Style Pick of the Week: Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt – A New Fall Style Staple

Flint and Tinder men's shirt review.

In my humble opinion, the best menswear staples are sometimes the ones you don’t have to think too hard about — the kind of pieces that look great just about anywhere, while serving as a versatile wardrobe backbone. And one of the best men’s shirts qualifies, especially if it hails from the new Flint and Tinder Fall Collection as designed, stocked and sold by my friends at Huckberry.

Simplicity certainly makes the difference, and what might look subtle on the surface can actually end up being a heroic, useful style move — like the Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt, for one. It’s today’s Style Pick for a reason, with plentiful wearability and some small yet much-appreciated features that elevate it from the typical buttondown shirt.

Best men's buttondown shirts for fall.

The Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt checks off all the proper boxes when it comes to an everyday buttondown: It boasts classic Oxford shirt construction, right down to the buttondown collar and chest pocket. Those details mean you can wear it untucked with mid-wash blue jeans or tucked in alongside, say, the Flint and Tinder 365 Pants and your favorite pair of leather boots at the office.

But your new favorite buttondown shirt also has some points of distinction going for it, starting with the use of hearty Donegal fabric with a textured look and feel. That fabric also gives the Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt more wearability in the colder months of fall and winter — your average linen buttondown shirt for summer, this is not.

It’s even reinforced with elbow patches for a workwear-inspired touch, and a bi-swing fit in the back provides greater ease of movement, whether at the drafting table or the coffee shop. Available in four crisp, stylish Donegal fabric colors, the handsome Flint and Tinder Architect Shirt is ready to step in at a moment’s notice this fall, whether worn on its own or layered underneath one of the best fall cardigans.

That’s how I’d wear it, and if you feel the same, drop me a line in the comments below. Happy shopping and we’ll See You Out There, my friends.

The Friday Read: Trekking to Wisconsin for The Macallan Experience

Welcome once again to another edition of the Friday Read, which once again sees me hitting the road in fine fashion as part of my many freelance writing pursuits. This weekend in particular is quite the special one, as it blends two of my favorite things: The fall beauty of the Midwest (in this case, lovely Kohler, Wisconsin, courtesy of Kohler, Wisconsin), plus some of the finest Scotch on the planet.

That list of my favorite things also includes some of the most rugged menswear on the market, which I’ll be bringing with me as I trek back to the Midwest (my Blundstone boots are a press trip staple, after all).

It’s a fitting trip, one I’ve been looking forward to for some time. After all, I’m lucky enough to be able to write about The Macallan Scotch at sites like Maxim.com, and this weekend’s The Macallan Experience puts it all in perspective in a way that only a fine luxury Scotch maker can do.

The weekend includes accommodations at the luxurious American Club Resort, as well as the chance to indulge in some of the finer things in life.

Chief among them? An exclusive Scotch tasting, plus the chance to experience the great outdoors via a morning fly fishing experience. Sign me up and deal me in, as the heritage of fly fishing and Scotch runs deep (after all, The Macallan works to protect The River Spey on its hallowed estate).

Across the past few years, I’ve been privileged enough to immerse myself in the world of luxury Scotch and travel, and this weekend’s latest adventure is a fitting “Venn diagram,” a meeting in the middle of two of my very favorite things. For now, follow along on my Instagram as I taste some of the best Macallan Scotch on the market, and stay tuned for updates on my travels. Cheers!

The Thursday Buy: This Mack Weldon Blazer is an Easygoing-Yet-Sharp Everyday Upgrade

Best fall blazer for men.

The idea of dressing sharp on the daily — or at least, for occasions that truly require it, like the office — needn’t be too stuffy or confusing. At least, that’s in my personal experience, and that’s what I’ve found when it comes to opting for dressy staples in better, more comfortable fabrics — like the kind being made by Mack Weldon, purveyors of performance menswear with a stylish everyday twist.

I’m a longtime fan of the company, which just so happens to be known for everything from some of the best men’s boxer briefs to stylish swim trunks and crisp seasonal shirting. And speaking of crisp, well, the new Mack Weldon Ace Blazer is both sharp in looks and yet ultra-comfortable in form and function.

Could the Mack Weldon Ace Blazer be your new favorite fall blazer? In my experience, that answer is a resounding yes, so be on the lookout for a pre-order (or restock!) option ASAP.

On the surface, the Mack Weldon Ace Blazer looks like any other blazer, albeit a sharp one fit for wearing with a performance dress shirt or an Oxford shirt at the office, on a date night or out to a seasonally friendly cocktail party. But look closer, and one of the best blazers for men has all the specs to provide comfort and cool from 9-to-5 and beyond.

