See Now, Buy Now: These Leather High-Top Sneakers from Nisolo Are a New Seasonal Favorite

The rugged-yet-casual, seriously cool sneakers to buy for spring and summer.

I make no “if’s, and’s or but’s” about it — you need a pair of stylish leather sneakers in your rotation this summer, and you need a pair as soon as possible. As a matter of fact, you need a pair of high-top sneakers not unlike the Nisolo Cortez Mid-Top Sneakers, made with every bit as much attention to detail as a Nisolo weekender bag or the Nisolo x Huckberry Travel Derby. These leather high-top sneakers are shockingly versatile and made responsibly — plus, they’re as ready to wear to the office with slim light wash jeans and a classic cotton blazer as they are on the weekend. What makes them so terrific? Well, dear reader, I’m glad you asked. If you’re familiar with Nisolo, you know that the brand uses ethical manufacturing practices and works with one of Mexico’s top factories to churn out modern-day essentials — kind of like the Nisolo Cortez Mid-Top Sneakers, in fact. But as luck would have it, that’s only the tip of the iceberg; there are plenty of reasons why these are some of the best men’s sneakers you can slip your feet into this season.

SHOP: The Nisolo Cortez Mid-Top Sneakers

A classic pair of finely crafted leather sneakers that can pull double-duty this spring.

Yes indeed, these stylish high-top sneakers really get the job done in a multitude of ways. They’ve got construction akin to that of your favorite pair of leather boots, featuring a vegetable-tanned leather upper and a sturdy, comfortable Vibram sole. That means you can wear them all day long, from the office out to an outdoor patio happy hour. The rich brown Tobacco leather on the Nisolo Cortez Mid-Top Sneakers also goes with a multitude of spring style essentials, from tan chinos and a white Oxford shirt to a rugged short-sleeve henley and a pair of classic dark blue denim. The key with a pair of sneakers like this? Don’t overthink — just get as much wear as you can out of them. Sounds good to me. How about you?

Style Pick of the Week: Nisolo x Huckberry Travel Derby

Crisp, versatile derby shoes that just so happen to be perfect for summer travel.

Any list of summer style essentials calls for travel gear that can stand up to anything, right? Particularly when it comes to versatile travel shoes, I’d say. That’s why we’re here with an all-new, hot-off-the-presses, Style Pick of the Week.¬†The Nisolo x Huckberry Travel Derby, released just a few days ago,¬†are nothing short of the must-have shoes you need for your next summer trip. You can snag them via the Nisolo site, or via Huckberry — so there’s really no reason not to pick up a pair, right? Right.

That’s high praise, to be sure, but you can’t beat a pair of classic Oxford shoes that combine comfort, mobility and versatility. The brand made these exclusively for our pals at Huckberry, and they know a great pair of kicks when they see one. Believe you me, the¬†Travel Derby¬†is a¬†great pair of kicks.¬†The no-break-in suede upper on the¬†Nisolo x Huckberry Travel Derby¬†is a critical touch, truly crucial for comfort right out of the box (especially if you’re going to be wearing these for summer travel). I’m talking the sort of travel that might take you from the office to a train or a plane, then out the door to dinner. The Travel Derby has you covered. And the soft leather insole also molds to your foot, making these casual suede Oxfords easy to wear with stylish no-show socks. The XL Xtralight foam outsole is also plenty comfortable, featuring a laidback wedge shape, to boot. So, the¬†Travel Derby has got what you might call the “comfort + specs” part of the equation down pat.

The great thing about the Travel Derby? You can wear ’em on the road, or pack ’em away with ease for summer trips aplenty.

The¬†Nisolo x Huckberry Travel Derby¬†also checks some crucial boxes in terms of styling potential. The silhouette and design is clean and classic, all the better for wearing with all manner of casual Friday looks. Take the¬†Travel Derby¬†and pair it with slim light wash jeans, a navy T-shirt and a lightweight khaki blazer — you’re set to close out the work week, and the only thing you need to hit the road is a stylish vintage leather messenger bag. And when you get where you’re headed this summer? Wear the¬†Nisolo x Huckberry Travel Derby¬†with slim stone chinos and a short-sleeve chambray shirt for style that’s quite happy hour-friendly. What’s the capper on the¬†Travel Derby? It just might be the fact that these are ethically produced in Mexico — it’s that attention to detail that lends itself to a seriously stylish pair of summer shoes.¬† If you haven’t already decided to purchase the¬†Nisolo x Huckberry Travel Derby, my only question is … what are you waiting for?

