The Friday Read: The Best Labor Day Sales, Taylor Stitch Shirting & Rugged Fall Menswear

If you ask me, it’s pretty hard to believe we’re rolling into Labor Day weekend. Where did the summer go? I spent a solid chunk of time in Michigan, took trips upstate with Laphroaig and Eddie Bauer (geared up accordingly) and yet, here we are talking already about the best Labor Day sales and fall menswear from brands like Taylor Stitch. I’ll have a full list of standout long weekend sales to shop below, but it’s the San Francisco-based retailer I’ve been especially impressed with as of late. The Friday Read: Filson New Arrivals, Aether Apparel’s Sale & A Michigan Getaway

My friends, welcome back to another edition of The Friday Read, your guide to the latest and greatest menswear and gear for your weekend. I don’t know about you, but I’ve certainly got rugged menswear top of mind this weekend, and for a couple reasons. In dealing with the heat in NYC and Michigan (as part of a family vacation I’m taking Up North!), I’ve been adding some items from the Filson New Arrivals section to my wish list — I’m not sure about you, but I’m definitely coveting some of the best fall menswear right about now. It’s my first time back in a year, and quite a bit has changed since on, well, all fronts.   • No summer adventure, and least of all not in a place like Michigan (or really, anywhere with idyllic lakes and wide-open spaces) is complete without the right pair of shorts. I’m closing out a busy week after an upstate trip with Laphroaig Scotch, so I’m looking forward to catching up on reading and relaxing myself (but not too much – keep on reading!). My friends, you know what weekend is upon us. It’s 4th of July weekend, a patriotic occasion that calls for reflection on both our freedoms and what we can do better as a country (there’s a lot, and I know you don’t need me to tell you that, right?). It’s also a time to gather safely with friends and family, ideally with some of life’s greater pleasures close at hand (I’m talking about cold beer and menswear, of course). On that last front, you know where to go to get some of the best men’s style essentials for summer, don’t you? Quick, can you guess the brand featured above? If you guessed standout San Francisco menswear purveyors Taylor Stitch, you’re correct. They’re the perfect brand to lead into today’s Friday Read, where I give you plenty of gear and reading recommendations to head into the weekend. Going all the way back to 2015, (this blog’s second year), Taylor Stitch has been one of my favorite brands. They’ve got breezy short-sleeve shirts, expertly crafted chinos, durable chambray shirts and much more. Speaking of weekends, well, I’m in Florida this weekend and once again getting some quality time with my dogs and my family. The Friday Read: Father’s Day Weekend, Summer Style Essentials & Timex x MadeWorn

My friends, welcome to another lovely summer Friday here in Brooklyn (and hopefully, wherever you happen to be, as well!). It’s a momentous weekend for several reasons, chief among them the fact that it’s Father’s Day weekend — perhaps you might be interested in shipping Dad a last-minute or post-Father’s Day gift from the always-outstanding Huckberry x Coors Golden Hour Series as shown above?