The Mack Weldon Ace Blazer features micro-brushed French Terry fabric, not unlike the brand’s famed hoodies and sweats, and it’s also machine-washable. With poplin-lined patch pockets for comfort, it’s unlike wearing any other blazer you’ve tried in the past — and that’s certainly saying something.

The unlined construction also helps with its easygoing-yet-polished feel, the kind that works as well over a cotton T-shirt or a henley as it does with your favorite chambray shirt. This blazer holds true to the brand’s focus on “elevated comfort,” and in my book — for affairs both dressy and casual — it doesn’t get much better than that.

See Now, Buy Now: This New Buck Mason Flannel Shirt is a Perfect Seasonal Layer to Buy Right Now

Buck Mason men's flannel shirt review.

You could make the case, as I have over the years on this Brooklyn style blog, that there’s not a better season for menswear than fall. From dependable layers a classic thermal henley or a chambray shirt to the opportunity to style your favorite waxed trucker jacket — all with a crisp breeze in the air and a fresh Oktoberfest beer close at hand — it simply doesn’t get any better.

Of course, Buck Mason knows the charms of the season all too well. This approach certainly holds true with the upcoming release of the Buck Mason Craftsman Flannel, a durable workshirt made for just about anything this autumn.

The California-based brand is on a mission to take over your wardrobe, from accessories to knitwear and beyond. On that note, you’ve likely perused the new Buck Mason Italian-made eyewear collection, but consider this flannel shirt a more rugged style upgrade for the season ahead.

The Buck Mason Craftsman Flannel, available now for pre-order, is made from a durable, pre-washed 8oz. cotton flannel for maximum utility. It’s then finished with front-button chest pockets to store your everyday carry essentials, among other highly useful details. The rich Sequoia Plaid color is also a timeless detail, while this shirt itself should prove ultra-soft right out of the box.

Your new favorite flannel shirt is billed as a “midcentury-style work shirt cut for cold weather,” and it certainly looks to live up to that pedigree. For now, the Buck Mason Craftsman Flannel is only available for pre-order, but head to Buck Mason ASAP, request your size and sign up for alerts from the brand.

When it hits shelves, you’ll be the first to know, and your fall wardrobe will be all the better for it. Cheers to the season ahead, my friends.

See Now, Buy Now: This Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel Is a Perfect Essential for Fall

Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel

When opportunity arises to dress in fine fall fashion with some of the best new menswear, I’d urge you to jump on it ASAP. That’s certainly the case with today’s featured style selection, one that hails from Huckberry and famed in-house brand Flint and Tinder.

You see, the Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel lives up to its name and then some, joining a rotation of some of the most rugged menswear around (and that’s really saying something when it comes to Huckberry). It’s about as versatile a flannel shirt as it gets, with the ability to function handsomely as a rugged shirt jacket, as a mid-layer beneath a field jacket, or as a stylish flannel shirt you can rock all on its own.

A selection of rich plaid colors bolster its wearability all through the fall season, especially when it comes to, well, cabin weekend getaways and the like. Again, the Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel lives up to its name, particularly with its rugged build and seasonally friendly style and performance.

Corozo nut buttons and chest patch pockets are standout details that should prove especially handy when wearing this stylish flannel as a true shirt jacket, something I’d certainly recommend.

When it comes to appealing fall style and timeless durability, plus plain old-fashioned good looks, the Flint and Tinder Cabin Flannel hits the mark in every way possible. Don’t trek upstate without it in your weekender bag, my friends.

The Sunday Sale: Lace Up these Rugged, Discounted Forsake Boots for Fall from Bespoke Post

Forsake men's boots review.

When fall weather rolls into town, the details make the difference — and there’s no more clear, or better, way to take on the season than with some of the most rugged boots for men. Where can those boots be found?

Within the stylish digital confines of Bespoke Post, of course, a standout source for some of the best fall menswear, from flannel shirts to cozy sweaters to expertly faded jeans and yes, the Forsake Whitetail Mid Waterproof Boots.

Better still today is the fact that these boots just so happen to be 25 percent off via the Bespoke Post Sale section, and that’s the sort of savings I personally find tough to pass up. As one might expect, the Forsake Whitetail Mid Waterproof Boots have all the specs you need to go off-trail and off-grid this fall season (and beyond), including a durable waterproof membrane for the ultimate in seasonal performance.