Head to Huckberry to get the Nisolo x Huckberry Travel Derby ASAP.

The Friday Read: The Nisolo Holiday Gift Bundle, Barking Irons and LusterWhite Premium Toothpaste

Alright, we made it to Friday — raise a glass! Or crack open a cold one and kick back. It’s the welcome end to a long week here in NYC, one that caps off a busy five days of work following my latest Style Guide trip to celebrate a Florida Thanksgiving with my family! It was a long weekend complete with an amazing Thanksgiving meal, plus many helpings of leftovers in the days following. I even got some shopping done for Black Friday — you can check out my Instagram in the coming days for more in that regard. And why should you follow along on Instagram, exactly? Well, I’m heading back down to Florida this weekend to visit my sister for the 97x Next Big Thing music festival in lovely Tampa Bay! I’m excited to hit the road tonight to take in a great, great weekend of live music featuring some seriously fun, seriously powerful bands (many of whom I’ve had the chance to see in and around NYC as of late!).

That includes the festival’s two main headliners, The Lumineers and Paramore, along with other highly enjoyable groups like Canadian pop-rockers Arkells, New Jersey’s own Bleachers, the always-fun MisterWives¬† out of NYC, groovy indie rockers Portugal. The Man and upbeat dance rockers Saint Motel! That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. It promises to be a sunny, fun weekend in Florida — I couldn’t be more excited to once again break out some warm weather style essentials, just as in¬†past road trips to Florida, and it’s certainly a treat to embark on another Style Guide road trip¬†centered around stellar music. Now, I know we can’t all be so fortunate as to head to warm weather every weekend … if you’ll be battling chilly temperatures, I’d recommend a stylish pair of boots like the Nisolo Andres Boots, our most recent Style Pick of the Week here on the blog.¬† And if holiday shopping is in the cards for you — as it should be — then you’d do well to check out this site’s picks as to the¬†best gifts for men. But more on that very, very shortly. For now, you can join me on Instagram to follow along with all the fun this weekend, and you should stick around tomorrow to check out our next Style Pick of the Week. Alright, now it’s off to catch my flight!

  • OK, folks — have we got a heck of a deal for you. Launching today (that’s December 1st), the good folks at Nisolo — of Andres Boot fame — are offering a men’s holiday gift bundle¬†and an equally stellar women’s holiday gift bundle that you’re not going to want to miss.¬†Now through December 24th,¬†customers (that’d be you!) can spend $35 to¬† get $250 worth of shopping credit at “bundle” brands — in short, we’re talking five brands and five gift cards good for $50 at each brand. What’s in store at each brand? Well, we’ve got rugged outdoor gear from United By Blue, beautiful bags from ONA, high-quality tailoring from Ledbury and stylish men’s boots from Nisolo, among other highlight in the men’s gift bundle. Seriously, what’s not to love about that? Again, you can get the¬†men’s holiday gift bundle¬†and the¬†women’s holiday gift bundle¬†(for yourself or someone else!) through December 24th.
  • Wearing a casual T-shirt this holiday season doesn’t have to be sloppy. Over my Thanksgiving trip to Florida, I found myself reaching for a Barking Irons tee time and again, featuring soft fabric and a retro fit. If that sounds good to you, you might want to pick up the “War Is Over” Tee from Barking Irons, or one of the brand’s other sharp graphic tees. They’d make a great gift for the guy who appreciates standout casual style, too.
  • Let’s talk a bit of grooming today on the blog, and specifically, how to keep your teeth in prime shape during the holiday season. Between red wine, chocolate, craft beer and more, keeping your teeth white can be a tall order. So, I’ve been testing out LusterPremiumWhite and the brand’s PowerWhite Deep Stain Eraser Flouride Toothpaste (courtesy of the brand) these past few weeks, and I truly can’t recommend the brand enough! It even helped me soar through my last dentist appointment with flying colors (well, sort of). Grab a tube now.

And with that, I say goodbye until … tomorrow!

Enjoy the weekend!

