re searching for even more guidance on the #menswear to wear to a holiday party, head here).
With that … let’s wrap this thing up! Have a great weekend, and be sure to follow along on my Instagram for complete coverage of all my Brooklyn weekend adventures (nudge, nudge).

See Now, Buy Now: Gear Up and Hit the Road with Taylor Stitch’s Moto Pant in Dyneema Denim
Don’t let that image at the top of the page scare you — the Taylor Stitch Moto Pant in Dyneema Denim is a pair of moto jeans that’s easily wearable even if you don’t own a motorcycle or ride off-road. In fact, the Moto Pants in Dyneema Denim are a sufficiently cool, rugged way to upgrade your dark blue denim with style and functionality. As any loyal Style Guide reader knows, Taylor Stitch consistently kills it on all fronts in the menswear game, and the brand’s Moto Collection only ups the ante even further. For you and me both, that means you’ve got more gear to add to your list of men’s style essentials. Packed with hits like the beautiful Taylor Stitch Moto Jacket (as seen in a previous See Now, Buy Now entry), the Moto Collection is also home to the Moto Pants in Dyneema Denim — and they’re a sufficient supporting accessory, to say the least. It starts with the road-ready Dyneema fabric, known as the “world’s strongest fabric” and comprising more than 50 percent of the Taylor Stitch Moto Pants.
In short, that makes for a pair of trousers that blend the look of a pair of classic dark blue jeans with the durability of the outdoors-minded Taylor Stitch Camp Pants, for instance. In short, that means you can take the Taylor Stitch Moto Pants just about anywhere you’d like this winter, from a grueling hike to a less-taxing stroll through the snow to your favorite craft beer bar (that’s probably how I’d wear mine, at least). Front slash pockets leave you with plenty of room to haul your everyday carry essentials for hours at a time, too. On the styling front, I’d freely layer up with a rugged henley and a stylish field jacket for chilly fall and winter days. And you can even throw on a stylish vest, plus suede lace-up boots and perhaps a rugged crewneck sweater, for easygoing-yet-durable style. Of course, rugged leather boots are an essential with a pair of pants as outdoor-minded as the Taylor Stitch Moto Pants, too. And with a price tag of nearly $250, I’d urge you to find as many ways as possible to break out the Moto Pants in Dyneema Denim — but you’d better pre-fund them now. Right? Glad we’re on the same page.
Are you pre-fundig the Taylor Stitch Moto Pants in Dyneema Denim? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter!

Online Shopping Picks: Get Throwback Style with the Best Men’s Denim Shirts
If there’s one thing that’s clear to those of you who read The Style Guide, it’s got to be the fact that your editorial team of one absolutely loves rugged men’s style essentials. Case in point: Today’s list of the best men’s denim shirts. Originating from real-life, rugged Western workwear and done first by companies like Levi’s, today’s denim shirts are a prime fall and winter style essential for guys who gravitate toward classic yet slightly edgy off-duty style. Made from cotton denim fabric, you can wear ’em across all four seasons — believe me. Some classic men’s denim shirts go full-on Western, with details like authentic stitching and front-button chest pockets. Other shirts, like the Taylor Stitch Jack Shirt in Sea Washed Denim — sitting near the top of this list — feature a modern fit and fewer authentic style details, yet plenty of versatility either way. Rest assured, your new favorite denim shirt is wearable with everything from black denim to burgundy corduroys this fall and winter. Just add stylish leather boots, and you’re set. Read on to see the full list below, and leave your feedback in the comments section or on Twitter.
#1. Levi’s Barstow Western Shirt — $69.50
Perhaps you think of something like the Levi’s Barstow Western Shirt when you think of the classic denim shirt. After all, Levi’s brought the style into vogue for tough, hard-working fellas long before the slim denim shirt was a style staple the world over. With multiple washes available — the Red Cast Rinse wash just might be the most classic — the Barstow Western Shirt features Western flap pockets & stitching. Wear it with black denim for rock concert-ready style, or team the Barstow Western Shirt with your favorite fall blazer for a bit of edgy style on the daily grind.#2. Taylor Stitch The Jack Shirt in Sea Washed Denim — $98
Want a denim shirt that’s a little bit more modern than a Western-style denim shirt? Well … you want the Jack Shirt in Sea Washed Denim from Taylor Stitch, my friend. Featuring the tailored fit and quality construction for which the brand is known, the Jack Shirt is easily wearable with other staples already hanging in your closet, from grey selvedge denim to olive chinos and a rugged crewneck sweatshirt. Made from long staple cotton that gets better with every wear, the Taylor Stitch Jack Shirt is the denim shirt you didn’t know you needed.#4. Taylor Stitch The Utility Shirt in Heavy Slub Denim — $148
When it comes to rugged men’s shirting, Taylor Stitch — and by extension, the Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt — simply fill that void in terms of the perfect denim shirt. Made with, well, utility and functionality in mind, this 11oz. cotton-silk shirt is at once heavyweight and yet easy to wear. Simply layer the Utility Shirt over a Taylor Stitch striped henley, then add olive chinos and classic suede chukkas for unbeatable weekend style. Ultimately, the Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt is made for work — real, live work — or play (an evening at your favorite brewpub).#5. Roark Revival Murman Woven Shirt in Heather Indigo — $84.98

