The Sunday Sale: Take 30 Percent Off Sitewide Right Now at Bonobos

Bonobos menswear review 2025.

How do you prefer to curate your rotation of summer style essentials? Do you shop as you go throughout the season, securing picks when and where you need ’em — from swimwear to shirting to summer suiting? Or do you plan far in advance, stocking up ahead of the season and then mixing and matching your favorite selections in one perfect ensemble?

When the calendar calls for everything from coastal getaways to summer weddings to laidback BBQs, it’s perhaps best to do a little bit of both — that’s where my friends at Bonobos make a major difference in my wardrobe, in your wardrobe and in the summer style rotation of casually cool guys everywhere.

And if you’re the type of guy to leap into a menswear sale at the spur of the moment, shopping and planning and saving as you go, then it’s your lucky weekend: Bonobos, purveyors of some of the best pants for men and the best everyday shirting, are offering 30 percent off sitewide (or at least, they were as of the time of this writing!).

You’ve got that right: 30 percent off sitewide, with some exclusions, but with a host of enviable, accessible and versatile men’s style gear up for grabs via the venerable New York City retailer. The selection is wide-ranging and impossibly stylish, from linen shirts and perfectly textured shorts to knit polos, soft-shouldered blazers, expertly cut trousers and even ultra-soft cotton tees.

In my experience, Bonobos makes it fun to get dressed in the warmer months, with performance features adorning menswear that’s the perfect mix of refined and easygoing, including buttondown shirting and stylish shorts aplenty.

There’s also a series of sweater polos you can dress up or dress down, not to mention casual stretch blue jeans (in case you, like me, can’t get enough of your favorite pair of denim), and tailored separates, performance pieces in stretch fabric, and casually cool chinos and five-pocket pants.

You might say the fast-moving Bonobos Sitewide Sale — which, again, is offering 30 percent off most everything — is too good to be true. That’s why I’d act as quickly as possible to score your new favorite style essentials for the days and weeks ahead.

The Friday Read: The Best Sale to Shop Besides Prime Day & Summer Weekend Menswear Recommendations

Flint and Tinder menswear review 2025.

My friends, welcome back to your weekly (or near-weekly!) Friday Read dispatch, where we take stock of the world of menswear and a dash of, well, everything — from your bar cart to your wrist game and the footwear in your rotation, all via way of a few choice reading and shopping selections.

Each of those summer style essentials has been top of mind lately, as my #FreelanceLife pursuits keep me plenty busy, as you might have seen on my Instagram these past few weeks indeed. First, I hopped across the pond to tour Amsterdam with Heineken and then spent the better part of 10 days in vibrant, energetic Sao Paolo into Fourth of July weekend.

As I jet across the globe and get the chance to cover everything from fine tequila in Mexico to the best bourbon in Kentucky and the coolest watches and gear on the market — to name but a few pursuits — for sites like Maxim (along with this blog!), I often think about the idea of buying less, but buying better in building out an entire menswear wardrobe.

If you’re here reading this, perhaps you feel much the same way, and perhaps you also opt for classic-meets-modern retailers like Huckberry (more on them in just a moment).

And that’s why when something like the frenzy that is Amazon Prime Day comes around, I often tend to sit out the madness — how about you?

Instead, I try to opt for sale selections from the best menswear retailers, ones that I know well, use often, love and trust.

It’s a lofty order, to be sure, but as we looked at with the very best Fourth of July sales last week, there are remarkable deals to be had out there from fan-favorite designers across the board, be it some of the best sunglasses under $50 from Huckberry or a fresh new Buck Mason polo.

Those are just two selections designed with style and value in mind, along with better-for-the-planet materials and durability. Of course, I’ve also written lately about ways to save even more on designer menswear at Billy Reid, not to mention a host of the best discounts on summer gear from the likes of — you guessed it! — Huckberry.

