It’s time for another edition of The List, everyone’s favorite bimonthly roundup of, quite simply, the best men’s gear out there.  And today, we’re covering rugged gear for early fall — seeing as we’re nearing October, it seems fitting … right? By now, maybe you’ve stored away your classic summer sneakers and are reaching for heavier layers, pieces with some texture and heft to them. That’s all GREAT in the opinion of this #menswear writer — I can’t wait to break out even more fall style essentials across the weeks ahead. #OOTD: How to Wear a Rugged Overshirt This Fall

This week’s #OOTD fun on The Style Guide continues in fine fashion — or should I say, fall fashion? That’s right — we’re truly starting to get into rugged fall style on the blog, from the menswear to wear on a fall trip to today’s focus: How to wear a rugged overshirt this season.  The overshirt — particular a stylish Taylor Stitch overshirt as featured today — is as versatile a #menswear layering weapon as you’ve got in your fall style arsenal. Namely, it can function as both a shirt … and a jacket. For those days and nights when it’s not cold enough for a heavier top layer, an overshirt can pull double duty. Feel free to layer it over a slim striped henley or toss it on over another shirt — say, an American-made Oxford. Made with the right fabric (like the Japanese selvedge cotton found on the Taylor Stitch Maritime Shirt Jacket seen here), it’s going to provide warmth from the chill and earn you major style points at the same time. Fall 2017 Men’s Style Wish List

Today marks a post that I always look forward to here at The Style Guide — a look toward a new season, the start of the best time in menswear …. our annual Fall Style Wish List. If you can believe it, this is a tradition that dates all the way back to 2014 … pretty wild, ehh?  And the good news is, we’re back this year with a list of men’s style essentials that’s even bigger and better than ever. Fall ties together so many things that make #menswear great, from the opportunity to pile on added layers to the chance to step out in rugged gear at nearly all times. So, stylish wingtip boots, a rugged striped henley and dark blue denim all join our wardrobe rotations yet again.  Trust me, this is the gear to buy for the  season.  And plenty of brands are harkening back toward classic styles while updating them with modern fits and fabrics. That means we’ve got plenty of rugged style essentials to cover in our Fall 2017 Style Wish List. Style Suggestion: Here’s What to Wear for Labor Day Weekend

It’s summer’s last gasp, and it’s here already. Bring on Labor Day, and let’s start the never-ending quest as to what to wear for Labor Day weekend. Well, folks … that’s a bit dramatic, but your search ends today at The Style Guide. It’s a weekend that calls to mind any number of potentially tricky men’s style scenarios. After all, you’ve likely got to dress for a road trip … while also packing enough gear to wear to a weekend BBQ or head to the beach. We didn’t say it wasn’t a busy weekend, that’s for sure. It’s a great way to close out summer and look toward fall, and with that being said, it’s a weekend to approach with transitional style in mind. The gear you bring with you needs to toe the line between casual and laidback, yet appropriate for the situation. The Friday Read: Maggie Rogers, Rugged Henleys and How Your Blazer Should Fit

Join us as we kick off a Style Guide weekend in Brooklyn, following a busy week (as per usual) in, well, Brooklyn. And Manhattan. At any rate, the summer continues to roll along as we draw ever closer to *deep breath* … early fall. Maybe we’re jumping the gun a bit, but I can say for sure that content prep for plenty of rugged fall #menswear is well underway in these parts. In the meantime though, it was a heck of a week for live music in NYC on this front, as I took in not one but two standout shows by the phenomenally talented American singer Maggie Rogers at my favorite venue in the city, Brooklyn Steel.

Maggie’s been racking up global festival appearances this summer, including a trip to Outside Lands last weekend, in addition to building some serious buzz behind her excellent EP, the gorgeous “Now That the Light is Fading.” If you haven’t yet given her a listen,, I’d stop what you’re doing and plug in. I was fortunate enough to see her play earlier this spring at the intimate Music Hall of Williamsburg, so to see her play two sold-out nights to nearly 2,000 people was an absolute treat. To say that I’m excited for her full-length debut would be an understatement! At any rate, we’ve also kept busy when it comes to bringing you all the best men’s gear you need now — and we’ve got plenty more where that came from. What are your weekend plans? As for me, I’ll be taking in a relaxing Brooklyn weekend and prepping some more #menswear content for Instagram and beyond.