Is this a shirt? Is it a jacket? It’s both! And that’s good enough for this list of the best men’s denim shirts.
Alright, folks — which of the above stylish men’s denim shirts will you be buying? As you can see, there’s versatility aplenty when it comes to the right denim shirt for you, from a classic Western denim shirt from Levi’s to a durable shirt jacket from Roark Revival. And as for me? I love a casual-yet-classic denim shirt like the Jack Shirt in Sea Washed Denim from Taylor Stitch. In fact, the right denim shirt can work with everything from slim black denim — yes, denim-on-denim flies — or grey chinos … or burgundy corduroys. You get the idea, right? With durable fabric and easygoing style potential, the BANKS West Long Sleeve Shirt is a similarly versatile denim shirt for fall and winter. And before we forget, the Taylor Stitch Utility Shirt is another winner from the brand, crafted from a unique and long-lasting denim blend. If you ask me, that quality, top-notch design approach is what you need in your new favorite denim shirt. Feel free to chime in on the below picks or ask questions in the comments. With that being said, let’s grab a denim shirt, layer up and get out there for fall and winter!

Online Shopping Picks: Layer Up for Fall and Winter with the Best Men’s Cardigans
OK, so let’s talk fall and winter layering essentials — like the best men’s cardigans, ya dig? It’s a style essential that we return to time and again here on The Style Guide, with roots in vintage style now turned modern and, well, cool. The right cardigan features a fit that’s slim but not too tight, making it easy to layer with everything from a slim striped henley to an American-made Oxford shirt. Beloved by everyone from Steve McQueen to Daniel Craig, a classic cardigan is something every man needs in his wardrobe. And if you’re wary of buying one for fear that it’s too much of an “old man” style staple, put those thoughts aside — plenty of your favorite brand’s are included on this list of the best men’s cardigans, I guarantee it. From a sport-inspired cardigan like the Life/After/Denim Varsity Cardigan — as seen in this site’s See Now, Buy Now series — to a more easygoing number like the pleasingly rugged, versatile Grayers Avalon Shawl Cardigan — you’re absolutely guaranteed to find a piece that you like. Rock it on its own with a lightweight scarf or throw on a flannel-lined waxed trucker — that’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. Happy shopping, and be sure to check out my Instagram for plenty of real-life style moves.
#1. Life/After/Denim Varsity Cardigan in Heather Grey — $138
Told you this stylish retro cardigan from Life/After/Denim would be on the list, didn’t I? It’s understated in its design, with neat, sporty stripe detailing, a modern fit and a versatile color. Pair the Varsity Cardigan with your favorite pair of dark blue denim and classic leather chukka boots for style that can really go anywhere or throw it on over one of the best men’s T-shirts when you feel like stepping out in accessible-yet-casual style. The Life/After/Denim Varsity Cardigan is a bit pricey, but worth it.