The point is this: Whether you opt to shop a retailer like Huckberry or if you go the stylish small business route from another fan favorite like Bespoke Post, there are options aplenty if you seek alternatives to Amazon Prime Day — from apparel to footwear, outdoor gear, everyday carry essentials and more.

That’s what I’ll be thinking about this weekend as I kick back with a cold, crisp summer brew while wearing some of my favorite seasonal menswear. Of course, two weekend style dispatches are headed your way in the meantime. Here’s to shopping and saving the right way, and here’s to July in New York City and far beyond.

The Thursday Buy: This Buck Mason Free Flows Linen Polo is a Refined Summer Classic for the Season’s Heat

Best polo for men this summer.

There comes a time every summer — particularly right now, as the thermostat climbs without end in sight — where a guy needs to find the right balance between staying ultra-cool and looking, well, ultra-cool. How to dress stylishly in the heat is a main concern in my neck of the woods, especially if everything from rooftop happy hours to coastal getaways remains on your calendar in the weeks ahead.

One of the best men’s polos can help nail the delicate balance between comfort, style and crisp looks — make it a breezy, fashionable polo from the classic menswear purveyors at Buck Mason, and you’ve got yourself a winning upgrade as far as the best summer style essentials are concerned.

In fact, I’d go so far as to say the Buck Mason Free Flows Linen Polo takes an already-versatile silhouette and makes it even more wearable for the days and weeks ahead. It’s part of the new Buck Mason Free Flows Collection, an assortment of the best lightweight menswear that blends effortless cool, dependable good looks and breezy, textured fabric across the board.

And while the brand also excels at rugged menswear like one of the best Western shirts, the Buck Mason Free Flows Linen Polo is a touch more refined and plenty easy to style with linen trousers, soft-shouldered summer suiting and the brand’s utterly classic chinos.

There’s an air of retro cool to the Buck Mason Free Flows Linen Polo, which is billed by the iconic modern American brand as a “fully fashioned slim fit polo made from an airy blend of textured Italian cotton and linen,” (the blend is 70 percent seeded cotton and 30 percent linen, for the record). It forgoes a traditional button placket in favor of an on-trend yet timeless open V-collar, while the handsome Buck Mason Free Flows Linen Polo features a chest pocket for some added visual appeal, plus ribbed cuffs at the sleeves and bottom hem — not unlike one of the best sweater polos on the market.

The colorway of the Buck Mason Free Flows Linen Polo is crisp and classic, with a Natural shade that pairs well with everything in your wardrobe, from rolled light wash denim to olive chinos, tobacco-hued linen trousers, even grey or navy utility shorts.

The even better news? You can score all of these casually cool menswear essentials from Buck Mason alongside the elegant, rakish Buck Mason Free Flows Linen Polo. Your summer deserves a lightweight upgrade, and the accessible, retro-inspired Buck Mason Free Flows Linen Polo is the right way to go this season.

The Tuesday Steal: You Can Still Save as Much as 55 Percent Off Right Now at Billy Reid

It’s been a key topic of conversation here on this Brooklyn menswear blog these past few days, and the past few weeks: How to make the most of summer in style, rocking clothes you love to wear, all the while saving a few bucks (when possible), in the process… and I’m here to help, my friends.

We talked just last week about the best menswear sales for the Fourth of July, and there are still a few last gasps, so to speak, in the world of men’s style essentials. Take the tail end of the Billy Reid Fourth of July Sale, for instance.

It makes perfect sense that the all-American designer — best known for taking rugged classics like the denim shirt or the peacoat and giving them a refined facelift — would extend a standout summer sale ever so slightly.

After all, nobody does casual elegance with a dash of refinement quite like Billy Reid, a brand that’s as suited for a summer wedding as a BBQ (particularly knowing you can wear the same stylish linen shirt to each affair).

