The Sunday Sale: These Flint and Tinder Work Pants are Up for Grabs at a Discount in Time For Fall

At times, you’ve got to keep your ear to the ground — or a weather eye on the horizon — to find a discount on the best men’s style essentials, the sort of pieces you can actually wear immediately in a given season.

That is to say, while some retailers shop past seasonal wares (say, selling spring gear in the fall), some retailers, like Huckberry, offer up discounts on goods that can be put to good use right away — like a pair of the best work pants for men, as shown above from Flint and Tinder.

We’re diving into the pair in question during today’s Sunday Sale with plenty of time to spare in terms of rugged fall style and wearability, and the fact that these durable men’s work pants are nearly 50 percent off is a nice added bonus indeed.

Look closely, and you’ll see that the Flint and Tinder Ripstop Mill Pants are based on an archival pair of U.S. Army pants, and outfitted with plenty of helpful bells and whistles.

Best work pants for men this fall.

Those include a cotton-linen ripstop blend for intense durability and yet a lightweight appeal — until temperatures drop drastically, these pants should prove an ample substitute at times for heavier canvas work pants.

They’re also double-lined in the knees, and Huckberry doubled down by reinforcing the pockets and key stress pants. The fit should provide ample room to move — no matter your fall pursuits — and the style points are there for rugged off-duty pursuits, like brewery beers or apple orchard strolls.

A pair of work pants in a rich earthen shade, the kind that are stylish enough to wear in your downtime and hard-wearing enough to pass muster for outdoor fall projects? Sign me up, and be sure to add this pair to your cart while they’re still up for grabs in the Huckberry Sale section, my friends.

Style Pick of the Week: Wolverine 1000 Mile Plain Toe Rugged Boots – A Superb Fall Style Move

Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots review.

It can be difficult, as we discuss often, to improve upon a classic like a pair of the best boots for men — and in my experience, the famed Wolverine 1000 Mile lineup of boots certainly fits the bill in that regard. I’ve been wearing Wolverine 1000 Mile men’s boots for more than a decade now — dating back to my college days in Michigan — and the Western Michigan brand still delivers in matters of quality, craftsmanship and superb style.

That also holds true with the new Wolverine 1000 Mile Rugged Boots, a standout fall style move that manages to improve upon a classic in a major way. Granted, the Wolverine 1000 Mile lineup of boots is already plenty tough to beat, with hard-wearing construction, classic good looks and some of the finest bootmaking processes stitched into every pair.

And yet, the Wolverine 1000 Mile Rugged Boots amp things up in a few key ways — all the better to lace up a pair with your favorite selvedge jeans or canvas work pants as you take on a fall weekend cabin getaway (to name but one seasonal pursuit). The Wolverine 1000 Mile Rugged Boots feature resoleable Goodyear welt construction for long-lasting quality and durability, and that construction is accented by a rugged, treaded Vibram outsole.

The Wolverine 1000 Mile Rugged Boots are also built with truly exceptional Horween leather from Chicago, and then handcrafted with plenty of care. It’s a difference you can feel in every pair of the Wolverine 1000 Mile Rugged Boots, at least in my experience with the brand.

And these boots, although they rest on a different outsole, still share the same pedigree and toughness that’s made the 1000 Mile line a favorite since 1914 — yes, 1914! That’s a long legacy of delivering some of the best men’s boots, my friends.

With Wolverine, and with the Wolverine 1000 Mile Rugged Boots — which should age handsomely and patina nicely with every wear — you can be absolutely sure you’re investing in quality, versatility and timeless appeal. ‘Tis the season to find your new favorite boots.

The Thursday Buy: This Buck Mason Chore Coat is a Rugged, Luxurious Outerwear Upgrade

The classics have their place in the world of menswear essentials for a reason, and when a brand comes along that can make the classics even better, it’s worth paying attention (and shopping). As you well know if you read this Brooklyn style blog, I’m a major fan of Buck Mason, Los Angeles-based purveyors of some of the best modern menswear around.

That includes everyday must-have picks like the best flannel shirt and a lineup of USA-made T-shirts, as well as more luxurious-yet-still-rugged pieces — including the new Buck Mason Sportsman Chore Coat as seen above. It’s got vintage inspiration going for it in every stitch, as it was modeled after a 1941 U.S. Marine Corps Utility Jacket. You don’t necessarily see that in your closet every single day now, do you?

Best men's chore coats for fall.

Luxurious, supple steerhide suede gives the Buck Mason Sportsman Chore Coat some distinction as far as fabrication is concerned, while front patch pockets and a fold-over collar drive home its classic chore jacket design.

