It’s high time you geared up for spring, is it not?

Still searching for the best spring rain jacket, like the Relwen Packlight Shell as shown above? Or perhaps you’re after other crucial pieces among a host of men’s style essentials you need for the season? Oh, and as ever … keep your credit card handy. You’ll need it.

Relwen Packlight Shell — $228 (Huckberry Exclusive)

The breathable, packable, functional shell that’s going to take you through spring.

As sold by the good folks at one of my favorite online shops, this stylish rain jacket is also seriously functional — it’s maybe the perfect spring jacket wear all day, every day (or at least on rain days, that is).

Colchester High-Top Sneakers — $79.98

The classic basketball shoes you didn’t know you needed.

We go from a stylish rain jacket right into the high-top sneakers you need now. These are a seriously affordable, subtly cool pair of high-top kicks you’ll want to wear with … well, everything. They also happen to be a remake of the original basketball shoe. Too cool.

Luminox Atacama Field Automatic 1900 Watch — $890

A durable, tough, insanely well-made field watch to wear on the daily this spring.

The search for a functional, rugged & classic everyday watch is over — the Luminox Atacama is made for the field, but polished enough for a day of spring travel. Potentially an investment-worthy watch to splurge on? You better believe it.

Flint and Tinder French Terry Pullover Hoodie — $88

The casual, cozy, cool hoodie you need in your spring rotation.

Speaking of crucial spring layers, allow me to introduce you to your new favorite hooded sweatshirt. Able to be worn quite nicely with slim light wash jeans and vintage sneakers this spring, don’t you think?

Bespoke Post Crema Box — $45 (When Signing up for Bespoke Post)

This could be the best way to make espresso at home, take it from me.

Searching for perhaps the best way to make espresso at home? For a price that’s incredibly affordable? The Bespoke Post Crema Box is here to help you upgrade your coffee this spring.

Outerknown Dune Jersey Polo — $68

The breezy polo to wear all spring and summer.

You surely know Outerknown and handsome, trusty spring style essentials like the Outerknown Puffer Jacket. (An important note: You can use the code STYLEGUIDE25 to get 25 percent off any full-priced Outerknown item). Now, meet your new favorite spring and summer polo, the Outerknown Dune Jersey Polo. Made to feel a much-loved T-shirt and yet finished with the classic design details of a traditional polo, the use of garment-dyed Supima cotton (and Fair Trade craftsmanship) sets this stylish spring polo apart from the pack.
Flint and Tinder Heavy Slub Tee — $38

A classic T-shirt you’ll want to wear all spring.

From polos to T-shirts — and yes, more gear from Flint and Tinder. Thing is, we’re back this time with the best new T-shirt to buy now. How can you not love the slub texture, the pleasing spring colors, and the excellent versatility?
Faherty Brand Overdyed Denim — $178

Richly crafted and yet pleasingly faded — a new spring go-to.

Stop searching for the best men’s jeans for spring and summer, because this particular pair — always well-crafted from Faherty Brand — could be just the ticket. Wear them with that Outerknown polo shown above.
Cardon for Men¬†Daily SPF —¬†$20

A well-made moisturizer and SPF combo that seriously delivers.

Finding a simple, go-to product to add to your grooming routine for spring and summer can prove tricky — after all, the men’s grooming landscape is surprisingly crowded these days. That being said, Cardon for Men might be onto something. They’ve worked with some of Korea’s top skincare manufacturers to deliver a daily SPF and moisturizer that’s not oily or overly fragrant — in fact, it’s one of the best moisturizers for men that I’ve tried. Get a tube for yourself now via the brand’s Web site. A reminder that you can find them on Instagram right here, too.
Bradley Mountain The Rambler — $285

The exact bag you need for all your spring and summer adventures.