And for now, you can retool your menswear rotation for the next leg of summer in fine form: Through the end of the day today via the Billy Reid Fourth of July Sale, you’re saving 30 percent on select styles, plus an additional 25 percent off sale styles: That’s good for as much as 55 percent off the best Billy Reid menswear when you use the code EXTRA25.

Variety aplenty awaits you in the last few hours of the stellar Billy Reid Fourth of July Sale, whether you’re searching for a perfectly casual pullover hoodie for the beach or a striped polo for another upcoming coastal getaway.

Expert fabrication and effortless style is the name of the game with Billy Reid — although these clothes are polished and crisply designed, I’ve found Billy Reid menswear to be outrageously comfortable and breezy, from patterned shirts to chino shorts and trucker jackets (yes, your favorite menswear brand does all of that, and then some).

For a limited time (a very, very limited time), find your new favorite summer #OOTD — or at least a few pieces that can go into crafting the perfect ensemble — via the fast-moving Billy Reid Fourth of July Sale. Summer style and savings in one go are yours for the taking.

The Friday Read: Rugged Summer Gear from Filson, Buck Mason x J. Press & A Paris Olympics Watch

Filson summer menswear review.

Just as we roll into another July weekend, perhaps you’re feeling as if your summer menswear and gear could use a bit of a refresh, or just a few more selections to help you get over the hemp. This Friday, and many other days here on the blog, I recommend diving into Filson menswear, which runs the gamut — from the road to the river and back. In my personal experience, they’re a brand that always delivers, be it rugged good looks, standout performance in any season, or a mix of the two.

Be it quick-drying swim trunks, carefully crafted T-shirts, some of the best lightweight buttondown shirts or the very best waxed canvas bags on the market, Filson is a nearly indispensable part of my summer wardrobe — I’d imagine you feel the same way.

If not, consider this a friendly summer weekend reminder, especially as things continue to heat up out there. And for more Filson reviews on this blog, click that link. Now, onward to business — what’s still left on your summer reading and shopping list?

I’ve recently been sent an exciting read I’m looking forward to checking out, the classic tome “A Really Big Lunch,” by legendary Michigan writer Jim Harrison. In fact, my newfound writer pal and fellow Michigander Matt Medendorp sent this volume my way.

It’s an iconic book that’s long been on my list, and t should prove an apt read to while away hot summer days in Brooklyn (cold beer not far out of reach, of course). Have you had the chance to check out that title? I’ll deliver my own review once I’ve pored through its pages!

For a few more summer recommendations to guide your own weekend, keep on scrolling through below, my friends. Cheers!

  • Out of all of my favorite menswear brands, Buck Mason delivers some of the most consistent surprises, or pleasant surprises rather, while staying in its lane as a purveyor of modern-meets-classic, Americana style. What do I mean by this? Well, expertly crafted Oxford shirts, the best blue jeans and perfectly cut T-shirts do the trick. And you can find all of this close at hand in the new Buck Mason x J. Press menswear collection, a retro-meets-21st-century offering showcasing what both brands do best. Read about it more via my latest for Maxim.com.
  • Here’s something a tad more illustrious and luxurious than just one of the best Oxford shirts, and it’s got some flair going for it ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, too. Omega, the official watch brand of James Bond and the Official Timekeeper of the Olympics (since 1932, no less!) just debuted a stunning Paris 2024 special-edition watch, and it’s a stunner made from Bronze Gold alloy. Read all about it via another feature from yours truly at Maxim.com.
  • Let’s go from talking about classic menswear and luxury watches to some “news you can use” right away, so to speak, via the good folks at Huckberry. The lineup of Wellen menswear at Huckberry already focuses on sustainability and style, and it gets a revamp here with a new lineup of Wellen performance gear you can wear, well, just about anywhere. And accordingly, I wrote about possibly your new favorite daily T-shirt over on the blog earlier this week — give it a look, my friends.

