The Sunday Sale: This Classic Faherty Chambray Shirt Can Be Yours for 35 Percent off at Huckberry

Best men's chambray shirts.

We talk often on this Brooklyn menswear blog about versatile men’s style essentials that can be worn just about anywhere, any time — the sort of picks that can also be found on sale, if you keep a weather eye on the horizon and strike while the iron is hot.

And so it goes with perusing the always well-stocked Huckberry Sale section, which is packed with a slew of iconic pieces from seasons past — plus the type of selections, like one of the best chambray shirts for men — that can be worn this very instant.

Call it the sweet spot in the world of men’s style, and that’s what makes the always-classic, never-out-of-style Faherty Brand Tried and True Chambray Shirt such a steal right now. On this fine Sunday (and beyond), you can find one of the best men’s chambray shirts for about 35 percent off via Huckberry, with the utility to carry you into fall quite handsomely.

It’s a classic take on the chambray shirt, made even better by its slightly more polished buttondown collar design, plus a tailored fit via tapered sleeves and a tapered waist. This Faherty Brand men’s shirt is a shirt that’s just as at home beneath your favorite blazer as it is atop a stylish men’s henley, and that’s wearability and versatility I can assuredly get behind.

And with its current discount via the Huckberry Sale section, you can find it for close to $100 — in my experience, Faherty men’s shirts (and indeed, most any shirt sold by Huckberry) are well worth the investment either way.

The fabric should prove soft and supple yet durable, the utility with its chest pocket (and a fit that looks great tucked or untucked) is next-level, and the savings are top-notch, at least in my book. Close out your weekend the right way with a tried-and-true must-have, pun very much intended.

Style Pick of the Week: Bespoke Post x Schott NYC Leather Rancher Jacket – Back & Better than Ever

Bespoke Post x Schott NYC Leather Jacket.

Some menswear collaborations, even some of the best menswear partnerships, are so rare that they tend to flash in the pan and never return, arriving for one season and then being whisked away on the wind.

That might seem like hyperbole when it comes to the best menswear essentials, especially ones sold by Bespoke Post, but sometimes, it just so happens to be true — and yet, that’s not the case with the return of the Bespoke Post x Schott NYC Roughout Leather Rancher Jacket. It takes inspiration from 1930s service jackets, and only gets better from there.

As you might recall, Schott and Bespoke Post teamed up last year on the perfect jacket for fall, and a new edition of one of the best leather jackets for men returns just in time for “shoulder season.” The Bespoke Post x Schott NYC Roughout Leather Rancher Jacket hits the mark perfectly in terms of an heirloom leather jacket for men, to say the very least.

And as you might expect, it was made specifically for the acclaimed retailer (also a purveyor of some of the best subscription boxes for men, as you know if you read this Brooklyn style blog).

The Bespoke Post x Schott NYC Roughout Leather Rancher Jacket is American-made from rich roughout leather, the kind with standout texture and durability — a hallmark for decades with Schott, which routinely makes some of the best moto jackets on the market. Antique copper hardware adorns this handsome jacket, which also boasts a chest zipper pocket and handy side hip pockets to store everyday carry essentials aplenty.

The rugged Bespoke Post x Schott NYC Roughout Leather Rancher Jacket, at least in this year’s new release, boasts a durable contrasting leather collar and a rich, hard-wearing construction, the kind that should feel relatively supple out of the box while breaking in wonderfully over time.

And at the splurge-worthy price of $825, it’s a safe bet that you’ll want to get plenty of wear out of your new favorite leather jacket — particularly atop fall style classics like a rugged henley and expertly faded blue jeans.

It’s hard to find one iteration of an iconic leather jacket in a special collaborative build, much less a second edition, but the Bespoke Post x Schott NYC Roughout Leather Rancher Jacket lives up to its billing and then some — find your size while it’s still around, and then proceed to wear it in casually rugged fashion as often as yo ucan.

The Friday Read: Visiting “Downton Abbey” with Highclere Castle Gin

Highclere Castle Gin.

My friends, welcome back to another edition of my weekday-ending recap, The Friday Read, where we touch on a little bit of everything — menswear very much included — in a way that’s a little bit different than the process here at The Style Guide the rest of the week.

