Style Pick of the Week: Armogan Regalia Watch

Best men's dress watches

The new dress watch that’s going to help you reset your style for the new year — or close out this one the right way.

Here at The Style Guide, we’ve previously covered one of the best men’s watches to buy … for the field. Not necessarily that ultra-dressy night that lies ahead of you: New Year’s Eve. Granted, not everyone’s end to 2018 involves suiting up and hitting the town, but if that’s what your plans involve, I’d say we’ve got the watch for you. By we, I mean me — your team of one. And if you happen to just be looking for a stylish new watch to kick off 2019 the right way? Well, that’s all the better. Ladies and gents, meet the Armogan Regalia Watch, a handsome and sharp timepiece that’s going to elevate nearly any outfit with which you pair it — again, regardless of whether or not you get decked out for New Year’s Eve. In the way of the best men’s dress watches, there are several key factors at play — and the Armogan Regalia Watch checks all the right boxes. The Regalia Watch is A) Extremely affordable and B) Uniquely suited for tailored looks (think a clean navy flannel suit) or casual wear (try it with a classic crewneck sweater and perfectly faded denim). Yes, that’s right — one watch can do all of that. Believe it.

Armogan

Simple, sharp and well-designed — perfect for the office or the weekend.

It’s that crisp, razor-sharp design that makes this stylish leather dress watch a uniquely wearable option even with more laidback gear — and the terrific price means you should feel free to wear it as much as you please. Armogan makes watches that harken back to simpler times, when it felt right — and it was even expected — to wear a watch. That fact makes the handsome Armogan Regalia Watch feel distinctive enough for New Year’s Eve, and yet ready to wear with a classic henley, a waxed trucker jacket and durable snow boots on New Year’s Day — feel free to give it a try. That’s because the well-made Armogan Regalia Watch features touches like a stainless steel case and 50 meters of water resistance, along with a leather strap that’ll break in over time. It’s a classic leather watch that’ll get better with age — and it’s certainly not stuffy. You can — and again, you should — wear it for pursuits like winter travel or a stylish day at the office. Don’t believe me? Give the Armogan Regalia Watch a try this New Year’s Eve (you can get it in time!), then report back to me. Cheers!

The Friday Read: The Best New Shirt Jacket, Taylor Stitch and New Year’s Eve

A versatile and stylish way to start the new year — and end this one.

We’re just days — mere days — away from saying goodbye to 2018 and stepping with full force into 2019. We’ll get to that in a moment, but if I were you, I might just make my last purchase of 2018 the Taylor Stitch Coit Jacket, shown at the top of the page. A unique and unconventional choice when it comes to one of the best men’s winter jackets, I’d wager. Yes indeed, Taylor Stitch does it again. Now, onto what’s ahead of us and what’s behind us. Behind us? Well, 2018 — quite the up-and-down year across the country and the globe. Hopefully, dressing well and improving (or refining) your personal style was largely helpful in navigating some of the, erm, chaos we faced? From weekly men’s style essentials to guides on situations as varied as how to dress for the office and how to dress for a rock concert — among many, many more — I hope you found some enjoyment in this corner of the Web. I’ve also had plenty of fun writing for The Manual and GearMoose, so if either of those sites brought you here, I’d like to say … thanks! We’re not done with 2018 yet, though. It’s time to dress for New Year’s Eve (check out our #OOTD series for more) and it’s time to close out the year in style, assuredly.

    • If you don’t yet have a rugged shirt jacket in your closet, you need one. Preferably, the best men’s shirt jacket. OK, there’s probably more than one worthy of your consideration, but for my money’s worth, the Faherty Brand Atmosphere Shirt Jacket (as discussed on the blog last week) is the perfect layer to throw on at the airport for winter travel (preferably atop a classic henley) or as an easygoing layer for a cozy, stylish winter weekend. Can’t go wrong.
    • Looking for a  warm, rugged leather jacket that just so happens to be heritage-quality and extremely cool? The Orvis World Traveler Leather Jacket — just one of my latest style features at GearMoose — could be the way to go.
    • With New Year’s Eve on the way (can you believe it!?), I’m going to once again recommend you wear a stylish, classic peacoat — like this one right here. They’re might not be a better way to stay tailored and look sharp than with the Billy Reid Bond Peacoat, in my estimation. That’s all there is to it.
    • Speaking of style upgrades for New Year’s Eve and beyond, I rounded up the best shaving soaps for men, also for GearMoose. Look slick, look sharp … look your best to start 2019.

Shop Faherty Brand

Alright, folks. Can you believe it’s the last edition of the Friday Read for 2018? I truly can’t — it’s wild, it flies by and I’ve probably filled up my plate too much at times, but again, if you’ve taken the time to read The Style Guide this year, I thank you! Of course, we’ll have our last Style Pick of the Week of the year tomorrow, followed by some very timely content on Monday and Tuesday. Then, it’s a wrap! Again, thanks for reading — stay stylish out there!