That’ll wrap up today’s Friday Read quite nicely indeed, if I do say so myself. To follow along with my weekend adventures in Brooklyn, be sure to give me a follow on Instagram. And to keep up with more stylish menswear for summer, tune in tomorrow and Sunday for a duo of featured weekend men’s style picks. Cheers and thanks, as always, for reading!

The Friday Read: A Summer Weekend in Scranton & the Best Summer Style Essentials

Relwen summer menswear 2024.

Summer is about as prime a time as any to flex one’s muscle in terms of sartorial sensibility — yes, that holds true even as the thermostat climbs. In fact, beating the heat in style, whether at the beach or a backyard BBQ, is easier to do than one might think, especially if you shop summer style essentials from, say, Relwen.

The Ohio-based brand has been a longtime favorite of mine, with an eye for taking classic menswear moves — like the Oxford shirt, the chino or the polo — then refreshing them with a touch of the modern.

The Huckberry-approved brand is on my mind this weekend, particularly its artful mix of breezy, stylish pieces fit for summer’s heat — in fact, there’s an entirely new set of Relwen menswear essentials online at the famed retailer, and not a moment too soon through another summer heat wave.

Staying cool in the heat is top of mind in my neck of the woods, which actually looks a little different these next couple days — I’ll be trekking down to Scranton, Pennsylvania (yes, the home of the acclaimed series “The Office”) with my blonde-haired sweetheart Mary for a family weekend of summer fun in the sun.

Of course, I’m bringing my Buck Mason swim trunks and some Huckberry swim shorts for the occasion, and plenty of cold beer and delights from the grill are on tap. What’s on tap for you this weekend? We’ll have a duo of posts covering summer style must-haves, of course, so be sure to swing on by accordingly. Cheers and here’s to the weekend, my friends!

The Friday Read: Huckberry’s Summer Style Essentials, Future Islands & Omega x SWATCH

When a summer weekend approaches, one that rings in the very first *official* weekend of summer, no less, I know where I head for the best summer style essentials — and perhaps you do, too. From ripstop shorts to rugged T-shirts, from super-soft polos to linen trousers, from leather loafers to hard-wearing canvas sneakers, the place to go — in case you needed a reminder — is Huckberry.

I’ve found that it truly is a one-stop shop in my experience, with the goods and gear to get you from point A to point B in style. And that’s just a fact (not a sponsored post). They’re a brand I’ve trusted myself for years, and as a heat wave rolls into town, there’s never been a better time to stock up on some of the best menswear around — at least, that’s my personal opinion.

Huckberry gear is never far out of my rotation, be a hike out to Brooklyn’s Marine Park (as you might have seen on my Instagram) or a truly stunning show by one of my favorite bands, Future Islands.

The Baltimore synth pop heroes — a group I’ve covered via my freelance music writing pursuits at Atwood Magazine — recently put out a career-best album, People Who Aren’t There Anymore, and the show delivered electric emotion and passion in every respect.

Of course, I had to wear some stylish Flint and Tinder jeans and my trusty Huckberry chukka boots for the occasion — keeping up with the energetic moves of frontman Sam Herring (alongside my blonde-haired sweetheart Mary!) is no easy feat!

The evening proved everything I expected and hoped for, and then some — that’s the way it seems to go with Future Islands shows, as I’ve found over the years. And it was a perfect intersection of style, music, passion and ambition — Radio City Music Hall is famous for that, or so it would seem.

And on that note, Future Islands will be in heavy rotation as I groove my way through a Brooklyn weekend. On tap? Cold beer, time spent at Coney Island and some of the best summer gear from my pals at Huckberry. To sort out your own weekend, here are a few choice reading and style picks. Get out there and get after it, my friends!