You see, if you keep up with me on Instagram, you know that I wear a lot of hats among my many freelance writing pursuits, from covering the best sneakers for GQ to writing about the best new Scotch at Maxim and keeping up with all things fall style within the confines of this site (and others).

And as with my trip just last week to El Tesoro Tequila to try a stellar lineup of excellent new tequila, I once again hopped a flight — this time, a longer, trans-Atlantic flight to follow the story and the spirit.

The itinerary and the goal this time around? Trekking to historic Highclere Castle — a real-life castle and yes, the actual home of acclaimed TV and film series “Downton Abbey.” Not bad for a weekday work trip, right? Among other adventures, the trip took back the curtain on the excellent Highclere Castle Gin, a bottle that absolutely belongs in your bar cart (and one that’s often priced at below $30 in the United States).

There’s much to love about Highclere Castle Gin, which actually launched much more recently than one might expect — just before the pandemic hit, in fact. It was founded in part by entrepreneur Adam von Gootkin, who dreamed up the idea for the spirit and brought it to life with the help of the castle’s own Lord and Lady Carnarvon. Your average back-bar gin backed by a massive corporate conglomerate, this is not.

And yet, the gin tastes just as historic and acclaimed as its larger counterparts, with centuries of pedigree backed up by its namesake home. Along with two days spent tasting gin and wandering the grounds of Highclere Castle, a stop in London (at the Other House Kensington) and an excellent gin pairing dinner at The Stafford London was in order. In The Stafford’s historic wine cellar, fellow writers, influencers and supporters of Highclere Castle dined on some stunning dishes (again, follow me on Instagram for real-time action).

We tried a forthcoming new expression (more to come soon!) and chiefly, trekked the iconic and instantly recognizable grounds — shoutout to my traveling companion, drinking buddy and formidable writer Brian Freedman.

The Highclere Castle Barrel-Aged Gin was a particular highlight, with unexpected smoke and citrus notes thanks to aging in Armagnac barrels (among other processes). The best part is, you can get Highclere Castle Gin online and in nine countries, and all at a remarkably low price. How’s that for a visit that’s worth hopping on a plane across the ocean?

It’s trips like these, ones where I get to experience exceptional spirits in a wonderful atmosphere — all while wearing some of my favorite menswear and carrying my favorite luggage for travel — that drive home that I positively love what I do when it comes to my many freelance writing pursuits.

On that front, you can assuredly look for much more on my trip very soon at sites like CoolMaterial.com, where I’ve got a couple stories in the hopper just yet. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to a restful weekend back in Brooklyn, where “flannel shirt weather” continues to creep in slowly but surely.

As always, you can expect a series of weekend style posts incoming talking all about the best fall menswear. Stay stylish, stay thirsty and thanks for reading, my friends!

The Thursday Buy: The Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt Is an Expert Early Fall Layer to Try Now

Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt.

When certain dates on the calendar start to creep ever closer, like the official first day of fall, I like to start readying my wardrobe as soon as humanly possible. Certain pieces, like my array of short-sleeve shirts for summer, are swapped out in favor of more rugged picks like one of the best chambray shirts, and that process usually includes a healthy dose of Huckberry menswear.

So it goes with the latest and greatest from Flint and Tinder, the brand-new Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt — it’s another finely crafted, mighty tempting selection from the in-house brand at Huckberry, and it just might become your newest go-to layer this season.

Already the purveyor of one of the best waxed trucker jackets on the market, plus perfectly complementary faded jeans, stylish stretch chinos and more, the good folks at Flint and Tinder always seem to hit the mark when it comes to rugged, classic and easygoing-yet-useful pieces.

Naturally, this corduroy overshirt fits the bill quite nicely, with a garment-dyed wide wale corduroy construction that should prove ultra-soft right out of the box.

Best shirt jackets for men.

Double flap chest pockets and a straight hem — more like a chore coat than a traditional shirt jacket – give the Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt an air of utility, while rich color options deliver style points aplenty. It also doesn’t hurt that the new Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt retails for just under $100, a fair price given the quality I’ve come to expect from Flint and Tinder.

The rich Harvest Gold color of the Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt might prove an especially apt seasonal choice, particularly alongside faded blue jeans. And when layered atop a henley or a thermal shirt, the pleasingly rugged, casually cool Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt is well-suited for fall bonfires, cozy cabin mornings and layering beneath a trusted field jacket. As the seasons shift, make sure the handsome Flint and Tinder Corduroy Overshirt is in your wardrobe and ready to go, my friends.