Finding the right bag for spring and summer travel was just made a heck of a lot easier, thanks to the Bradley Mountain Rambler; it’s made with both waxed canvas and bridle leather for outstanding looks and tons of durability.
Blundstone Super 550 Boots — $185

A classic pair of Australian boots that are now quite the style statement.

We’ve certainly talked in past editions of The List about how Blundstone boots might just be the best boots to buy for rainy weather. And well, that’s why they’re featured here again today.
Zeal Optics Windsor Sunglasses — $149

The right way to shake up your sunglasses rotation.

We’d be remiss not to include a pair of the best men’s sunglasses in this edition of The List for you, seeing as how summer is creeing every closer. And the Zeal Optics Windsor Sunglasses are highly unique and affordably priced, to boot.
Now, that’s going to wrap up today’s post. Do any of the above make your list of new menswear essentials? For me, I’d say you can’t go wrong with the perfect spring jacket — that’d be the Relwen Packlight, as pictured above. Feel free, as always, to let me know your thoughts via Twitter. Thanks for reading!

Your search for the perfect shave just got a whole lot easier — in fact, when you pick up the Bespoke Post Lather Box, the perfect shave has a price to it … a price of just $45 (when signing up for Bespoke Post, that is).¬†Why the Lather Box, and why now? Well, we’re truly into spring — perhaps you’re the type of guy who grows out a beard for the fall and winter, and you want to part with it (sheds single tear). Perhaps, you just appreciate a classic, old-fashioned shave — either way, the Bespoke Post Lather Box is here to help. Changing up your facial hair as a new season rolls in is something you might be considering, but if you needed another reason to give it a shot, consider this one last push.

SHOP: The Bespoke Post Lather Box

That’s certainly why we count on Bespoke Post here on the blog: Think of something you need, and they’ve got it. And you DO need that close, essential shave, especially to start a new season. It’s even better that the Bespoke Post Lather Box is packed with men’s grooming essentials from Base Light, a modern brand that still respects old-school traditions. So, you’re not only getting Pure Badger Shaving Brush, you’re also getting Base Light’s Hydrate Shave Cream to go along with it — see, that’s the best of the old and the new, all wrapped up in the Bespoke Post Lather Box.

Another considered step to add to your grooming routine.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Bespoke Post Lather Box helps you store your shaving essentials as well, thanks to a modern chrome shaving stand, along with a concrete shaving bowl. That these are two modern takes on the type of products your grandfather would have used is certainly intentional — and the Bespoke Post Lather Box is all the better for it. The final step in the perfect shave for your whiskers? Adding in some of the Restore Post-Shave Balm, designed to cool and soothe your skin. Set aside the balm and the shaving cream, store the brush, then call it a day — the Bespoke Post Lather Box really does make it that easy. Plus, it looks cool and channels that timeless, old-school cool you used to see in Old Spice commercials. Don’t take my word for it, though. Get your hands on the Bespoke Post Lather Box, and your face will thank you.

The Friday Read: The Best Men‚Äôs White Jeans, V76 by Vaughn & Portland, Maine

Happy Friday, folks! We made it through another week, but I’m not done with my work just quite yet. Namely, we’re kicking off today’s post by telling you about the one product — just one — that can give your fresh spring haircut a lift (as seen above!). That would be the excellent V76 by Vaughn Texture Clay, an American-made men’s grooming essential that provides a medium hold and nice separation while moisturizing your hair. Say adios to your old winter ‘do — I’ve loved trying out the Texture Clay this week (as you might have seen on my Instagram), and I can’t recommend it enough. The Blue Cedar fragrance is mighty pleasing, and it’s also made without parabens. Simply perfect. Now, to other matters in menswear.