Omega x SWATCH 2024 release.
  • Let’s talk about the best watches for a moment, shall we? And let’s talk about a buzzed-about watch collaboration bringing an iconic timepiece to the masses: The ongoing Omega x SWATCH series of timepieces, which takes classics like the famed Omega “MoonWatch” and puts a SWATCH spin on it. The latest trio of timepieces debuted in select SWATCH stores across the country earlier this week, and I covered Omega x SWATCH over at Maxim. Good luck tracking one down, my friends.
  • Now, let’s talk summer travel. You’ve hopefully got a rugged, stylish weekender bag lined up for getaways aplenty, but what about a smaller carry-on or addition to your everyday carry essentials the rest of the time back home? That’s where this Satchel & Page waxed brief comes into play, as I covered yesterday on the blog. Cheers to hitting the road this season, folks.
  • Here’s one more style hit for your weekend: The right chore coat can function as both a durable workwear piece and a stylish replacement for a blazer — not to mention a hard-working travel jacket on top of all that. I wrote about a handsome Taylor Stitch chore coat earlier this week on the blog, so do yourself a favor and circle back if you haven’t scored one for yourself.

And without further ado, that’ll bring the curtain down, Radio City-style, on another edition of what you need to know, wear and shop this weekend. Thanks for following along here at The Style Guide — we’ll have two weekend menswear posts headed your way in short order (tomorrow and Sunday!), so clock in accordingly (before you clock out, that is). Cheers and we’ll see you out there, my friends!

The Friday Read: Buck Mason Summer Menswear, A Brooklyn Rock Concert & Shinola’s Summer Getaway Bag

Buck Mason summer menswear review.

Even in the high heat of summer, it pays to be prepared in matters of style. That’s how your author feels here at The Style Guide, whether you’re in search of tips on how to dress for a summer wedding or how to dress for a rock concert. That’s why we’re here after all, right?

While I don’t have any summer weddings on the docket this weekend, I did attend a Brooklyn rock concert last night (more on that in a moment), and I can’t help but turn towards brands I trust for both occasions — this summer weekend very much included.

Buck Mason menswear review.

You might have guessed, but the brand in question — one that’ll have you wearing one of the best summer suits as easily as one of the best indigo henleys — is Buck Mason, and there’s hardly a better note on which to kick off a breezy Brooklyn weekend, I’d say.

From rugged chambray shirting to soft-shouldered tailoring fit for weddings and rooftop happy hours, I find myself reaching consistently for staple pieces from the Los Angeles brand, even ones as seemingly simple as one of the best USA-made T-shirts. And for the record, this is no sponsored post — just a wholehearted style recommendation heading into a weekend of Brooklyn BBQs and cold beer.

Buck Mason men's black jeans review.

And as to the versatility of the brand’s offerings, from rock concerts to wedding receptions — Buck Mason black jeans in particular were a go-to style move as I trekked to the famed Warsaw Concerts venue to see avant-garde rockers Shannon and the Clams last night with my blonde-haired sweetheart Mary.

Shannon’s EP (which I covered at Atwood Magazine, alongside a new single release) was among the music that helped bring us together, and the show was a very fitting one to attend side by side. Of course, style is the name of the game at a Brooklyn show, and my favorite black jeans more than did the trick (perhaps you saw the rest of my rock concert look over on my Instagram?).

Whatever your preferred beverage and song of choice happens to be this weekend, here are a few fitting Friday Reads to get the rest of this thing started the proper way.

Shinola Canfield Carryall review.
  • Here’s one for fans of both finely crafted whiskey and its natural summer pairing, a summer bonfire. Or rather, famed rye whiskey purveyors WhistlePig went a step further, partnering with outdoor fire pit and gear maker Solo Stove on a whiskey bundle. A whiskey bundle? Yes indeed, featuring a new whiskey release, a co-branded portable outdoor fire pit and more. Read my take on the collab right now at Maxim.com, my friends.
  • And without further ado, let’s roll into the weekend with one more choice style pick from yours truly. If you’re anything like me, you might sometimes find it hard to part with your favorite pair of jeans as the mercury climbs. But there’s a stylish replacement close at hand via Todd Snyder, who designed a pair of five-pocket pants with the style and polish of chinos, yet the fit and comfort of denim. Taken altogether — particularly the breezy linen-blend fabric — and they’re the perfect denim alternative for guys, as I covered this week here on the blog.