See Now, Buy Now: This Taylor Stitch Organic Cotton Henley is the Base Layer Your Fall Wardrobe Can Use

Taylor Stitch Organic Cotton Henley.

In my experience, as the seasons change and roll back around — from summer into fall, in this case — it’s more than worth it to have a few choice style essentials close at hand, the kind of pieces you can come back to time and time again.

Taylor Stitch Organic Cotton Henley review.

Take one of the best men’s henleys, a stylish choice that can serve as a rugged base layer or an option to wear all on its own — and the Taylor Stitch Organic Cotton Henley more than gets the job done as a timeless, modern classic. It’s the kind of useful, well-crafted piece as suited for wearing alongside the best selvedge denim from Taylor Stitch as with canvas work pants or even the brand’s famed chinos.

And in my experience, it delivers properly in terms of form, fabric and durability — to say the very least. Yes indeed, if you needed a reminder that fall is all about proper layering and utility, then the Taylor Stitch Organic Cotton Henley should be your starting move of choice.

Best fall henleys for men.

It comes in the brand’s helpful chest sizing (from sizes 36 to 46), another useful starting point as you search for a tailored henley that’s flattering enough to wear on its own, and easy enough to layer beneath a waxed trucker jacket or a durable denim shirt.

With the Taylor Stitch Organic Cotton Henley, it’s about so much more than fit however, and the company proves time and again that it takes its fabric seriously.

This particular option (especially in the Heather Oat colorway, my personal favorite) uses a sturdy 5oz. organic cotton that should hold its shape over time. A ribbed collar and cuffs add durability and style, and the two-button placket is a classic, appealing touch.

It comes in a wide array of useful colors (including Faded Black as shown above), and each is about as versatile as it gets this fall season. A rugged henley flatters every guy, and the Taylor Stitch Organic Cotton Henley is certainly no exception — time to embrace the season with tried-and-true menswear picks aplenty.

The Tuesday Steal: Save 40 Percent on This Fall-Ready Flannel Shirt at Huckberry Now

Best flannel shirt for men.

As we shift into a new season, you might not yet have fully taken stock, literally and figuratively, when it comes to the best fall style essentials to round out your next #OOTD. That certainly can be said for the best flannel shirts for fall, since a whole new crop of the seasonal favorite is hitting shelves as we speak.

But what if I told you that the good folks at Huckberry are making it easier than ever, as they always seem to do, by stocking a true in-season favorite at a steal of a deal? That’s why we’re here today on this fine Tuesday, after all.

And you’re in luck, of course: The Huckberry Sale section is now your one-stop shop for style essentials you can wear starting right this instant. That list absolutely includes the rugged 3Sixteen flannel shirt shown above (keep scrolling for more, my friends).

You see, while some retailers are getting rid of plenty of out-of-season sort of gear, the Huckberry Sale section has some hidden gems not to be missed, including the handsome, seasonally ready 3sixteen Crosscut Flannel Shirt.

Best flannel shirt for men to wear this fall.

Best known for a full lineup of stylish selvedge denim and USA-made classics, including T-shirts and of course, flannel shirts, 3sixteen puts a slightly Western spin on iconic favorites. That leads us to a multi-season flannel shirt you can now find for 40 percent off within the Huckberry Sale section. The 3sixteen Crosscut Flannel Shirt delivers the goods when it comes to transitional fall layering, starting with a heavy jacquard fabric and a flattering fit.

3sixteen Crosscut Flannel Shirt review.

Chest pockets give the 3sixteen Crosscut Flannel Shirt the utility of an overshirt, while the rich, earthy plaid color is a stylish addition to any fall wardrobe.

And when you consider that this flannel shirt normally retails for well over $200, yet can be had for 40 percent off, well, I’d wager the fine folks at Huckberry have once again delivered a sale find you can feel more than great about wearing as soon as possible.

See Now, Buy Now: The Tecovas Luke Chelsea Boots are the Rugged Fall Boots You Need Now

Best Chelsea boots for men

As we step ever more swiftly into fall, there are a few key considerations to keep in mind as you survey the landscape of the best fall style essentials. Chief among them, if you ask me, might be a proper pair of boots for all situations rugged, be it fall weekend cabin getaways, day trips, leisurely strolls or a wide range of pursuits (tailgating or Oktoberfest beers, anyone?).

