The Friday Read: The Best Weekend Getaway Bag, New Spring Jeans & The World’s Oldest Whiskey

We’re through another spring week and we’re drawing closer, ever-so-slightly closer, to the days of summer travel. Right off the bat, get on out there and enjoy Mother’s Day (safely!) — more on that in a moment. I’m feeling a mixture of excitement and some trepidation, but mark my words when I say I know how I’m going to hit the road: In style, of course. If this whole road trip thing feels unfamiliar, it’s best to start, in my estimation, with the gear you’re bringing, like the best bag for a weekend getaway. The Friday Read: The Best New Spring Watch, Mack Weldon Gear & the Best Spring Beers

Folks, you know what time it is. It’s time to step into the weekend with today’s action-packed Friday Read, which covers new spring beer, new spring gear from the likes of Mack Weldon, some new SeaVees sneakers and of course, a new spring watch. The Friday Read: Eco-Friendly Menswear, New Luxury Watches & Swim Trunks for Summer

First off: Thanks for being here for another edition of The Friday Read, my ultimate guide to help you step into the weekend in style, preferably with some shopping picks in mind and a delicious craft beer or coffee close at hand. We’re going to start today with a theme that’s close to my heart, especially given that it’s Earth Month. Sustainability in fashion should be as important as the right fabric, the right fit or the right style essentials, and that’s where Pact Clothing (as seen above!) comes into play.

I’ve had the chance to test out the brand’s organic cotton menswear, including the Pact Vintage Snap Down, in recent weeks. These pieces are classic, well-made and affordable, and that goes for the brand’s stylish T-shirts as well as its outerwear and basics. And with Earth Day itself coming up, you should certainly start shopping for some eco-friendly menswear in a nod to the day. Some good food for thought for the weekend, yes? The Friday Read: Sustainable Sweatpants, The Best Spring Chukka Boots & A New Spring Jacket

It’s certainly no secret that we’ve all been living a lot more in sweatpants and comfortable athleisure-focused gear across this past, what, year? That’s not likely to change right away this weekend, which is why I’ve got a pick I think you’ll certainly enjoy heading into two casual, laidback days coming up (and beyond that). I recently had the chance to catch up with PAPER PROJECT, an innovative line of essentials made with incredibly cool Japanese paper yarn. PAPER PROJECT just launched its All Day Clean Sweats Collection, a set of the best sweatpants for men (and sweatshirts, and sweatshorts) that’s going to upgrade your laidback, casual style quite quickly. Alright, folks. You’ve got a lot on your to-do list, as do I, so let’s make hay while the sun shines and get into today’s Friday Read with a recommended weekend kickstart from one of my favorite grooming brands. If you read the blog, you’re familiar with Minnesota-based Duke Cannon, which makes cool grooming goods at affordable prices and supports veterans in the process. I’ve been talking pretty consistently about Alex Mill shirts and more from the NYC-based brand here on the blog, and with good reason.
