See Now, Buy Now: These Proof Rover Work Pants from Huckberry are Ready for Winter’s Worst

Best work pants for men.

If your neck of the woods looks anything like mine these days, I’m willing to bet you’re dealing with your fair share of frigid wind, deep snow and foul conditions aplenty. And yet, the work doesn’t stop, be it your winter to-do list or the ever-mounting need to shovel snow, dig yourself out and perhaps get back to the office.

For whatever’s in your way and whatever happens to be on your to-do list, the best workwear can handle it all — and then some. The best work pants for men, while not traditional snow pants you’d wear on a mountain, are more than equipped to take on the task at hand, especially if the sturdy work pants for men are the Proof Rover Double Knee Work Pants, which blend form and function in a reliably rugged way from the good folks at Huckberry. Better still is the fact that you can save 15 percent on your purchase of two pairs — but let’s dive into why you’d want to do that, shall we?

There’s always much to love in the way of durable winter gear, performance-minded menswear and tough-as-nails supplies in the digital shelves at Huckberry, and the road-ready Proof Rover Double Knee Work Pants should more than pass muster. Proof delivers adventure-minded performance menswear under the Huckberry umbrella, from its famed 72-Hour Merino T-Shirts (truly worn for three days of hard-working off-grid excursions) to the fan-favorite Proof Rover Pants, which my Proof reviews have covered here on this Brooklyn style blog.

Best work pants for men.

The hard-working Proof Rover Double Knee Work Pants share much of the same DNA as the flagship Proof Rover Pants, starting with their fabrication. Your new favorite winter pants feature a tough-as-can-be cotton-blend, recycled poly fabric construction that regulates your temperature, boasts just enough useful stretch and wicks away moisture at the same time. Talk about a laundry list of features designed to move with you and make tackling your to-do list all that much easier.

Lest we forget, the Proof Rover Double Knee Work Pants feature reinforced construction at key stress points through the thigh and knee, plus riveted pockets for an ultra-sturdy finish. In my experience wearing the Proof Rover Pants, the pigment-dye finish makes these rugged work pants for men surprisingly sturdy and yet supple out of the box, all the better to mold to your body over time.

Of course, whether layered up with a thermal henley and a wool-lined waxed trucker jacket or styled with a burly crewneck sweater and a barn coat, the dependable Proof Rover Double Knee Work Pants should move easily with you, thanks to the gusseted crotch. Huckberry even built out the forward-thinking Proof Rover Double Knee Work Pants with a back waistband pocket for your everyday carry.

Rounding things out is the fact that some of the best men’s work pants come in three proprietary Huckberry fits, including an Athletic Tapered fit (my personal favorite) and a crisp Slim fit — not to fear though, as the reliable Proof Rover Double Knee Work Pants should still readily team with pull-on work boots or Red Wing Iron Ranger Boots. Don’t delay snapping up your new go-to work pants — they can handle winter’s worst, and then some.

The Tuesday Steal: Save as Much as 75 Percent on the Best Men’s Style for Winter at the Billy Reid End of Season Sale

Billy Reid winter menswear.

When the going gets tough, when brisk winter weather rolls into town, you’ve got two options, it seems: Layer up properly and in refined stye, or let the season get the best of you. And if you can layer up in refined style while rocking some of the best winter menswear, that’s all the better — it’s the name of the game at this Brooklyn style blog.

And of course, it’s paramount if you’re able to add some affordable men’s fashion to your wardrobe at the very same time. And that, my friends, brings us to today’s ultra-valuable and eye-catching Tuesday Steal entry, offering up some seriously prime savings on winter menswear: The Billy Reid End of Season Sale is positively packed with jaw-dropping deals aplenty, and you can save as much as 75 percent off right now — the fun’s just getting started, isn’t it, folks?

If you keep up with the digital pages of this Brooklyn style blog, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of the Americana-inspired, utterly classic, rugged-meets-refined stylings of the legendary Reid, who’s been designing heirloom-quality menswear across the board for well over two decades. That goes for the peacoat worn by James Bond as readily as it does the timeless Billy Reid Shoals Denim Shirt, an expertly crafted spin on a Western favorite.