All of that means you need a pair of boots you can count on, a pair that delivers versatility plus reliable comfort and performance — a pair of boots like the Tecovas Luke Chelsea Boots, as dependable a pair as any on the market.

The famed Texas brand, best known for its classic Cowboy boots and Western boots in all forms, also makes a heck of a pair of the best Chelsea boots, one that uses finely crafted leather and highly durable materials along the way. The difference is one you can see and feel, and it’s largely thanks to the rugged water-resistant cowhide leather in a rich Cognac color, one nicely complemented by weatherproof seams.

Tecovas men's boots review

A Vibram Cristy outsole delivers superior comfort, grip and even toughness, and it doesn’t hurt that the Tecovas Luke Chelsea Boots toe the line nicely in terms of both style and performance. The shape of the toe box is sleek enough to wear with black or light wash jeans (or even dark tan chinos), yet the build of these boots means you can wear ’em reliably for workwear situations, too.

Tecovas men's Chelsea boots review.

The cushioned insole of the Tecovas Luke Chelsea Boots adds even more comfort, and in my experience, I’ve found that Vibram outsoles are springy and strong yet ultra-supple for all-day wear. That touch alone gives the Tecovas Luke Chelsea Boots an edge above the rest of the competition, and here’s something even better.

You see, no matter which of the two leather options you select (particularly the Cognac leather seen here), well, I’d wager that the Tecovas Luke Chelsea Boots are only going to get better with more consistent wear.

Team ’em with your favorite blue jeans and a waxed trucker jacket, style ’em with tan chinos and a white Oxford shirt for high-low style, or opt into them as a durable choice with black selvedge jeans and a grey henley. There’s little that the Tecovas Luke Chelsea Boots can’t do, and you’re about to find that out the right way this fall — happy shopping, my friends.

The Sunday Sale: Save 20 Percent on these Stylish Corduroy Pants from Faherty Brand

Faherty Brand corduroy pants review.

Shifting ever so slightly from season to season, as in stepping from late summer into early fall, requires some careful consideration of color, texture and style. Now, there’s no need to overthink your fall style essentials, at least in my experience, but some slight shifts are welcome, and the good folks at Faherty Brand can help.

So, where you might rock a pair of light wash denim or chino shorts in the summer, a pair of the best men’s corduroy pants are a reliable go-between as you bridge the gap between seasons. Still with me?

Good, great, grand, because the Faherty Brand Stretch Corduroy Pants are precisely the pair you need in your fall menswear rotation, and I’ve got even better news: They’re on sale for 20 percent off right now, making them a very wise choice indeed for today’s Sunday Sale offering.

The Faherty Brand Stretch Corduroy Pants carry on the brand’s reliable legacy of casually cool staples, pieces that are suitable for business casual looks but more readily wearable at a weekend brewery outing, at a dinner party or on an upstate seasonal getaway. Again, the best corduroy pants do it all, with rich fall colors, plus texture and easygoing style to match.

Faherty Brand Stretch Corduroy Pants.

Four colors of the ever-versatile Faherty Brand Stretch Corduroy Pants are on sale right now, from rich Raw Umber to Washed Black, and it helps that these stylish men’s corduroy pants are built more like five-pocket pants or jeans than dress pants (dress pants would typically feature slant side hip pockets).

The fit is tailored but not overly slim, and as you can see here, the Faherty Brand Stretch Corduroy Pants can be styled with everything from tough Blundstone boots to sleek leather Chelsea boots. Throw in the fact that they’re on sale, they’re well-made and built to last, and they feature plenty of stretch — you might have just found your new favorite pair of fall pants, my friends.

Style Pick of the Week: Todd Snyder Nomad Chelsea Boots – A Perfect Pair of Early Fall Boots for Men

Best suede Chelsea boots for men.

When an already-great silhouette gets top-tier treatment from one of the country’s best designers, great things are bound to happen when it comes to your wardrobe of fall menswear essentials. That’s certainly the case, at least in my experience, with the Todd Snyder Nomad Chelsea Boots, which build off the award-winning designer’s Nomad Chukka Boots.