We’ll have another Style Pick of the Week coming tomorrow, so stay tuned. In the meantime, it’s pretty neat to be able to cross another city off my travel bucket list this fine spring weekend — for me, that’d be Portland, Maine, a City I’ve long wanted to explore for its reputed beer scene and small-town Northeast feel. I happen to be trekking there this weekend to enjoy the likes of great Northeast coffee & Allagash Brewing beer, to go along with a show (always a show!) by remarkable up-and-coming pop star Maggie Rogers! I’ve previously seen Maggie play two sold-out shows back in August 2017 at the wonderful Brooklyn Steel, and this Saturday night show at the State Theatre should be no less remarkable! I particularly love her debut album, “Heard It In A Past Life,” and am so excited for what should be a transcendent evening (truly!).

Have any suggestions as to what I should do in Portland? Hit me up on Twitter (find me via @BoKnowsClothes!). Make no mistake though, we’ll be busy on the blog all the meanwhile. To wit: we’ve got plenty of men’s style content for you to enjoy on this lovely weekend, from the best spring rain jacket to a full list of seasonal menswear essentials. Get your weekend going below — and maybe spin some tunes from Maggie Rogers while you’re at it! Cheers!

  • Do white jeans feel like a style risk? Well, that’s understandable — and that being said, spring and summer presents a prime opportunity to try out a pair (seriously!). So, without further ado, read about my favorite pairs of white jeans over at The Manual. Cheers!
  • It’s worth refreshing your style and your beer fridge in equal measure for spring. That being said, it’s awfully nice to crack open a beer that’s packed with flavor & hops, even as the weather warms up. On that note, there’s no better beer embodying this currently than the Lagunitas Hop Stoopid Ale — check out my rundown of this excellent beer for GearMoose.
  • If you know me, you know I love — and frequently recommend — a stylish pair of men’s sneakers for spring. And for my money’s worth, it doesn’t get any better or more unique than the ZDA Handball Trainers, which I wrote about recently for GearMoose. Wear ’em with light was jeans and a white skin tee. Read and enjoy, folks!

That’s all from me for now — again, check back for tomorrow’s Style Pick of the Week covering spring style essentials. Thanks for reading!

The Friday Read: Vancouver, Arkells & Hawthorne Grooming

The perfect gear essentials for any situation — all from Bradley Mountain and Bespoke Post.

It’s the first winter weekend of February — to me, that means it’s time for you to enjoy another Friday Read and also, perhaps, time for you to shop some new men’s style essentials from the good folks at Bradley Mountain. As seen above (and as sold by Bespoke Post), Bradley Mountain stocks exceedingly stylish and well-crafted leather goods, particularly fitting for winter travel. Speaking of winter travel, well, that’s the theme for yours truly this weekend — I’ll be heading to the great Western city of Vancouver for quite the exciting trip tonight. It’s a particularly special adventure, as I’m hitting the road to see Canadian mega-stars Arkells play a sold-out Pacific Coliseum on the “Rally Cry” Tour! They’ve become one of my favorite bands over the years (including three packed NYC shows at small clubs) — what’s more, they’ve got quite the support act in Lord Huron! But mainly, Arkells epitomize passion and work ethic with their uplifting blend of rock and power pop.

In fact, last year’s “Rally Cry” album was a huge favorite. To see a band play to about 300 people in Brooklyn — and then to be able to watch that same band sell out a 17,000-seat arena in its home country — is pretty special, to say the least!¬†Aside from the show, what should I do in Vancouver? Let me know of any must-visit spots on Twitter.¬†And to follow along with my trip, head to my Instagram. For now, I’ve got some writing to wrap up before I hit the road — start your weekend with the right way with a new edition of the Friday Read, and be sure to enjoy tomorrow’s Style Pick of the Week. Cheers!

  • Recently, I had the chance to get acquainted with a new brand that stocks custom men’s grooming essentials aplenty — that brand would be Hawthorne, based right here in NYC. They make customized cologne, body wash & soap using a grooming algorithm¬†and quiz¬†that’s pretty neat — and the process yields some quality results. You can read the full men’s grooming review over at The Manual!