The Buck Mason Sportsman Chore Coat is then finished with tasteful contrast stitching and a V-shaped front stitch detailing down the front placket, another touch of distinction that gives this jacket an air of rugged luxury (yes, there’s that word again).

The Buck Mason Sportsman Chore Coat should layer with ease over other similarly stylish fall picks, be it denim or chambray shirting or a Buck Mason long-sleeve henley. Add in expertly faded jeans from the famed Los Angeles brand, and you’ve got a seasonal #OOTD practically made for apple orchards, Oktoberfest brewery visits and plenty more.

Rugged, expertly curated style awaits when it comes to the Buck Mason Sportsman Chore Coat, my friends, so invest in the best and know that you’re getting a modern classic for the price.

See Now, Buy Now: This Mott and Bow Cashmere Sweater is a Luxe Fall Must-Have

Best cashmere sweaters for men.

It’s always a pleasure to come across what you might call a pleasant surprise in the world of menswear essentials, like the fact that a brand that makes some of your favorite jeans also makes a host of other men’s style staples to go along with ’em.

That’s where Mott and Bow enters the fray — and your wardrobe — by making not only some of my favorite jeans on the market, but one of the best cashmere sweaters for men out there. The Mott and Bow Bergen Cashmere Crew Sweater looks simple enough on the surface, but dial down more closely and realize that it’s about as luxe as it gets — and a stellar value for the price tag.

This handsome, subtly stylish cashmere crew hits all the right notes, I’ve found, in terms of stylish cashmere sweaters. In my experience, Mott and Bow men’s sweaters are soft and yet supple, yet never flimsy – they also hold their shape nicely when worn on their own, or atop an Oxford shirt (a personal favorite combination of mine).

Plus, the crewneck design of the Mott and Bow Bergen Cashmere Crew Sweater — complete with ribbed cuffs and a ribbed neckline — is versatile enough to stand up to casual looks (like a pair of Mott and Bow jeans) or more refined style moves (like stretch chinos and leather Chelsea boots).

It also comes in five easy-to-style colors, including the personal favorite Hunter Green as shown above — with Mott and Bow, you’ve certainly got options.

The Mott and Bow Bergen Cashmere Crew Sweater is also available in a nice array of well-fitted sizes — I’ve found that Mott and Bow men’s sweaters run true to size, and feature plenty of room to comfortably layer.

The mid-weight cashmere fabric is neither too thick (Read: Hot!) nor too flimsy, something else I certainly appreciate when it comes to the Mott and Bow Bergen Cashmere Crew Sweater. No matter the color you select this season, I’d wager this elegant-yet-accessible cashmere option could quickly become a new daily staple.

The Tuesday Steal: This Sleek Citizen Dress Watch is On Sale Right Now at Huckberry

Citizen men's dress watch review

As you well know if you read this Brooklyn style blog, the details surely make the difference when it comes to men’s style essentials. That goes for big-ticket items like your go-to chambray shirt or some of the best leather boots as much as it does for something like one of the best watches for men.

There’s already plenty of precision at play in the watch world, but you needn’t spend an arm and a leg to get one — just head over today to the Huckberry Sale section (while supplies last!) to find your new favorite watch from prestige watchmaker Citizen.

You see, the Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic Dress Watch blends precision and quality with high-minded, versatile style, and it’s on sale right now for about 20 percent within the always-covetable Huckberry Sale section. The famed retailer calls this timepiece a “classic, everyday watch in a versatile 40mm case width,” the sort that should wear nicely and in dressy fashion most wrists.

The real key with the Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic Dress Watch, however, lies within — that’s in addition to three stylish strap options, including the perfectly tailored gray dial option on a black leather strap (my personal favorite).

Best dress watches for men to buy now.

Yes indeed, the Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic Dress Watch features the company’s ultra-exact Citizen Caliber 8322 automatic mechanism with a 60-hour power reserve, and the watch charges up and keeps time through only the movement of your wrist — no battery needed.

It’s an impressive bit of watchmaking prowess that I appreciate, and in my experience, the Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic Dress Watch should prove crisp, dressy and seriously stylish — all at a very nice discount via the excellent Huckberry Sale section. Give it a closer look today before upgrading your wrist game with ease (again, while supplies last!).