Those chukka boots are already some of the best men’s boots out there, and the Nomad line just got even better, if you ask me. All of the hallmarks of classic men’s Chelsea boots are present, including elastic side panels and a streamlined toe shape that makes it both refined and yet pleasingly casual.

Todd Snyder Nomad Chelsea Boots.

Would you expect anything less from a designer known as much for expertly faded denim as for luxe suiting? The Todd Snyder Nomad Chelsea Boots are the best of both worlds, using a handsome suede upper atop a more casual crepe rubber outsole for a high-low balance.

Those details make your new favorite Chelsea boots as wearable with Todd Snyder selvedge denim as with olive chinos, a navy blazer and a chambray shirt (to name but one reliable everyday pairing).

And the details are also accounted for accordingly when it comes to the Todd Snyder Nomad Chelsea Boots, including Todd Snyder branded back pull tabs. As the company itself notes, “it’s hard to think of a shoe more versatile than the Chelsea boot,” and that also holds true given the duo of versatile color options in which you can snag these highly wearable fall boots for men.

Take the Snuff or Dark Brown version of the best Chelsea boots for a spin with everything from dark blue jeans to burgundy corduroys as temperatures plummet, and feel free to mix and match the Todd Snyder Nomad Chelsea Boots with staples like a rugged henley or a more crisp chambray shirt.

For now, a wide range of sizes are available, and at $398, the Todd Snyder Nomad Chelsea Boots are a fall footwear investment worth making ASAP — at least, I think so. Step on into ’em and we’ll see you out there.

The Friday Read: An El Tesoro Tequila Trip & The Best Waxed Jackets from Huckberry

It’s hard to believe it’s Friday, and it’s even more difficult for me to believe that I’m back in the States after a whirlwind week that touched on a bit of everything as it relates to my many freelance writing pursuits. In covering everything from menswear to watches, I attended New York Fashion Week last week and saw new watches from Breitling and new (old) vintage menswear from L.L. Bean, as you might have seen on my Instagram.

And then from there, it was time to get down to the real business seen at the top of the page: A lightning-fast, 48-hour trip South of the Border earlier this week with none other than El Tesoro Tequila. It was part of a trip to sample expressions new and old at the famed La Alteña Distillery in the highlands outside of Guadalajara, and it was well worth the short turnaround time.

It was also well worth adding another arrow to my quiver, so to speak, in terms of covering spirits for sites like Maxim.com (in addition to the fine menswear you see on this site and at my other bylines).

The absolutely gorgeous agave fields proved a stunning highlight, as did a distillery tour that included sampling tequila right from the still (a high ABV mixed with a dangerously delicious taste and old-world craft). We also sampled some stellar El Tesoro flagship expressions and enjoyed an excellent, stone oven-fired traditional Mexican lunch. Most notably for yours truly: The chance to sample a top-secret, as-yet-to-be-announced release that uses, let’s say, some distinctive aging processes.

In fact, it builds on the El Tesoro legacy as the oldest traditionally made tequila in the world, and again, it was well worth the short yet highly informative, highly delicious visit. Look for much more on my trip to Mexico in the weeks ahead!

Best waxed trucker jacket for men.

Now, let’s shift gears here from some of the best tequila on the market to some of the best fall menswear, as I find the two go hand in hand quite nicely these days. That holds especially true if you’re shopping just about any new collection from the good folks at Huckberry, very much including the new Huckberry Waxed Jacket Outpost.

Huckberry waxed jackets review.

A full lineup of versatile, rugged and nearly too-good-to-be-true waxed jackets is dropping every week as we roll into fall, and if you haven’t yet experienced the joy of the wear-with-just-about-anything Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket, there’s positively never been a better time.

In fact, I trust Huckberry menswear to help me crisscross the continent and the globe, as I wore my tough-as-nails Proof Rover Pants out into the agave fields (watch my Instagram soon for a recap post, of course). In my experience, the brand’s gear is as reliable as it gets, whether you opt for a classic Huckberry ballcap or something more sturdy and yet refined, like its Rhodes Footwear lineup of boots.

Either way –with excellent El Tesoro Tequila or hard-working Huckberry menswear — you can’t go wrong any way you slice it this fine early (early) fall weekend. Check back tomorrow for the first of two regularly scheduled fall weekend style posts, and let’s raise a glass in fine fashion, my friends. Salud!