Alright, before we go … I’ll leave you with a few more crucial menswear reads and shopping suggestions. Namely, upgrade your crewneck sweatshirt with this classic crewneck from Todd Snyder x Champion. You really won’t regret it. Or, you can scratch that itch when it comes to the best new menswear for winter, via a recent entry in our shopping series The List. OK, ready for the weekend? Same here! Thanks so much for reading.

#OOTD: How to Wear a Rugged Overshirt This Fall

This week’s #OOTD fun on The Style Guide continues in fine fashion — or should I say, fall fashion? That’s right — we’re truly starting to get into rugged fall style on the blog, from the menswear to wear on a fall trip to today’s focus: How to wear a rugged overshirt this season. ¬†The overshirt — particular a stylish Taylor Stitch overshirt as featured today — is as versatile a #menswear layering weapon as you’ve got in your fall style arsenal. Namely, it can function as both a shirt … and a jacket. For those days and nights when it’s not cold enough for a heavier top layer, an overshirt can pull double duty. Feel free to layer it over a slim striped henley or toss it on over another shirt — say, an American-made Oxford. Made with the right fabric (like the Japanese selvedge cotton found on the Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket seen here), it’s going to provide warmth from the chill¬†and earn you major style points at the same time. You’ll notice some other fall style touches, including stylish (yet tough!) Danner hiking boots and a classic field watch. This look is casual enough to fit in at an outdoor concert, it’s durable and rugged enough to wear to a fall tailgate … basically, a rugged overshirt is your ticket to versatile, casual style this season. Want more style tips? Follow me on Instagram. And let me know what you think of the below #OOTD in the comments below!

Rugged fall style

Classically rugged fall style — essential for a tailgate, a bonfire or a day trip. Gotta love the rugged Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket as seen here.

The Overshirt: Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket in Sea Washed Indigo, $118¬†¬†(When¬†Signing Up for Bespoke Post)¬†— Ahh yes, the well-made, well-crafted and exceptionally stylish¬†rugged overshirt¬†we discussed earlier. ¬†This¬†Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket¬†features selvedge detailing and a modern fit.

The Henley: Taylor Stitch Mercerized Merino Henley, $125¬†— What are you layering under your Taylor Stitch overshirt? A rugged Taylor Stitch Mercerized Merino Henley, of course. The stripes add visual interest, and the merino wool adds breathability and classic fall style.

The Denim:¬†DSTLD Slim Jeans in Charcoal Overdye, $85¬†— You could certainly throw on a pair of classic dark denim for monochromatic style, but these slim charcoal jeans from direct-to-consumer Los Angeles brand DSTLD offer a neat contrast in terms of color and texture.

The Boots: ¬†Danner Vertigo 917 Boots, $220 —¬†Now, you could easily swap in a pair of stylish leather sneakers here, yet these hybrid hiking boots from Danner convey both rugged style and functionality — a wise bet if you end up on your feet for longer than expected (perhaps an Octoberfest bar crawl, ehh?).

The Belt:¬†Sturdy Brothers Everyday Belt in Chestnut, $80 — We always say that the little details make the difference here at The Style Guide, and this tough leather belt from Sturdy Brothers gets those details right.

The Socks:¬†Arvin Goods Crew Socks (Three-pack) — $24¬†— If you read this blog regularly, you recognize the name Arvin Goods — the brand makes functional, understated socks at a great price. These affordable crew socks should team nicely with your Danner hiking boots.
The Watch: Momentum Watches Flatline 42 Fabric Watch,¬†$164.98¬†— When your outfit is filled with adventure-ready pieces, it makes sense to grab a classic field watch. The Flatine 42 Fabric Watch from Momentum Watches gives you the durability and style you need.
The Fall Essential:¬†Knight Co. Complete Moisturizer,¬†$24¬†—¬†Don’t overlook the importance of keeping your grooming game tuned up through the fall months — especially as colder weather descends. The Knight Co. Complete Moisturizer should prove both premium and quite helpful with that goal.