See Now, Buy Now: These Durable Taylor Stitch Work Pants are a USA-Made Fall Staple

I often say here on this Brooklyn style blog that they don’t quite make fall menswear staples like they used to, unless one of the brands in the pursuit of excellence is a company like Taylor Stitch. And that brings us to the long-awaited return of the Taylor Stitch Good Acre Collection, a series of tough, hard-wearing and impossibly rugged USA-made workwear staples.

The fact that they arrive just in time for fall is quite the nice bonus, and it’s pieces like the Taylor Stitch Good Acre Chore Pants that are going to bolster your fall workwear wardrobe quite nicely indeed. Let’s count the ways, shall we?

The San Francisco company, one of my very favorite menswear brands on the market, debuted the Good Acre Collection more than a decade ago with an intense focus on the best workwear on the market. Now, the collection returns in full force with California-produced work staples fit for any fall adventure.

As Taylor Stitch notes, “these pieces are built to stand up to any task and get better with each wear,” and the key really lies in the use of USA-made canvas from Mt. Vernon Mills. That gives the Taylor Stitch Good Acre Chore Pants a burly, tough and yet supple edge. 12oz. duck canvas, designed to stand up to abrasions, wind, rain and debris, is then given a classic medium rise for mobility, plus a tailored (yet not overly tight) fit.

Features like angled hip pockets offer easy access to your everyday carry essentials, while those pockets are also bar-tacked for added durability. Double-reinforced knees are yet another distinctly tough detail, while the Taylor Stitch Good Acre Chore Pants even boast a pen sleeve for added utility.

If it seems like Taylor Stitch thought of everything with these pants, it’s because, well, they almost certainly did.

The Taylor Stitch Good Acre Chore Pants are also a winner in matters of looks as well as utility. They’re an ideal pairing with a Taylor Stitch organic cotton henley, for instance, and they also serve as a more hard-wearing pair of true work pants when you want to trade in your Taylor Stitch selvedge jeans. And judging by the photo above, these handsome, durable work pants are in it for the long haul — for this decade and the next.

The Sunday Sale: These Handcrafted Yuketen Shoes are a Rugged Fall Favorite (At a Discount from Huckberry)

As I assemble my wardrobe of the best fall style essentials (often from a retailer like Huckberry, of course), I tend to look for unexpected picks that riff on old favorites. For instance, take the Yuketen Italian Blucher Loafers as shown above.

They do indeed riff on an old favorite, the loafer, while retaining some of the same qualities as the three-eye moc toe boot or chukka. What’s better is they happen to be on sale via the Huckberry Sale section, for a tidy 30 percent discount, but let’s keep on taking a closer look, shall we?

They contain multitudes, as the Yuketen Italian Blucher Loafers just might have more in common with a loafer or the traditional blucher dress shoe, including an ankle-length height and a lower profile. But look again and that moc-toe stitching stands out handsomely — fall footwear favorites, indeed.

Best men's footwear for fall.

That sort of versatility, combined with a rugged look and feel from the classic Northeast footwear maker, puts these hybrid shoes into a unique category: Heritage footwear with a mix of modern and old-school appeal.

The full leather insole shapes to your foot over time, a nice handcrafted touch, while the tassle detailing adds some old-school appeal. The rich leather will patina handsomely over time, and the camp sole is another personal favorite in terms of comfort and distinctive looks. If you want shoes that can stand up to thicker fall fabrics and textures, the Yuketen Italian Blucher Loafers could be a wise move, my friends.

And for moccasins that call to mind the 1950s and ’60s, there’s still an instant appeal in terms of casual style. Of course, it certainly doesn’t hurt that the Yuketen Italian Blucher Loafers are now 30 percent off via our friends at Huckberry. Fall fashion just got even cooler, my friends.

To me, that means the Yuketen Italian Blucher Loafers wear as well with cozy corduroy pants and a chambray shirt as they do with trusty indigo blue jeans and your favorite henley – they’re chunky enough to stand up to more rugged silhouettes, and unlike some slipper-esque loafers, they’re certainly stylish enough to serve as both house shoes and daily footwear.

Style Pick of the Week: Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt – A New Fall Style Staple

Flint and Tinder men's shirt review.

In my humble opinion, the best menswear staples are sometimes the ones you don’t have to think too hard about — the kind of pieces that look great just about anywhere, while serving as a versatile wardrobe backbone. And one of the best men’s shirts qualifies, especially if it hails from the new Flint and Tinder Fall Collection as designed, stocked and sold by my friends at Huckberry.

Simplicity certainly makes the difference, and what might look subtle on the surface can actually end up being a heroic, useful style move — like the Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt, for one. It’s today’s Style Pick for a reason, with plentiful wearability and some small yet much-appreciated features that elevate it from the typical buttondown shirt.