#OOTD: Here’s What to Wear for New Year’s Eve This Year

Looking for the perfect men’s style essentials when it comes down to what to wear for New Year’s Eve? Well, that’s easy — and you’re in luck. Yessir, it all starts with shopping the below picks in today’s new #OOTD. Oh, and while we’re at it … Merry Christmas! With this laidback holiday in the books (are you wearing something like this casual ensemble?), it’s time to turn our attention toward a more refined, dressy night. New Year’s Eve presents a multitude of options — maybe you’re hitting the town for dinner and drinks … and then the club (gasp)? Maybe you happen to be hosting a refined get-together of your own. Maybe you’re traveling to see friends and family. Maybe it’s a night at home. Whatever the occasion, and barring any black tie dress code, the below #OOTD has what you need. From a warm, stylish wool blazer to a tailored dress shirt from Taylor Stitch, we’re going with a sharp look up top. Don’t forget a classic topcoat, either. And on your bottom half, we’ve got the goods you need to get around slippery streets in style. Think slim black jeans paired up with some of the best leather boots money can buy — and don’t sleep on the seriously cool black-and-brown combo here; to me, it just works. Elsewhere, stylish leather gloves keep you warm on the streets, as do unique patterned socks.  Will this ensemble work for you? Only time will tell, right?

The right, mix of edgy — slim black denim — and refined (a tailored topcoat and slim dress shirt). Perfect to ring in the new year.

  • The Topcoat: O.N.S Clothing Grant Topcoat, $528 — Wherever  you go this New Year’s Eve, I’d bet you’re going to want to stay warm. This slim topcoat is timeless no matter what your plans involve.
  • The Blazer: Grayers Hutton Wool Sportcoat, $195 — Hey, New Year’s Eve can be a pretty dressy night, right? This tailored wool blazer is polished without going full-on tuxedo.
  • The Shirt: Taylor Stitch The Hyde Shirt, $75.98 — While you could always go  more casual and wear a rugged chambray shirt, a stylish dress shirt (sans tie) never fails.
  • The Slim Denim: Taylor Stitch Democratic Jeans in Kuroki Mills Black Selvage, $145 — More great menswear from Taylor Stitch, in the form of some of the best men’s black denim you can buy.
  • The Rugged Boots: Original Chippewa Service Boots (Huckberry Exclusive), $279 — These stylish brown leather boots are a winter-ready NYE footwear pick, and they look pretty slick paired up with slim black denim.
  • The Socks: CHUP Secado Socks, $35 — We’re keeping things pretty neutral in terms of color in this outfit, so subtly stylish patterned socks are a nice move here.
  • The Watch: Jack Mason Camp Watch, $195 — With the durability of a field watch and the style of a classic leather dress watch, this timepiece is a winner for the night.
  • The Gloves: Hestra Samuel Gloves, $135 — We mentioned that you needed casual accessories that keep you warm, and these high-quality leather gloves look great, too.
  • The Grooming Essential: Buckler’s Daily Defense Kit, $68 — Winter can play tricks on your skin — and New Year’s Eve is no time to let that happen. Use these grooming essentials to look your best (and maybe snag a New Year’s Eve kiss!?)

New Year’s Eve is a great time to put together all of your favorite winter style essentials in one go-anywhere outfit. From casual drinks at home to an evening on the town, there’s no denying that pieces like a slim topcoat are going to prove essential (and warm!) no matter what. Top off your look with a casual wool blazer that just so happens to be polished and crisp — alongside a classic slim dress shirt, of course. It’s a look that’s going to win you compliments no matter where you go, and the same can be said of pairing it all with black selvage jeans that A) Wear like dress pants and B) Just so happen to be some of the best men’s black denim on the market. Your footwear is also critical, especially when roads and sidewalks can get icy and snowy. That, my friends, is where a pair of stylish brown leather boots come into play — especially a pair from Original Chippewa. And when the time comes to slip off your boots?

You needn’t worry about looking out of place, because stylish patterned socks from CHUP more than get the job done — again, it’s the little details that win you praise from family and friends, right? On that front, high-quality leather gloves will keep you warm without missing a beat — no overly technical gloves here. New Year’s Eve is also a time to break out the best on your wrist, so a classic leather dress watch more than fits the bill.  Last but certainly not least, a handy trio of grooming essentials are the easy way to look your best — and impress your date or your partner. Those are all the pieces of the puzzle to put togher for one heck of an #OOTD. As we close out 2018, thanks so much for reading — just know that before the year is up, we’ll have plenty more style content on the way!

Style Pick of the Week: O.N.S. Clothing Dominic Bomber

A new classic — highly stylish and functional.

On the hunt for one of the best men’s jackets for winter? Search no more, because I’d wager I found it. And that jacket, my friends, would be the O.N.S Clothing Dominic Bomber, a rugged, durable & simply cool old-school jacket you can wear with nearly anything. It channels the type of throwback style born of much-needed functionality; it’s easy to see the O.N.S Clothing Dominic Bomber being worn on the deck of a ship or on the chilly coast during a rainstorm. That’s how the brand approaches designig its gear, and that’s great news for all of us who could use a wardrobe upgrade. Right? In my mind, the O.N.S Clothing Dominic Bomber is absolutely one of the the best men’s jackets your money can buy. Make no mistake, it’s an investment at $428, but your wardrobe will be all the better for it. Made from half-lambswool and half-nylon, it’s a classic cut that wears nicely with all manner of men’s style essentials, including slim tan chinos and a timeless chambray shirt. The faux shearling collar is also a badass style touch that’ll keep you warm no matter how chilly it gets, too. Can it get better? Actually, yes.