#2. Levi’s Cardigan in Tall Grass — $395
Whoa now, nearly $400 for a cardigan? Well, folks … let me tell you why. Levi’s does far more than make classic men’s denim like the Levi’s 505C Jeans — they also make rugged, great-looking men’s apparel and accessories. The Levi’s Cardigan is among those, made with 100 percent shetland wool in a rich color that wouldn’t look out of place with navy corduroys and classic suede chukka boots. Again, the Levi’s Cardigan is an unexpected investment piece.
#3. Grayers Avalon Shawl Cardigan — $135
Grayers simply doesn’t mess around when it comes to cool, casual menswear with a bit of a classic tilt. The Avalon Shawl Cardigan is one such piece that’s as easy to wear as your favorite hooded sweater — over a garment-washed pocket tee and faded blue denim, for instance. And if you feel like going slightly sharper with this classic cardigan? Slim tan chinos, stylish men’s dress shoes and a classic Oxford shirt ought to do the trick. Get you a cardigan that can do both — like the Grayers Avalon Shawl Cardigan.
#5. Original Penguin Shawl Collar Donegal Cardigan — $125

A no-frills, no-fuss cardigan that’s perfect for everyday wear.
Original Penguin gets it right when it comes to a classic, crisp cardigan that certainly leans a bit dressier — yet no less versatile — compared to the rest of the picks on this list. The crisp Charcoal Heather color would look right at home with burgundy corduroys and classic suede boots, and it’s also going to pair up nicely with a striped henley and your favorite pair of broken-in blue denim. Can you dig it? I sure can.

We’re keeping it a bit shorter than usual today when it comes to this list of men’s style essentials — which of the above cardigans was your favorite. My money’s on the Life/After/Denim Varsity Cardigan for its combination of casual weekend wearability, sport-inspired style and serious warmth. And the Original Penguin Shawl Collar Cardigan is similarly warm and stylish — layer it with a classic henley and find out for yourself. Let’s not forget the seriously premium Levi’s Cardigan in a cool deep green color; it’s the perfect pairing when teamed with slim faded denim, rugged tan leather boots and a crisp white Oxford shirt. Before I forget, the Life/After/Denim Collegiate Cardigan shouldn’t be slept on, either — whether you wear it with slim sweatpants and classic fall sneakers or with brown herringbone trousers and your new favorite chambray shirt, the Collegiate Cardigan could become a weekly go-to. And if it’s casual, versatile and laidback style you want, pick up the Grayers Avalon Shawl Cardigan — again, it’s every bit as comfortable as your favorite hoodie. Alright, all set? Let’s get shopping!