The List: Kick off Early Fall with the Best Men’s Gear

As we’ve been saying for a while now on The Style Guide, fall will be here before you know it. It’s the best time of the year for #menswear, what with a return to texture-heavy outfits, rugged layering and old style favorites — plus the chance to hit the road for crisp fall weekend adventures galore. And we’re getting into the swing of things a few weeks before the official start of fall with today’s edition of The List. Unlike our last edition of The List, which focused on the best gear to buy to close out summer, we’re looking toward menswear essentials with a bit more grit, a bit more rugged style and a bit more fall-ready wearability. Am I the only one excited for that first crisp fall day? Maybe? Well, let’s change that as quick as we can.¬†¬†Follow me on Instagram to see how I’m getting ready for fall — and know that we’re officially going to debut our Fall Style Wish List later this week.

Original Penguin P55 Bedford Cord 5-Pocket Pant —¬†$89

Original Penguin

A slim-fitting pair of cotton trousers in a unique fall shade.

There’s no better way to ease into fall — and ease away from slim light wash denim — than with textured cotton pants in an earthy fall color.

Bespoke Post Concentrate Box —¬†$45¬†(When¬†Signing Up for Bespoke Post)

Organize your desk AND brew a great batch of cold brew, all at once.

I’m the type of guy who can enjoy excellent cold brew nearly all year long — and if that’s the case for you, the Bespoke Post Concentrate Box features essentials to make your own cold brew and organize your home office.

Danner Vertigo 917 Boots —¬†$199.98

One part hiker, one part sneaker — and all ready for fall, any way you slice it.

Want a set of shoes that straddles the line between between purely a hiking boot or purely a sneaker? The Danner 917 Boots do both — wear ’em with dark slim jeans and a rugged fall jacket for a day trip.

Original Penguin Pigment Overprint Shirt —¬†$89

A thoughtfully crafted shirt, perfect for fall layering.

Early fall is an ideal time to reach for pieces with a bit more texture and visual interest — this richly colored Original Penguin shirt would team nicely with the brand’s Bedford Cords as seen above.

Baxter of California Safety Razor Set —¬†$260
Baxter of California

Make your next shave premium and refined with Baxter of California.

Are you the type of guy who appreciates the finer, perhaps more underappreciated things in life? Like shaving with an old-school razor? This handsome Baxter of California Safety Razor Set should do the job nicely.

Banana Republic Fulton Skinny Rapid Movement Chinos —¬†$98

Make your next chinos mobile, tailored and relatively affordable. Job well-done, Banana Republic.

Tailored chinos that look as great as they feel? Available in a range of colors, including classic khaki? Banana Republic is onto something with its Rapid Movement Chinos, which I’ve had the chance to test out & enjoy lately.
Taylor Stitch California Shirt in Army Micro Cord —¬†$125
Taylor Stitch

A cool corduroy shirt that gives off modern — not retro — vibes thanks to the tailored fit.

¬†Shirting from Taylor Stitch always sells quickly — and performs reliably and stylishly. This textured corduroy shirt in a neat shade of green should become a go-to fall style move.

Nisolo Diego Low Sneakers —¬†$129.98
Nisolo footwear

A richly crafted leather sneaker that provides edge and versatility.

Early fall is as good a time as any to break out stylish leather sneakers with a bit of rugged edge — the Nisolo Diego Low should work as well with a classic striped henley as with a rugged men’s T-shirt.
Bespoke Post B6 EDC Kit —¬†$120

The Bespoke Post E6 EDC Kit is packed full of prime fall style picks.

From a slim wallet to a set of handy notebooks to a bottle opener and a durable pen, the Bespoke Post B6 EDC Kit has it all — literally. These men’s style essentials should certainly serve you well this fall.

Solo Stove Campfire 4P+ Stove — $109.99

Solo Stove Campfire Stove

A durable, affordable and modern campfire stove to take with you on the road.

Early fall nights just can’t be topped if you’re able to get away and spend a few nights camping — and the Solo Stove Campfire 4P+ Stove is an extremely useful, easily portable option for all your fall wilderness pursuits.
Bespoke Post Savor Box —¬†$45¬†(When Signing Up for Bespoke Post)
Bespoke Post Savor Box

All the essentials you need to make a mean Old Fashioned.

Another Bespoke Post box that’s darn near a fall essential. After all, who doesn’t love a well-crafted, thoughtful Old Fashioned on a brisk fall night? Yes indeed, the Bespoke Post Savor Box is going to help you make the perfect one.
Audio Pro T3 Bluetooth Speaker —¬†$249

A great-looking speaker that provides a stylish way to play your favorite tunes.

