Style Pick of the Week: Bridge & Burn Sutton Shirt

The soft, easy-to-layer shirt you didn’t know about just yet.

The search for the perfect summer shirt can be surprisingly tricky. It’s a crowded market out there, and a stylish casual shirt has to check a few boxes — particularly if you’re going to be wearing said shirt on its own, using it as a stylish overshirt atop a slub tee, or layering it underneath rugged denim jacket on a cool summer night (Editor’s note: I like this stylish white T-shirt when it comes to summer layering). The Friday Read: Duke Cannon, Summer Style Essentials and New Denim from Taylor Stitch

Folks, how was your Fourth of July?? I hope it was filled with plenty of fun, relaxation, some summer style essentials for the holiday … and, yes a cold brew and a tasty hot dog or burger (or two or three!) on the grill. I’ve actually  been  on vacation myself in the rolling countryside of Zeeland (Michigan!) these past few days celebrating the holiday with my whole family — my brother, his wife and four children, and my mom and dad. I truly can’t wait! It’s been a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of NYC, but I’ve still found the time to unplug, kick back and dress in style (check out my Instagram for more there). I hope you have, too. On another note, we’re also going to ensure your weekend starts off the right way, including recommendations for grooming essentials and stylish new denim aplenty.   • Perhaps you, like me, are constantly in search of a grooming refresh. If that’s the case, I can’t recommend the work being done by Duke Cannon enough. #OOTD: Wear This Rugged Gear to Layer Up for a Summer Camping Trip

Our #OOTD series here at the old Style Guide tends to cover a bevy of summer style essentials that are a bit more refined in nature. As in, not exactly the type of gear you’d wear to scale a mountain. We’re changing that approach ever so slightly in today’s #OOTD, as we tell ya just what to wear on a summer camping trip. It’s a rainy Thursday evening in New York as I sit down to type this post, but luckily, I’ve got plenty of memories of a sunny, amazing Florida trip to look back on this past weekend (if you follow me on Instagram, you’re well aware of the trip!). At any rate, it’s nice to be closing out a long work week on the fashion PR grind. That brings me quite nicely to my next point — with the Fourth of July falling in the middle of next week, it’s high time you loaded up on summer style essentials for the holiday. To help with that quest, I compiled the best deals from Huckberry this week, from camping gear to new menswear. They won’t last long — count on it. #OOTD: How to Dress for the Fourth of July This Year

Gentlemen (and ladies), let’s get ready for the Fourth of July — we’re letting the figurative menswear fireworks fly today, so to speak. If that strikes you as an odd proposition, what with the Fourth of July being so casual, bear with me for a moment. Just like dressing for a casual summer Friday or upgrading your weekend style, stepping out for a scenario like the Fourth of July calls for paying a bit more attention than usual to your outfit. That extra attention to detail definitely pays off, because it pays to look your best, always … even if your friends or family are taking it easy. Make no mistake, I’m not talking something way over-the-top — no, sir. Today’s #OOTD starts with a military-inspired jacket, features a mighty fine pair of slim grey chinos from Taylor Stitch, and finishes with classic brown leather sneakers — see, there’s nothing overly fancy about that.