Style Pick of the Week: Relwen Quilted Patrol Jacket
Every week here at The Style Guide — heck, every day — it can be pretty tough to filter through so many of the best men’s style essentials to land on one, just one … Style Pick of the Week. And it was a tall order this week especially, but with the Relwen Quilted Patrol Jacket, I think we’ve hit the mark as far as your new favorite jacket is concerned.
If you’re still searching for a durable, transitional and stylish fall jacket, the handsome Relwen Quilted Patrol Jacket is the one to buy — at least, that’s what I think. Relwen specializes in sleek, functional and military-inspired menswear with a modern edge, but don’t let that scare you. If you’re just dipping your toes into more edgy and rugged outerwear, rest assured that the Relwen brand is very, very wearable for your daily commute and late fall adventures. In fact, the Quilted Patrol Jacket seen at the top of the page is positively packed with functionality and hard-wearing style. The quilted exterior is water-resistant, while the box-quilted nylon lining provides excellent warmth and a neat contrast in terms of color. It’s exclusive to Huckberry, so you know that A) The quality is excellent and B) It’ll likely fly off the site’s (digital) shelves quite fast. The Relwen Quilted Patrol Jacket also features a cool, easily wearable charcoal, also exclusive to Huckberry. So, we know this jacket is limited-edition and packed with excellent features. Let’s make it work with your wardrobe, shall we?
The truly excellent thing about a rugged fall jacket with classic military roots is that it can be paired up with plenty of other essentials in your closet already. Take a slim striped henley and your favorite pair of black jeans, then add some stylish leather boots — bingo, perfect weekend ensemble at the ready. Perhaps you can see this jacket working for you on a rainy commute or a road trip, which is all well and good: The Relwen Quilted Patrol Jacket features that durable cotton-nylon exterior and a no-frills charcoal color.
That straightforward design means it’ll keep you dry in inclement weather while pairing up with everything from a slim chambray shirt and grey chinos to a classic Oxford shirt and navy corduroys. Either of those combos would work well for grinding out your next 9-to-5 session, to say the least. And if it’s weekend adventure you seek, the Relwen Quilted Patrol Jacket checks all the boxes, too. Style it over a rugged overshirt and add stylish hiking boots to go off-road — or stroll down the street to your favorite brewery. I make no bones about it — wherever you want to go, the Relwen Quilted Patrol Jacket can take you there this fall and winter. And that’s more than good enough to call the Quilted Patrol Jacket today’s Style Pick of the Week.
With that, we’re off for the weekend!

The Friday Read: Chicago, The Best Men’s Field Jackets and ALTA Supplements
From fall weather finally starting to arrive in NYC to recent entries here on the blog — like this week’s rundown of the best men’s shirts for fall — the best season for all of us #menswear fans is truly starting to take shape. How’s your week ending, and how’s your weekend looking? If you’re going traipsing through an apple orchard, hiking in your local park or perhaps just knocking back a few fall beers at your favorite brewery, I’d suggest you dress in rugged fall style, perhaps with a classic flannel shirt? Ehh? I’m looking forward to getting out and about this weekend, too — in fact, I’m heading to Chicago once again as we speak! I’ll be catching up with old college friends and enjoying the city’s craft beer & menswear scenes, per usual. I had an excellent time visiting Chicago this past summer — and taking in Lollapalooza Chicago — and I know more great times are in store soon. Have suggestions on Chicago activities for me? Hit me up on Twitter, or check out The Style Guide Facebook page! For now, let’s get the weekend going, shall we?

- I guarantee you that you need one — a stylish field jacket, that is! Shop my picks for the best men’s field jackets for GearMoose recently, my friends.
- Y’all are familiar with the excellent #menswear coming out of Bridge & Burn, right? I visited the brand on a West Coast trip to Portland last month, and I’ve also interviewed founder Erik Prowell here on The Style Guide. That being said, I’d encourage you to shop my favorite picks from Bridge & Burn, as covered on The Manual recently! Cheers!
- We’ve had lots of content going up on the blog lately, but among the menswear I’m recommending you pick up for fall, the SeaVees x Huckberry Coronado Boot is a unique shoe that’s part sneaker, part boot and plenty stylish. Read more here.
- Finally — and outside of the menswear realm — taking care of yourself, your well-being and your work life is, to say the least, vitally important. That being said, there’s a new supplement on the market that can help you along on that front. ALTA, a vegan supplement delivered in crisp packaging via the brand’s subscription model, is doing it right with ALTA Focus and Mood supplements, newly launched and ready to help you power through whatever’s on your plate. I’ve tried out the Focus supplement recently, and can definitely recommend it (and thank you to the brand for sending!). Will you be giving it a shot soon?

That’s all I’ve got today, my friends. Need new fall boots? Shop away. Want a stylish shirt for fall? This post should have you covered.
And with that — thanks for reading!
