#OOTD: Styling Your New Favorite Oxford Shirt for Summer

The best part about owning plenty of men’s style essentials is the freedom and flexibility they give you as you put together your next #OOTD — even in the warmer months. That’s certainly the case in today’s edition of our ongoing Style Guide series — we’re telling you all about how to wear a classic Oxford this summer. That’s right — a stylish Oxford shirt can be part of your #menswear rotation even when the mercury climbs. Although we associate the summer months with short-sleeve renditions of our favorite fall and winter staples — take the short-sleeve chambray shirt, for instance — you can still reliably wear a well-made Oxford shirt in the heat of summer … as long as you pair it with like-minded summer style essentials. Certainly, if you start with one of the best men’s Oxford shirts, you’re stepping out on the right foot.

It seems as if we were just talking about transitional spring style on this here blog, and yet now, we’re staring down the Fourth of July and we’re talking about what to wear to the beach. Or rather, what to wear to the beach and all the rest of the best men’s gear to bring with you. We’ll cover a bunch today on The Style Guide, from a great beach cooler to a stylish pair of swim trunks, a slim summer T-shirt, great sunglasses and plenty, plenty more. After all, hitting the water needn’t mean you leave your favorite seasonal style essentials at home. You can — and indeed, should — bring along durable accessories, a stylish dive watch, a classic pair of sunglasses … seriously, bring (and wear) as much of it as you can. Vacation time is no time at all to slack off, fellas. It’s tough to believe it, but it’s here — the Fourth of July, that is. It’s a bit of an oddly timed holiday this year, falling on a Tuesday and all. But rest assured, your Style Guide team of one has still got some prime #menswear for you to check out, purchase and wear this year. I’ll be looking forward to a day spent hanging out around Brooklyn — and perhaps a trip to Coney Island. That’s why we’re using this opportunity to pull together a lot of sesasonal essentials you likely already have in your closet. Coming from a guy who loves a pair of slim light wash denim (even in the summer), it’s still crucial to not let your casual style slip up — and well-fitting, well-made shorts in seasonally friendly fabrics are one way to stay in shipshape. After all, you can wear a pair of stylish men’s shorts with nearly any of your other favorite summer style essentials — from a classic Oxford to a patterned short-sleeve shirt. That goes for lightweight layering pieces, too — a tailored pair of shorts, cut to hit above the knee, can serve as a complement to a light wash trucker jacket, a rugged short-sleeve henley and essential summer sneakers. #OOTD: How to Wear Your New Favorite Chinos This Spring

Am I the only one, or does it still feel odd to be talking about dressing for spring? Maybe it’s because of the frigid weather that swept through NYC a few weeks ago … and yet, here we with another spring style #OOTD on your favorite #menswear blog. It is your favorite, right? Good answer. At any rate, today’s look is taking a year-round staple — that would be the versatile, stylish slim chino — and bringing it out of the depths of winter and into slightly more temperate spring conditions. The great thing about a go-anywhere pair of chinos is that you can wear them just as easily here in early spring as you can through the summer, fall and winter. It’s a matter of layering up the right way — and subtracting layers as it gets warmer — but today’s outfit should give you the building blocks for transitional spring style. As you’ll see, we’re starting with everyday classics like your go-to Oxford shirt and a tough utility jacket, and we’re finishing the look off with a refined leather watch and … well, I don’t want to give too much away. Style Suggestion: What to Wear on Spring Break This Year

If you’ve been waiting all March for warmer temperatures — rejoice! Well, almost. And if you’ve been waiting all month to hit the road for spring break (or a regular ole spring vacation), you’re in luck. Yessir, we’re talking what to wear on spring break this year, and you’re absolutely going to like the way you look (I guarantee it … wink, wink). We’re mixing pieces both essential — stylish swim trunks — and unexpected (a smart-looking beach towel). In short, the latest style suggestion here on the blog deals not with a more mundane topic, like how to wear a long-sleeve polo, but is solely focused on helping you look your best for some fun in the sun. In fact, the below combo certainly works as you dress to head to the beach or pool, and with a few small tweaks (swap the swim trunks for slim chino shorts), you’re set for the rest of your day. So, you’ll have plenty to look forward to besides just some ample beach time — and if you haven’t previously considered style upgrades like a nicer pair of sunglasses or revamped beach gear, it’s time to start seriously thinking about it.