The Forsake Whitetail Mid Waterproof Boots also boast taped seams and a front construction not unlike that of a classic, hard-wearing pair of “duck boots,” yet more streamlined. Thinsulate insulation makes the Forsake Whitetail Mid Waterproof Boots a wise choice in brisk weather, and the company even outfitted these boots with Bloom Rebound technology for plenty of support and a springy, smooth ride underfoot.

It doesn’t hurt that these hiking boots are surprisingly stylish on their own, with contrasting leather and suede that doesn’t look out of place with jeans or canvas work pants as you unwind with a post-hike brewery beer.

And right now, the Chocolate edition (my personal favorite) of the Forsake Whitetail Mid Waterproof Boots are 25 percent off via Bespoke Post — that’s not a moment too soon as we roll into prime autumn weather, my friends.

Style Pick of the Week: Wolverine x Old Rip Van Winkle 1000 Mile Boots – A New Must-Have Pair of Boots for Fall

Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots review.

Whenever I come across a standout pair of rugged leather boots, I tend to pay close attention — and few pairs of boots catch my eye quite like those that hail from Michigan’s own Wolverine, a famed work boot company with a penchant for performance, durability and handsome appeal.

Yes indeed, they make some of the best boots for men on the market, and the new Wolverine x Old Rip Van Winkle 1000 Mile Boots live up to that pedigree quite nicely. These stylish wedge sole men’s boots mark the fourth collaboration between the iconic bourbon company and the famed bootmaker, and they’ve got all the hallmarks of your new favorite pair of boots.

Wolverine x Old Rip Van Winkle boots.

As the company notes, the Wolverine x Old Rip Van Winkle 1000 Mile Boots were “inspired by the rich caramel and wood notes of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year,” with rugged good looks and style points to match.

This particular pair builds off the famed 1000 Mile silhouette, and uses luxe leather in a distinctly bourbon-esque shade. Of course, the brand notes that they’ll “develop a patina and a
unique character with time,” and that makes them more than worth the surprisingly agreeable $249 price tag.

A hand-numbered, woven label on the tongue sets apart each pair of the Wolverine x Old Rip Van Winkle 1000 Mile Boots, which are also finished off with vintage-inspired hardware and contrast stitching for plenty of style points.

As with other pairs of my favorite Wolverine leather boots, the Wolverine x Old Rip Van Winkle 1000 Mile Boots team stylishly with your go-to, expertly faded blue jeans or with tobacco-hued stretch chinos, for instance.

And just like legendary Pappy Van Winkle bourbon, the Wolverine x Old Rip Van Winkle 1000 Mile Boots are built to stand the test of time — do yourself a favor and join me in securing your set of these must-have men’s boots for fall, my friends.

The Friday Read: Fall Menswear from Bespoke Post & New Marshall Headphones for Everyday Style

Bespoke Post fall menswear.

There’s no time like the present to embrace the charms of the fall season, particularly when it comes to the best fall menswear, yes? That’s a main focus around these parts when it comes to today’s edition of the Friday Read, where we’ll touch on a few crucial components of autumn to get your weekend started off on the right foot.

For one, you’d do well to head over to Bespoke Post, where you can certainly find some of the best gear for fall across the board. That goes for everyday carry essentials, rich-smelling fall candles, expertly crated leather boots, stylish men’s jeans and of course, a fresh new selection of the best fall menswear from in-house brand Wren.

The new Wren Apparel line from Bespoke Post is a thing of beauty, with a full selection of carefully curated, effortlessly cool and highly durable, rugged fall selections for guys like yourself. The company says the offering hits the mark in terms of “clothes designed to thrive outside” — much like the 2024 edition of the Bespoke Post x Schott NYC Leather Jacket we’ve previously talked about here on the blog.

From cozy sherpa-lined shirt jackets to durable puffer jackets, easygoing flannel shirts and hard-wearing camp gear for your next weekend off the grid, the new Wren Apparel line from Bespoke Post hits the mark in every way possible. At least, that’s one take from yours truly as we head into the weekend.

In addition to that enviable selection of versatile, hard-working fall menswear from Bespoke Post, allow me to make one more recommendation to carry you into the next couple days. For crystal-clear, hard-rocking sound quality, consider a new pair of Marshall headphones — perhaps one designed in tandem with legendary rock n’roll frontman Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day.

I covered the new launch over at Maxim, and the brand remains among my favorites when I want some of the most exceptional sound quality out there. So, between a stylish selection of seasonal menswear and some fresh new headphones, I’d say you’ve got your work cut out for you — in the best way possible — this weekend. Stay tuned for a duo of fall menswear posts over the next two days, and we’ll see out there — thanks, as always, for reading!