Best men's buttondown shirts for fall.

The Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt checks off all the proper boxes when it comes to an everyday buttondown: It boasts classic Oxford shirt construction, right down to the buttondown collar and chest pocket. Those details mean you can wear it untucked with mid-wash blue jeans or tucked in alongside, say, the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants and your favorite pair of leather boots at the office.

But your new favorite buttondown shirt also has some points of distinction going for it, starting with the use of hearty Donegal fabric with a textured look and feel. That fabric also gives the Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt more wearability in the colder months of fall and winter — your average linen buttondown shirt for summer, this is not.

It’s even reinforced with elbow patches for a workwear-inspired touch, and a bi-swing fit in the back provides greater ease of movement, whether at the drafting table or the coffee shop. Available in four crisp, stylish Donegal fabric colors, the handsome Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt is ready to step in at a moment’s notice this fall, whether worn on its own or layered underneath one of the best fall cardigans.

That’s how I’d wear it, and if you feel the same, drop me a line in the comments below. Happy shopping and we’ll See You Out There, my friends.

The Friday Read: Trekking to Wisconsin for The Macallan Experience

Welcome once again to another edition of the Friday Read, which once again sees me hitting the road in fine fashion as part of my many freelance writing pursuits. This weekend in particular is quite the special one, as it blends two of my favorite things: The fall beauty of the Midwest (in this case, lovely Kohler, Wisconsin, courtesy of Kohler, Wisconsin), plus some of the finest Scotch on the planet.

That list of my favorite things also includes some of the most rugged menswear on the market, which I’ll be bringing with me as I trek back to the Midwest (my Blundstone boots are a press trip staple, after all).

It’s a fitting trip, one I’ve been looking forward to for some time. After all, I’m lucky enough to be able to write about The Macallan Scotch at sites like Maxim.com, and this weekend’s The Macallan Experience puts it all in perspective in a way that only a fine luxury Scotch maker can do.

The weekend includes accommodations at the luxurious American Club Resort, as well as the chance to indulge in some of the finer things in life.

Chief among them? An exclusive Scotch tasting, plus the chance to experience the great outdoors via a morning fly fishing experience. Sign me up and deal me in, as the heritage of fly fishing and Scotch runs deep (after all, The Macallan works to protect The River Spey on its hallowed estate).

Across the past few years, I’ve been privileged enough to immerse myself in the world of luxury Scotch and travel, and this weekend’s latest adventure is a fitting “Venn diagram,” a meeting in the middle of two of my very favorite things. For now, follow along on my Instagram as I taste some of the best Macallan Scotch on the market, and stay tuned for updates on my travels. Cheers!

The Thursday Buy: This Mack Weldon Blazer is an Easygoing-Yet-Sharp Everyday Upgrade

Best fall blazer for men.

The idea of dressing sharp on the daily — or at least, for occasions that truly require it, like the office — needn’t be too stuffy or confusing. At least, that’s in my personal experience, and that’s what I’ve found when it comes to opting for dressy staples in better, more comfortable fabrics — like the kind being made by Mack Weldon, purveyors of performance menswear with a stylish everyday twist.

I’m a longtime fan of the company, which just so happens to be known for everything from some of the best men’s boxer briefs to stylish swim trunks and crisp seasonal shirting. And speaking of crisp, well, the new Mack Weldon Ace Blazer is both sharp in looks and yet ultra-comfortable in form and function.

Could the Mack Weldon Ace Blazer be your new favorite fall blazer? In my experience, that answer is a resounding yes, so be on the lookout for a pre-order (or restock!) option ASAP.

On the surface, the Mack Weldon Ace Blazer looks like any other blazer, albeit a sharp one fit for wearing with a performance dress shirt or an Oxford shirt at the office, on a date night or out to a seasonally friendly cocktail party. But look closer, and one of the best blazers for men has all the specs to provide comfort and cool from 9-to-5 and beyond.

The Mack Weldon Ace Blazer features micro-brushed French Terry fabric, not unlike the brand’s famed hoodies and sweats, and it’s also machine-washable. With poplin-lined patch pockets for comfort, it’s unlike wearing any other blazer you’ve tried in the past — and that’s certainly saying something.

The unlined construction also helps with its easygoing-yet-polished feel, the kind that works as well over a cotton T-shirt or a henley as it does with your favorite chambray shirt. This blazer holds true to the brand’s focus on “elevated comfort,” and in my book — for affairs both dressy and casual — it doesn’t get much better than that.