As October approaches and crisp weather rolls into town, I’d say you surely need a rugged layering piece with plenty of potential — the¬†Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket¬†is going to be your ticket to essential fall style. From craft beer festivals to weekend coffee trips and perhaps a stylish fall weekend trip, there’s little that the¬†Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket¬†can’t do. Particularly when layered up with a rugged striped henley — also from Taylor Stitch — you’re going to be set for fall weekends aplenty. Charcoal denim from DSTLD is a nice way to mix things up visually, while the Danner Vertigo 917 Boots offer both comfort and durability for all-day style. And with its subtly fashionable design and tough construction, the¬†Flatine 42 Fabric Watch¬†is the ideal casual men’s watch to offset this ensemble. Of course, no outfit is complete without taking care of your men’s grooming essentials — who else needs that Knight Co. moisturizer in their medicine cabinet? At any rate, I hope this #OOTD gets you thinking when it comes to rugged fall style. Who’s ready for the season? I sure am!

Thanks for reading and cheers,

-Beau

Style Pick of the Week: Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit

Harry's Grooming

Everything you need for a great shave — at home or on the road, courtesy of Harry’s.

Ever been stuck on the road without the means of getting the perfect shave you might be used to back home? Well, the Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit solve that problem for you. Now, I like to take care of my beard using simpler methods, so I haven’t personally broken out the Travel Shave Kit quite yet — but I can assure you that if Harry’s is the brand behind it, it’s gotta be good.  Having something so essential to carry with you is going to prove mighty effective as you dress for fall travel — and the Travel Shave Kit  also gives you an excuse to change up your stubble or beard for a new season. It’s everything you need to get a great shave, packed into a stylish dopp kit. The brand aims to be different, offering quality designs and a quality shave at a lower cost — in fact, $2 lower per blade than the big guys. That adds up in the long run — and the excellent blades & clean design are just part of what makes the Essential Travel Shave Kit so, well, essential for guys who hit the road frequently. And even if you don’t need to pack up the Travel Shave Kit every week, you still get even more bang for your buck (something we certainly love here at The Style Guide). In this case, Huckberry members get a gift card for four additional blades from Harry’s, in addition to the four that ship with the Travel Shave Kit. Oh, and those blades work hand-in-hand (blade-in-blade?) with the brand’s Winston copper-handled razor — your everyday shave, this is not.  That includes the bells and whistles it comes with — and in. Make sense?

Harry's

The brand’s copper-handled razor makes for a smooth and stylish shave.

Crucially, the Travel Shave Kit really is a full kit, seeing as it’s housed in a custom-made, water-resistant Harry’s dopp kit. What’s more, you get the brand’s famous shaving cream and post-shave balm included — seriously, is there anything the Travel Shave Kit can’t provide for the guy on the go? Well, OK … it can’t pack your stylish weekender bag. But other than that, it should be incredibly useful. After a long day on the road, it’s nice to freshen up with a crisp shave (says the guy with a full beard). At any rate, it’s tough to find something as thoughtfully designed and executed as the Travel Shave Kit — and at an excellent price, too. We’re talking under $50 for Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit— that’s blades, shaving cream and all. And the even better part? You can certainly use the gear from the Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit when you’re not on the road. The brand’s razors are an incredible value and incredible quality, or so I’m told. At any rate, the next time you pack up in style, your saving grace in terms of grooming essentials could be the Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit. We’re in the midst of a new season, so step your game up accordingly.

Do you have any experience with the Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit? Will you be taking the Travel Shave Kit  with you on the road this season?