With that, I’ll bring this week’s edition of the Friday Read to a well-timed close (happy hour awaits on the horizon later today, and there are deadlines to meet, after all). If you didn’t quite find the summer menswear essentials you need from Buck Mason, for instance, rest assured that two weekend posts will cover other must-buy men’s style picks for summer — and with that, let’s get ready to toast to the weekend! Cheers and thanks, as always, for reading.

The Friday Read: Bar Madonna, The Best Summer Menswear & Summer’s Best Polo Shirts

Bar Madonna Brooklyn

Let’s look back on the week that was here in Brooklyn and beyond, shall we? If you follow me on Instagram, you’re well aware that I cover a lot of ground in my freelance writing pursuits, from spirits to menswear, watches and more. I also keep an eye on the New York City cocktail and restaurant scene, checking out hotspots new and old — including Bar Madonna, as seen at the top of the page.

I had the chance to visit the elegant yet accessible space earlier this week with my blonde-haired sweetheart Mary, and we can’t say enough great things about the just-opened cocktail and small plates haven

Bar Madonna takes an ingenious approach, pairing a refined aesthetic with splashes of colorful, vibrant art — including a massive bar-themed mural. The deeper story behind its artsy look and feel? Its partnership with Brooklyn artist and designer KidSuper, who serves as the art director for the space. How cool is that?

Yes, in addition to truly delicious cocktails like the bourbon, fernet and coffee liqueur Brooklyn Special, the location also has its own art director, placing it a cut above in a crowded Brooklyn cocktail scene.

As to its selection of small plates and shared bites, the grilled baby romaine salad (with bacon and wild boar!) was a delight, as was the grilled octopus. Oysters topped with a spicy dash of giardiniera were also a huge hit, as was the vibrant 68th and Harrow drink with citrus-infused vodka. Reader. to make a long story short: The next time you find yourself in Williamsburg, or in New York City in general, mark down Bar Madonna as a must-visit space.

Accordingly, I also dressed in spring-ready style — with a rain jacket for a blustery evening — so let’s dive into a few reading and shopping selections I’ve had my eye on as of late.

  • Here’s one for all the auto and watch enthusiasts out there: Seiko just added to its line of Prospex chronograph timepieces with three elegant, road-ready and rugged options, each with triple-chronograph functionality and striking good looks. Pricey though they might be, you can add these watches to your wish list via my latest for Maxim.com.
  • Let’s dive into another prime nod to the season, shall we? Over within the digital confines of my good friends at Huckberry, the retailer just debuted a suitably breezy, sunny and very aptly named selection of the best summer menswear. And what exactly is on tap in the Huckberry Sun Shop? Colorful printed short-sleeve buttondown shirts, finely tailored shorts, lounge-ready pants and linen blazers, plus plenty of breezy, ultra-soft T-shirts. Amp up your seasonal dressing ASAP with Huckberry, my friends.
  • I don’t know about you, but I assuredly look forward to lazy days by the pool or the beach as this time of year rolls around — and that’s where my new AskMen guide to the best summer sandals for men enters the equation. Although I much prefer stylish leather loafers or woven slides like an espadrille-style shoe, the best sandals for guys are sometimes a necessity. And helpfully, there’s a way to score a pair made with plenty of style and craftsmanship in mind, rather than cutting corners. Take a look and see for yourself, folks.

And now, I’m going to bring down the curtain on this late spring edition of the Friday Read. Hopefully, you’ve got a few reading and shopping selections primed for a spring weekend, yes? If you happen to be in Brooklyn visiting Bar Madonna, feel free to drop me a line — and if there are any brands or categories you’d like to see covered here on The Style Guide, drop me a line in the comments below. Cheers to the weekend, my friends!

Best summer menswear at Taylor Stitch.