That also holds true for the brand’s ultra-soft, versatile tailored Moleskin Pants, crisply cut wool jackets and handsome Oxford shirts — to name but a few selections that have gone under the proverbial red discount pen via the Billy Reid End of Season Sale.

The selection for sale (now through February 3rd!) also includes tailored wool overcoats, crisply cut, office-ready trousers, wear-with-anything long-sleeve polos and rugged-meets-refined henleys. Keep in mind that all you need to do to make the most of the Billy Reid End of Season Sale (again, now through February 3rd!) is to use the code LASTCHANCE at checkout.

A variety of luxe everyday sweaters, ultra-soft polos and eye-catching plaid and subtly patterned buttondown shirts are also on offer (for a limited time, my friends) via the must-shop, positively outstanding Billy Reid End of Season Sale. These savings only roll around once a season, so you’d do well to scour the market for online savings aplenty.

See Now, Buy Now: Pair This Rugged Tecovas Sweater with Your Favorite Western Boots This Winter

Tecovas menswear review.

As we bundle up with increasing fervor across the frigid winter months, it’s important to remember — at least in my experience — that having a bit of fun in the process of scouring the market for winter style essentials is, well, also important. So, while you might have figured out your outerwear situation and ideally, the best winter boots on your feet, it pays off to have a touch of fun or at least a touch of the unexpected in your layering rotation.

That’s where Tecovas comes in: As fun as it is to step out in a pair of rugged Tecovas work boots or the brand’s ever-popular Western boots, it’s perhaps even cooler to discover something a bit unexpected, like one of the best winter sweaters for men. The Austin-based brand has shot to popularity across the past decade for embodying all things Western in matters of style and substance, and a rugged winter sweater like the Tecovas Desert Crew Neck Sweater can add a dash of dependability, flair and style to everything from a waxed trucker jacket to a flannel shirt jacket.

Helpfully, the Tecovas Desert Crew Neck Sweater is unexpected, it’s eye-catching and it’s built to last at a relatively fair price ($145 as of press time). Paired up with your favorite pair of handsome, durable Tecovas leather Western boots — of which the brand makes dozens of different styles — and you’ve got a stylish sweater you can layer up in versatile fashion.

Crafted from midweight Merino wool for temperature regulation and plenty of warmth (whether paired with a chambray shirt or straightforward long-sleeve cotton tee), this sweater gains variety from its half-cardigan stitch construction through the body. Pair that with shoulder and back yoke seed stitch detailing, plus rack stitching at the cuffs and hem — this handsome sweater is visually appealing all the way through, especially in Winter White.

Best of all is the attention to detail in constructing the Tecovas Desert Crew Neck Sweater — note the cow skull motif emblazoned across the back in bold, rugged fashion. It’s a one-of-a-kind sweater available in two crisp colors and practically made to be paired with expertly crafted light wash or dark blue jeans (which you can also score at Tecovas, as luck would have it!). The next time opportunity comes knocking in the form of a reliable sweater to layer up with during winter’s worst weather, I’d wager the Tecovas Desert Crew Neck Sweater is about as good as it gets.

The Sunday Sale: Save on the Best Everyday Menswear With the Bonobos Winter ‘Sale on Sale’

No matter how well-stocked you might find your daily menswear wardrobe, there’s always time for reflection or for an examination of what you might need — but let’s stay away from overly extravagant purchases and focus on the daily essentials that yes, you do truly need.

A crisp pair of pants for the office, an Oxford shirt you can wear solo or layer up, even a reliable topcoat that you can wear with virtually any outfit in your rotation… and yes, it’s worth considering a brand that can help get you there. My friends, let’s return once again to the ever-versatile, crisply designed and carefully fashioned stylings of Bonobos, the venerable NYC menswear brand approaching its 20th anniversary.

I’ve covered Bonobos plenty in Bonobos reviews over the years on this style blog, and while the brand’s scope has expanded beyond just the best chinos for men, there’s still something to be said for the quality and performance of its retooled lineup (at least, that holds true in my experience).

And there’s never been a more prime opportunity to find precisely what you need for the office, for date night or as you search for what to wear on Valentine’s Day. How so? The Bonobos Winter ‘Sale on Sale’ is here for a limited time, with savings so good, you very well might look at least twice.