SHOP: The O.N.S Clothing Dominic Bomber

This coat really is the sort of style you just don’t see anymore, and that makes it all the better to wear with equally classic pieces like a rugged henley and your favorite pair of slim jeans. The quilted lining should also offer even more protection from the cold — make no mistake, the O.N.S Clothing Dominic Bomber has a lot going for it. The Dark Green color is also uniquely rich and distinctive, made to stand out stylishly in the grey depths of winter. It’s a sharp substitute for a blazer, and would wear nicely with a crisp Oxford shirt and slim wool trousers — just add handsome leather boots, and you’re set for the office holiday party or a tailored weekend happy hour.  How’s that for one of the best men’s jackets? Not bad at all, if you ask me. Again, it’s an investment at more than $400, but the O.N.S Clothing Dominic Bomber is going to give you returns in spades — to say the least. Again, it’s a jacket you can wear to channel more rugged style (think chore pants, a thermal shirt and the Huckberry Duck Boots) or a tailored look (a chambray dress shirt and a knit tie). Still not sold? Once you try this jacket, you will be.

Faherty Brand review

Layer up for winter travel with this Faherty Brand jacket.

That is to say, the Atmosphere Jacket wears like both a shirt and, well, a jacket, from the easy-to-layer fit to the 100 percent nylon construction. It’s a lightweight layer for the airport that’ll also insulate you from winter’s chill outside — that’s a major positive. The Faherty Brand Atmosphere Jacket uses channel quilting for extra warmth, too. In short: Throw on the Faherty Brand Atmosphere Jacket with a crisp white T-shirt and perfectly faded jeans for your next long flight. But Beau, isn’t it acceptable to wear slouchy sweats and a baggy hoodie to travel? Not so fast, my friend.

SHOP: The Faherty Brand Atmosphere Jacket

No sir, the Faherty Brand Atmosphere Jacket (also available in Black and Navy) is exactly the travel style upgrade you need to make, regardless of where your plans might lead. While others are trying to just catch their connecting flight, wearing a warm & stylish layer like the Atmosphere Jacket might help you take on the day with a bit more polish. It’s as easy as throwing on a great coat — like the Atmosphere Jacket — and then upgrading your bottom half (again, perfectly faded jeans are the way to go). Plus, the Atmosphere Jacket  features custom rubberized Faherty snap buttons and two front chest pockets for durability — and the perfect place to store your everyday carry essentials going through security! Bingo. And on chilly winter mornings when you get to your destination? Throw on the Faherty Brand Atmosphere Jacket and pair it with slim, tailored sweatpants — and maybe the Huckberry Duck Boots — to grab a weekend coffee.

#OOTD: How to Dress for a Casual Christmas This Year

Folks, it’s coming right up — we’re talking, of course, about Christmas. Perhaps you’ve made it through the holiday party gauntlet and are winding things down to enjoy the day at home … but I doubt it. No sir, this time of year calls for nothing but the best men’s style essentials, even if you’re simply relaxing with a small group of family or friends at home or on the road. Head here for a holiday dressing suggestion). But let’s go back to that middle task for a second: Gift-giving. If you used this site to take care of some shopping early this year, good for you. If not, fret no more — the Bespoke Post Unplug Box (just $55!) is perhaps the perfect gift to get your partner this year. Your wife, your girlfriend, your life partner — heck, your mother-in-law — can all find something refreshing about the excellent, recently launched Unplug Box.

Now, you probably know Bespoke Post for the site’s stylish shirting, rugged leather boots and well-designed home goods … but the site is so much more than that, and it’s better than ever now that you can get one of the best gifts for her with only a few clicks. No gimmicks, no fine print — just a great gift, just in time. What exactly is it about the Bespoke Post Unplug Box that makes it an essential (if last-minute) gift?

SHOP: The Bespoke Post Unplug Box

There surely are plenty of reasons. For one, the Unplug Box (again, only $55!) starts with the Ranger Diffuser (complete with peppermint essential oil). It’s a sneaky way to make a home or bedroom smell like a million bucks (not literally) by diffusing a light, fragrant aroma throughout the space. Cashmere-blend socks from Etiquette Clothiers pamper her feet, and the hits really do keep coming from there. The Unplug Box also features unique Golden Fuel Turmeric-Collagen Blend, a cure-all powder of sorts that can be mixed with hot milk for a golden latte, all the while working wonders for heart health and workout recovery. Another piece of the puzzle in place, thanks to the Unplug Box. The final essential that makes the Bespoke Post Unplug Box so uniquely gift-worthy? A lavender bath bomb made with sage and eucalyptus for the ultimate in relaxation. And again, you really do get all of this for just $55 with the incredible (yes, incredible) Bespoke Post Unplug Box. Never doubt your gift-giving ability again, OK?  And let me know on Twitter if you do pick it up.