Last but not least — you’ve got your rugged Taylor Stitch shirt and your campfire stove, but what tunes are you cranking out? The surprisingly stylish Audio Pro T3 Bluetooth Speaker can help in that regard.
OK, my friends — that’s today’s edition of The List! Who’s ready for fall? And what was your favorite pick? I’m loving the¬†Bespoke Post Savor Box¬†and of course, the Taylor Stitch California Shirt. Let me know via the comments below or on Twitter — thanks for reading, and happy shopping!

#OOTD: An Updated Way to Wear Your New Oxford Shirt

If there’s one shirting style that tends to come up time after time here at The Style Guide, it might be the classic Oxford shirt. From a made-in-America Oxford shirt to the handsome Line of Trade navy Oxford shirt you’re going to read about today, there’s not a garment that more consistently works in so many style situations for today’s modern man (that’d be you!). Hopefully, you’ve already got one of the best Oxford shirts for men in your close. And although we talked about how to wear an Oxford shirt for summer, we’re shaking it up a little bit today. The below #OOTD is one that harnesses the best of end-of-summer style and yet uses rugged accessories like a heritage-quality leather belt and a tough stainless steel dive watch to nod toward the fact that fall is slowly but surely approaching. ¬†Are you ready? I’m getting there.

Truly, I think you’ll find that the classic Oxford shirt seen below can work in all kinds of scenarios, from a casual weekend coffee run to a farmer’s market trip to a day at the office. That’s what we’re going for here, at least. And the great thing about your new favorite Oxford shirt is that it’ll work with plenty of pieces you’ve already got in your closet, from American-made denim to tailored sweatpants and crisp leather sneakers for a¬†very¬†laidback Sunday brunch. What do you say? Shall we get after it? Chime in on the below in the comments or on Twitter once you’ve checked out the #OOTD¬†below.¬†Shop on!

Line of Trade

Take that navy Oxford and pair it with slim chinos and classic kicks to step into September (and beyond).

The Oxford Shirt:¬†Line of Trade Navy Oxford,¬†$70¬†– Let’s kick it off with a modern-fitting, garment-washed Oxford shirt¬†in a slightly different deep navy color. Ready to wear with anything — slim chinos included.

The Chinos:¬†Banana Republic Aiden Slim Rapid Movement Chino,¬†$98¬†— A recent addition to the BR line, these stretch chinos combine a tailored fit with a range of color options — although the shade seen here is perhaps most versatile.

The Sneakers: ¬†Rancourt and Co. Carson Low in Natural Canvas,¬†$175¬†— Made in America to exacting standards, these Rancourt and Co. sneakers are a more durable answer to classic white canvas sneakers — and all the better for it.

The Socks: Arvin Goods No-show Socks,¬†$30¬†(Three-pack)¬†— Because it’s not quite fall yet, we’re still rolling up our chinos to show off those USA-made sneakers — and Arvin Goods no-show socks are critical in that regard.

The Belt:¬†Sturdy Brothers Everyday Belt in Chestnut,¬†$80¬†— Tired of buying cheap accessories? This handsome, extremely well-made¬†Sturdy Brothers belt¬†is the upgrade you need for fall.

The Watch: ¬†Timex Stainless Steel Waterbury Watch,¬†$119¬†— Told you we’d be breaking out durable everyday accessories, right? This rugged stainless steel dive watch¬†from Timex is a steal in terms of price and looks.

The Sunglasses:¬†Classic Specs Lowerree Aviators,¬†$88¬†— Perhaps you’re not familiar with Classic Specs ¬†— I know I wasn’t — but pieces like these stylish Aviator sunglasses should change that in a hurry.

The Everyday Carry:¬†Nisolo Lori Leather Tote,¬†$134.98¬†— Wary of carrying a¬†rugged leather tote¬†when you normally haul around a stylish messenger bag? This handsome leather tote bag ¬†is a new way to switch up your everyday carry.