With the simply excellent Bonobos Winter ‘Sale on Sale’, you can take up to 50 percent off already on-sale items for a grand total of as much as 70 percent off. A whopper of a deal as we cruise into the next stretch of winter, yes?

The Bonobos Winter ‘Sale on Sale’ delivers the goods when it comes to a slew of easily wearable everyday classics, including the stretchy yet sturdy Bonobos Travel Jeans (a personal favorite), plus crisp everyday shirting, cozy sweaters and more refined selections like the Bonobos Jetsetter British Wool Blazer as shown above.

How’s that for the perfect mix of savings and style? I very well might be biased, but I’m quite simply a fan of darn near everything Bonobos does –an expert blend of accessibility, attention to detail, modern style and classic good looks. And yes, that’s high praise, but it’s yours for the taking via the Bonobos Winter ‘Sale on Sale’. Happy shopping, folks.

Style Pick of the Week: Criquet Corduroy Quilted Shacket – One of the Best Shirt Jackets for Men

Criquet shirt jackets.

Every guy needs to shake off the doldrums of winter at one point or another, especially if you live in a place that falls on the slightly more temperate side of things, a place where a durable shirt jacket might prove useful until lunchtime, and then once again after the sun goes down. If you ask me, that’s what one of the best shirt jackets can bring to the table in terms of layering versatility — it’s something you’ll see often if you follow me on Instagram, in fact.

And if it’s a rugged shirt you seek, you just might be surprised what you’ll find from the easygoing yet rugged, up-for-anything folks at Criquet Shirts. The retro-inspired brand is perhaps known for ultra-soft polos (think: The kind that Arnold Palmer would have worn) and a range of buttery-soft buttondown shirts. And now, they’re diving into more road-ready picks like the Criquet Corduroy Quilted Shacket as seen here.

We previously dove into Criquet buttondown shirts in another Criquet review on this very blog, but let’s take a closer look at a versatile and durable outer layer for brisk days — the kind that you can wear now and into early spring, provided the timing and weather at hand suits the situation properly. And if you’re looking for a durable outer layer with handy pockets to get you from point A to point B, whether that’s a train ride or a Land Rover jaunt, consider the ever-helpful shirt jacket — one like this handsome number from Criquet Shirts, in fact.

The Criquet Corduroy Quilted Shacket (available in three crisp, easily wearable colors) takes Criquet’s super-soft corduroy shirting fabric and uses a recycled polyester inner fill lining for a touch of added ‘oomph’ and warmth.

They’ve kept the same signature Criquet details when it comes to the Criquet Corduroy Quilted Shacket, including a Western style snap chest pocket and traditional pearl snap buttons down the front — all the better for a customizable fit (as Criquet calls it, the “same right-on-the-money fit” as its other buttondown shirts.

Criquet Shirts review.

In fact, the relatively classic fit of this shacket — in my experience with Criquet Shirts — should lend itself to layering over everything from a graphic tee to a long-sleeve thermal henley and perhaps even a contrasting plaid shirt from the humble, good-time Texas-based brand.

For a layer that’s a reliable go-between from an ultra-thick flannel shirt and your daily-driver chambray shirt, that’s a great quality to have indeed. The next time you need a reliable layer ready for both relaxation and the road ahead, opt for the Criquet Corduroy Quilted Shacket.

The Friday Find: The Best Made Co. Wool-Lined Waxed Field Jacket Belongs In Your Closet In the Years Ahead

Best Made Co. review.

If the Friday Find series is all about spotlighting brands that fly ever-so-slightly under the radar, then it’s also about spotlighting brands and designers large and not-so-large that are doing things the right way, the hard way, in a steadfast manner. Perhaps no company featured on the Friday Find so far embodies that ethos and craftsmanship quite like Best Made Co. (let the debate begin, but for my money’s worth, it holds up!).

And in fact, perhaps Best Made Co. isn’t so unfamiliar to you — after all, the brand was founded in 2009 by designer Peter Buchanan-Smith, and quickly shot to cult fame for its iconic axes and hard-wearing, good old-fashioned pieces like chore coats and handsome sweaters.