#OOTD: Wear This Black Denim Jacket for Early Fall

How are you prepping for fall? And what are we excited about when it comes to #menswear? For your Style Guide author, I’m personally excited about a return to rugged layering in particular — including a refresher on how to wear a black denim jacket. Taking slightly unexpected, edgy pieces and mixing them together is one of the small joys of the season — take, for instance, the Roark Revival denim jacket we’re talking about in today’s #OOTD. It’s got just enough cool design touches to set it apart from your typical denim jacket, from the unique chest pocket detailing to the faded black color. And crucially, a jacket like the Roark Revival HWY 41 Jacket is going to be the perfect way to step into fall. It makes for a great layer on chilly weekend days and week nights alike, and that edgy style is going to help you go everywhere from a rock concert to a bar crawl to a weekend coffee run. When paired up with other fall style essentials — including classic suede chukka boots and a rugged striped henley — you’re going to be able to take on everything from a weekend getaway to a casual date night out seriously. So, are you ready to learn about your new favorite denim jacket? Good. Then let’s go! Follow me on Instagram for more insider style tips, plus a dose of craft beer and live music.

Rugged Fall Style

A mix of edgy pieces — like the Roark Revival denim jacket — and classic offerings, like a rugged henley.

The Jacket:¬†Roark Revival HWY 41 Denim Jacket, $79.98¬†— As discussed above, the affordably priced, well-crafted and uniquely edgy¬†Roark Revival HWY 41 Jacket¬†is the unexpected fall layering piece you didn’t know you needed — until now.

The Henley:¬†Taylor Stitch Mercerized Merino Henley,¬†$98 (When¬†Signing Up for Bespoke Post)¬†— When is it worth it to pay nearly $100 for a henley? When that rugged henley is made by Taylor Stitch.

The Pants:¬†Original Penguin P55 Brushed Cotton 5-Pocket Pant, $89¬†— Want to shake things up from your typical rotation of slim blue denim ¬†this fall? Reach for a pair of tailored cotton 5-pocket pants for a bit of high-low style.

The Boots: Hudson Shoes Corelli Suede Dip Dye Boots,¬†$198¬†(When¬†Signing Up for Bespoke Post) ¬†— Want a pair of footwear that’s going to fit right in with the rock n’roll vibes of this ensemble? Suede chukka boots are going to be your best bet — Hudson Shoes¬†knocked it out of the park with the Corelli Suede Dip Dye Boots.

The Socks:¬†Arvin Goods Crew Socks (Three-pack),¬†$30¬†— Sustainably made, understated socks are what Arvin Goods excels at making — these stylish crew socks fit the bill nicely.

The Belt:¬†Sturdy Brothers Everyday Belt in Natural,¬†$80¬†— Don’t forget about the small style details. Particularly when your outfit is packed with rugged basics, your belt should fall in that same category aesthetically. Sturdy Brothers gets it right with the Everyday Belt.

The Watch:¬†Szanto Aviator Automatic Watch —¬†$289¬†— Rugged good looks, tough durability and a subtly stylish design make the Szanto Aviator Automatic Watch¬†the right timepiece to offset this outfit.

The Grooming Essential:¬†Blind Barber 60 Proof Hair Wax, $18¬†— What if I told you for under $20, you could get a true men’s grooming essential to help complement this sharp look? Easy choice, right?

When the foundation of your outfit is the rugged, edgy and unique Roark Revival HWY 41 Jacket, it makes filling in the pieces around it pretty easy. And when those pieces happen to include a mix of high-low style essentials like brushed cotton pants and a rugged striped henley? Well, the only question now is where that outfit can take you.   Stylish, sharp footwear like the  Corelli Suede Dip Dye Boots are a great way to step into early fall thanks to their unique texture and versatility, while a tough timepiece like the Szanto Aviator Automatic Watch  is going to complement plenty of seasonally ready outfits. Remember to turn to durable, dependable brands like Sturdy Brothers to upgrade your accessories, and know that the little touches in terms of grooming (like using Baxter of California hair wax) are going to take your ensemble to the next level. So, what do you think of this #OOTD? Where would you wear the Roark Revival HWY 41 Jacket this fall?

Thanks for reading, as always!