Alright, then. Have a better idea of how to wear¬†your new favorite Oxford shirt? When you start with a piece as classic and simply constructed as the¬†Line of Trade navy Oxford shirt¬†shown above, the possibilities are nearly endless. However, your Style Guide author thinks that keeping things straightforward is the best way to go. That is to say, slim chinos and natural canvas sneakers from Rancourt and Co. are standout building blocks for any outfit. ¬†Add in fall-ready accessories like a¬†rugged stainless steel dive watch¬†from Timex¬† and a durable leather belt from Sturdy Brothers, and you’re set for this #OOTD — and plenty more outfits in the season ahead. ¬†No outfit — especially one featuring a classic navy Oxford shirt — is complete without finishing touches like¬†stylish Aviator sunglasses¬†and a handsome leather tote bag, though. So, just as with many of your other favorite #menswear pieces, the little details matter, and starting things off with easily wearable essentials is the best way to say goodbye to one season and look toward the next.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post — and thanks for reading!

Style Suggestion: Here’s What to Wear for Labor Day Weekend

It’s summer’s last gasp, and it’s here already. Bring on Labor Day, and let’s start the never-ending quest as to what to wear for Labor Day weekend. Well, folks … that’s a bit dramatic, but your search ends today at The Style Guide. It’s a weekend that calls to mind any number of potentially tricky men’s¬†style scenarios. After all, you’ve likely got to dress for a road trip¬†… while also packing enough gear to wear to a weekend BBQ or head to the beach. We didn’t say it wasn’t a busy weekend, that’s for sure. It’s a great way to close out summer and look toward fall, and with that being said, it’s a weekend to approach with transitional style in mind. The gear you bring with you needs to toe the line between casual and laidback, yet¬†appropriate for the situation. From manning the grill to stoking the bonfire, I think¬†the below men’s style picks have something¬†for everyone.¬†That means we’re¬†reaching for a ridiculously stylish Taylor Stitch shirt-jacket, plus an American-made T-shirt and classic khaki shorts — among other choice selections. I’ll let you be the judge of whether this outfit can work¬†for you¬†— if you agree, feel free to hit me up on Twitter. If not… keep it to yourself, ehh?

The Weekender Bag: Nisolo Leon Weekender — $397.98

Nisolo

A handsome, durable and super-stylish way to carry your favorite #menswear.

Is the Nisolo Leon Weekender expensive compared to lower-quality brands? Assuredly. But are you that much better off for ponying up the extra cash? Absolutely. A stylish weekender bag is yet another way to complement your stylish wardrobe — and with its burnished leather and quality construction,¬†the Leon Weekender looks outstanding and is made to get better with age. That sounds to me like a pretty great way to pack up for Labor Day — and plenty of other road trips in the months ahead.

The Shirt-Jacket: Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket in Sun-Bleached Indigo — $148

Taylor Stitch

Part shirt, part jacket — the perfect piece to wear on the road and once you’ve arrived.

With any gear — I mean, literally anything — from Taylor Stitch, you know you’re in good hands. With the rugged, casual-yet-versatile Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket, that’s perhaps no more true. It’s an ideal piece to bridge the gap between summer and fall, crafted from 100 percent selvage Japanese indigo. That gives it a distinct look and a weight that’s just right for layering over a rugged henley or an American-made T-shirt at a¬†bonfire — and that means you can¬†wear it all on its own for¬†weekend travel, too. In short,¬†Taylor Stitch¬†has outdone itself once again with the Maritime Shirt Jacket.
Frank And Oak

The T-shirt: Flint and Tinder Slub Tee in Dusty Field Grey — $38

Flint and Tinder

An American-made T-shirt that nods to a truly American holiday.

Labor Day is a holiday celebrating hard-working Americans in the labor force across the country — why not tip your cap to them with a stylish T-shirt that’s fittingly made in the States? From durable waxed trucker jackets to your new favorite Oxford — which should also be in your bag for the weekend — Flint and Tinder does it all. In fact, this Flint and Tinder¬†slub tee ¬†in a pleasingly faded dusty grey should fit right in with your rugged Taylor Stitch shirt-jacket for the weekend.
Timex
The Shorts: Taylor Stitch Maritime Shorts in British Khaki Linen Herringbone¬†— $118¬†AND Flint and Tinder Breaker Trunk — $38.98

Casual men's shorts

A pair of shorts for night and a pair of swim trunks for the day. Nothing else to it.