The company was later folded into the Duluth Trading Co. umbrella, at least for a time (after Buchanan-Smith’s departure), but the founder eventually bought his company back and retooled Best Made beginning in the fall of 2023. The real story, to hear its founder tell it, is longer and more nuanced, but there’s lots to dive into here — and it certainly won’t be the last time we talk about Best Made Co. on this Brooklyn menswear blog, my friends.

What a journey, right? The brand is back under its founder’s guidance, and as near as I can tell, the results are as tough, hard-working, rugged and functional as ever — which brings us to the Best Made Co. Wool-Lined Waxed Field Jacket, among other must-see staples from a newly resurgent Best Made Co. The company is as product-focused as ever, with a rugged ethos that looks to the great outdoors and heirloom design staples aplenty.

When it comes to the Best Made Co. Wool-Lined Waxed Field Jacket, the brand used its own proprietary Cruiser Jacket pattern to deliver a twist on an old-time favorite, using British Millerain waxed cotton for a durable shell that’s then bolstered from the inside with sturdy but supple Wyoming wool. To say Best Made Co. went all-out with this excellent-looking jacket is an understatement:

The company lined the sleeves of this field jacket in cotton twill herringbone, then used wool within its hand warmer pockets. Meanwhile, British corduroy finishes off the collar and cuffs, and incredibly, it all comes together right n New York City. They don’t make ’em like they used to, except when they do. If this is a new look at a new Best Made Co., then color me very impressed — the best is indeed yet to come, I’d wager.

The Thursday Buy: Flint and Tinder Just Teamed Up With Rancourt & Co. On Some Seriously Rugged New Boots

Flint and Tinder x Rancourt & Co.

We’re back after a brief hiatus and my latest style and spirits-focused jaunt across the pond, as you might have seen on my Instagram, so let’s get into it today, my friends. In matters of the best winter style essentials, it can sometimes feel like you’ve seen it all — how much better can a pair of rugged winter boots get, after all? Well, in the case of the good folks at Huckberry, a line has been drawn in the sand, or rather, the ante has been upped even further with the iconic modern retailer’s latest standout footwear collaboration.

Again, that’s a high bar to clear considering the likes of Huckberry x Danner have hit the brand’s digital shelves in recent years, but Flint and Tinder x Rancourt & Co. delivers the goods once again, and then some. If you’ve read this Brooklyn style blog or perused the Huckberry site as of late, you’ll know that Flint and Tinder menswear is Americana through and through, inspired by the open road, the American West and the great outdoors.

Best chukka boots for men.

That lineup includes one of the best waxed trucker jackets on the market, plus expertly faded denim and crisp chinos abound, along with perfectly crafted footwear, like the Flint and Tinder x Rancourt & Co. Acadia Chukka Boots (among other F&T offerings, of course). The just-launched, highly durable and seriously rugged Flint and Tinder x Rancourt & Co. Acadia Chukka Boots meet the high standards of both Huckberry and Rancourt & Co., the generational Maine-based footwear maker known for serious attention to craft and handsewn, eye-catching and heirloom-quality boots and moccasins.

It’s a family business run the right way, to say the very least, and that lends itself to some iconic and hard-wearing boots and shoes. The Flint and Tinder x Rancourt & Co. Acadia Chukka Boots are the latest in that long line of enviable boots and shoes, including high-top sneakers that sold out quickly more than a decade ago.

So if you want a piece of the latest and greatest American-made boots for men, take heed:Your new favorite boots won’t be around for very long.

The Flint and Tinder x Rancourt & Co. Acadia Chukka Boots boast Chicago-sourced pull-up bison leather with rich texture made to take on a handsome patina over time.

These stylish men’s leather boots are built atop a Reltex Ranger outsole that should prove lightweight and yet traction-minded, while the Flint and Tinder x Rancourt & Co. Acadia Chukka Boots are unlined — grab a pair of your favorite boot socks, cuff your flannel-lined denim and get out there to take on the winter cold. Select sizes are selling fast, so now is as grand a time as any to upgrade your winter boot game.

Best thermal shirts for men.

A tall order perhaps, yes?