Because we’re dealing with style scenarios aplenty across Labor Day weekend, you should prep and pack accordingly. If you spend the day at the beach or the pool, break out the affordably priced, well-made and durable Flint and Tinder Breaker Trunk in a go-anywhere shade of dark grey. The tailored fit helps the Breaker Trunks wear more like shorts for day trips to a lake or the beach. And for the rest of the time — backyard BBQ or bar trip alike¬†—¬†Taylor Stitch delivers on both versatile style and a unique fabric blend with the Maritime Shorts in a standout shade of British Khaki. It looks to me like these are the perfect shorts to close out summer, ehh?

The Footwear: SeaVeees Hermosa Plimsoll Regatta — $69.98

SeaVees

From the custom-dyed upper to small details like waxed cotton laces, SeaVees has crafted a pair of sneakers fit for the last bit of summer.

When you need style that’s simple and effective, you should reach for a sneaker like the SeaVees Hermosa Plimsoll Regatta. The timeless silhouette of the SeaVees Hermosa Plimsoll channels the kind of laidback, go-anywhere vibe you need for Labor Day. The Hermosa Plimsoll also features a custom-dye herringbone textile upper and waxed cotton laces — two touches that upgrade it considerably over your average pair of sneakers. When it’s time to hit the beach or the pool, just kick ’em off — SeaVees sneakers are practically made for it.

The Socks: Arvin Goods No-show Socks (Three-pack) — $30

Arvin Goods

Sustainably made no-show socks crafted with style in mind.

Never one to skip out on the details, stylish no-show socks are going to be an essential as you pack up this Labor Day weekend — particularly if you’re bringing easygoing sneakers. Available with simple color combos and blocked designs that won’t look half-bad after you’ve slipped off your sneakers,¬†Arvin¬†Goods makes the brand’s no-show socks with sustainability, style and fair pricing in mind. Another brand that’s tailor-made for¬†Labor¬†Day, ehh?

Greats

The Watch: Ventus Caspian C-01 Brass Watch — $299

With a case that’ll patina over time and a black canvas strap, this is a durable weekend watch.

When a weekend calls for a little bit of everything — from beach time to pool time to grill time — you need a stylish casual¬†watch that’s up to the task. The rugged, durable and uniquely¬†crafted Ventus Caspian C-01 Brass Watch is your pick, fella. The brass case on the tough Caspian C-01 Watch is designed to patina over time — that’s a¬†good thing, because this timepiece can stand up to adventures aplenty. The black canvas strap and 100-meter water resistance add another dimension of functionality, too. In summary: Definitely bring this watch with you for Labor Day.

The Sunglasses: Steven Alan Bristol Sunglasses in Brushed Gold — $148
Steven Alan

Throwback vibes make for a distinct and versatile pair of sunglasses.

Make no mistake, you don’t want to be caught away from home without a pair of stylish sunglasses. And with their retro-inspired design, versatile shape and unique gold finish, these Steven Alan Bristol Sunglasses are perfect for laidback beach days and day trips this coming Labor Day weekend. And the good news? The Bristol Sunglasses will look just as great for Labor Day trips in years to come as they do now.
Grooming Essentials: Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit — $49.98
Harry's Shaving

All the gear you need to get the perfect shave while on the road.

Another thing you don’t want to leave behind? Your toiletries. And if you’re a guy who likes to keep his scruff maintained — as you should be — the easy-to-use, travel-friendly Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit bundles everything into one package that’s, well, essential. Trust me: Don’t leave home without it.

Florsheim

The Ballcap: Huckberry Explorer’s Cap — $38
Huckberry Explorer's Cap

Grab this ballcap, toss it on and hit the road — it’s perfect for travel and Labor Day weekend particularly.

Among #menswear picks you see pop up consistently on this site, the Huckberry Explorer’s Cap might top that list. Maybe it’s the fact that these vintage-inspired ballcaps are so well-made and subtly stylish, yet it’s the perfect spring and summer … and fall … and winter accessory to me. When you want to keep the sun off your face this Labor Day weekend, there’s not a better ballcap out there to grab.
The Essential: Orange Vessel Co. Stoneware Growler — $69.98
Stoneware Vessel Co.

Perhaps the best way to transport your favorite beer — and keep it fresh and flowing at your destination.

Now, is beer a “must-have” essential in the way that the Huckberry Explorer’s Cap¬†or a Taylor Stitch shirt-jacket might be? Surely not. And if you’re hopping on a plane this Labor Day weekend, well, this Orange Vessel Co. growler will have to stay behind. But if you’re making the trek to a friend’s house and can spare some room in your ride? This durable growler can more than handily help you transport your favorite craft beer.
Gifts for the Host: Brooklyn Slate Company Slate Coasters — $27¬†AND Spiegelau IPA Glasses, Set of Four — $32
Spiegelau

Two gifts that pair nicely with one another — oh, and great beer.

Yet again, let’s keep in mind a golden rule of travel: Always bring a gift for the host. Or in this case, gifts. And hey, there’s some beer in the mix again! Brooklyn Slate Company makes a coaster that’s, dare I say it … stylish and rugged. And Spiegelau crafts some of the more unique glassware in the beer world — bring along the Orange Vessel Co. growler and fill it with your favorite IPA. Those IPA glasses will do the rest of the work.

Ready for some fun in the sun — and a few choice brews — this Labor Day? I know I am. And I hope you’ll be packing and wearing the best men’s summer gear for the occasion. I can’t recommend easily wearable pieces like an American-made T-shirt¬†and a rugged Taylor Stitch shirt-jacket enough — from the beach to the bonfire, both layers absolutely work. Accessories like the Huckberry Explorer’s Cap¬†are definitely critical, as is a rugged casual watch and the right weekender bag. It’s also critical to remember stylish shorts, and luckily for the both of us, the Taylor Stitch Maritime Shorts fit the bill nicely. Packing up men’s grooming essentials is pretty critical when it comes to staying fresh — let the Harry’s Essential Travel Shave Kit do the work for ya. I’d definitely be remiss if I didn’t remind you to bring along stylish sunglasses¬†(preferably something retro-inspired like the Steven Alan Bristol Sunglasses). Lastly, don’t leave home without your favorite brew — the Orange Vessel Co. growler helps check that box. How will you be dressing for Labor Day? And what do you think of the above picks?¬† Let me know via The Style Guide Facebook page!

Layer right on up with a stylish shirt-jacket, a classic Oxford and other staples ready for travel or play.

The Oxford: Flint and Tinder Texas-Made Oxford, $89¬†— If there’s one workhorse you need in your bag for a weekend trip, it’s¬†¬†a classic Oxford shirt. Try this charcoal Oxford from Flint and Tinder — it’ll play nicely off the Taylor Stitch¬†shirt-jacket, and it’s made in America.

The Chinos: Banana Republic Aiden Slim Rapid Movement Chino, $98 — A relatively recent offering from a brand that specializes in versatile gear for the modern man, these stretch chinos are perfect for a day of travel.

The Socks: (Not Pictured) Anonymousism Cotton Stripe Sock in Khaki, $8¬†— You’d do well to stock up for your trip on at least a few sets of affordable, stylish and unique Anonymousism patterned socks.

The Briefs: Bread and Boxers Boxer Briefs in Black, $18¬†— Comfort and simple looks are two qualities you should always keep top of mind when packing (and wearing) briefs — Bread and Boxers will sort you out nicely.

The Watch: Timex Waterbury in Red Wing Leather, $139¬†— Just as with your classic Oxford, there’s one other essential you’re going to want to keep handy, and that’s the ever-stylish Timex Red Wing Waterbury. Durable, tough and sharp.

The Weekender: Bradley Mountain Utility Bag in Brush Brown, $159¬†— Sized just right for a few nights away, this handsome, rugged and stylish weekender bag from Bradley Mountain should be your next luggage purchase.

The Wallet: Herschel Supply Co. Raynor Passport Wallet in Nubuck, $49.99¬†— Even if you’re not heading overseas, having a useful, utilitarian-yet-stylish passport wallet like this one from Herschel Supply is a solid way to round out your everyday carry.

Well, do you think we packed enough essentials for your trip? Starting with a durable pair of leather chukka boots and a stylish weekender bag only sets you up for success — and layering accordingly keeps you traveling in style, too. I can’t say enough about the rugged versatility of the Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket — it’s seriously perfect for chilly evenings and day trips alike. And we’d be remiss if we left out a classic Oxford like the one seen above from Flint and Tinder, another remarkably wearable addition to your travel gear. Well-considered details like Anonymousism patterned socks¬†are also the name of the game, and the Red Wing Waterbury from Timex is a watch that could feasibly never leave your wrist throughout the trip.
